    - How to Remove the Front Side Fenders -

In order for you to remove the front side fenders to replace them with either new ones, ones that are different colours or in this case, replacing from the GT86 style to the BRZ style, to make your life easier, these are some handy tools that I used to help me remove the front side fenders, other similar tools can be used too, whatever is easier for yourself or have access to:

     - Multi-bit Screwdriver with a detachable head + a small female hex attachment (e.g. 5/32 CR-V head used to remove small hexagonal nuts or bolts)
       - Used to locate onto the plastic pins and allows to you push them out while pulling from the other side without slipping off them

     - Long flat head screwdriver
       - Used between the fender and the side fender panel/garnish to help pry it off

     - Maybe a shorter flat head screwdriver
       - Can be helpful for one of the pins that is more difficult to reach that the multi-screwdriver can't reach

     - IMPORTANT - Cloth
       - To prevent damaging/scratching both your car and yourself as there are some areas where you can cut yourself if you slip when pushing with the screwdriver

     - A flat piece of plastic that is relatively sturdy like an old card/bank card/credit card/store card etc that you no longer need
       - To help scrap off the left over sticky foam tape which is less likely to seriously damage your paint like a screwdriver could

This is what the back of a side fender panel/garnish looks like:

You have 3 plastic push pins along the top, 3 along the bottom and then a pad of double sided very stick foam tape.

    To remove the panel:

-> To start, pop the bonnet up and have the door by the panel you are working on first wide open

-> You want to work from the front backwards tackling the sticky pad last

-> Place the cloth over the body panel and into the engine bay so you are covering the first plastic push pin which is the one in the top left hand corner

-> Use the multi-bit screwdriver to push the pin from inside the engine bay (with the cloth in-between the hex head and the push pin) while trying to either use your fingers or the cloth and a screwdriver to pry the panel from the other side, making sure that the hex hole is seated on the push pin so it doesn't slip when your pushing

-> Once that pops out, move on the the next push pin along the top and repeat like before

-> Next, use the long screwdriver or a shorter screwdriver (with a cloth in the way to prevent the screwdriver scraping anything) to carefully try and push the bottom left plastic push pin while prying the whole panel up from one end (this can be tricky as it is slightly tucked away but it still accessible)

-> Repeat with the last push pin along the top with either the multi-bit screwdriver or a flat head screwdriver, again placing the cloth in the way for protection while manually prying the panel off from the other side

-> Next I would place the cloth over the gap between the body panel and the fender panel/garnish and stick your long screwdriver into the cloth so you are pushing the cloth covered screwdriver in-between the panels

-> Push through while prying the panel off and if you like, twisting the screwdriver head to give you more leverage and you should pop the last bottom 2 push pins

-> Repeat this carefully with the last bit as you try and peel off the panel that is now only being stuck on by the very sticky double sided foam tape.  It may help to minimise the amount of cloth covering the screwdriver but not too little that you end up scratching the body panel.

-> While you are trying to pry the last bit off, use your fingers to pry and pull on the other end of the panel (which requires the door to be open for you to access that end of the panel) and along the bottom edge of the panel too.  Just work you way around the end of the panel trying to pull it off in all directions while still having the long screwdriver and cloth coming in from the front and continue until it peels off

-> Once the front side fender is off, peel off any foam pads that might still be on the body panel around the holes of the push pins (these are just cushion pads and are not sticky) and then start to remove any excess sticky foam tape that might remains with your flat piece of plastic like an old bank card

Give the area a wipe down as it'll be quite dirty under there and then simply replace with either a recoloured or new panel.  Replacing with the same panel again will require you to clean the sticky foam on the plastic panel side and stick some fresh new double sided foam tape.  New panels will already have this on so just peel of the protective cover and position the panel onto the body panel using the holes at the front first and working your way back again.

Toyota GR Yaris - 25 Minute Test Drive Review
    Hello Everyone,
Here is my quick review of the GR Yaris, based on a 25minute test drive. Which was conducted on the outskirts of Birmingham, so mostly consisted of city roads and dual carriageway, with lots of pot holes. Because of this I was unable to push the car handling and cornering ability. For reference the weather was dry but the roads were wet from lots of rain the night before.
    Short Version:
The car is good and well rounded. It has excellent power delivery from the 3 cylinder engine. Lacking exhaust sound but you can make turbo noises, exhaust would be first mod. Stiff but compliant suspension, not crashy. Comfortable but seat is too high and letter box effect in the center of the windscreen. Fairly priced considering the technology. Overall: 7/10
    Long Version:
    Exterior
My initial thoughts on seeing the Yaris in the showroom are, it's small, looks well built, the front end is very aggressive with the large grill and cooling vent, the side has massive wide arches which really add to the character of the car. The most disappointing part of the car is definitely the rear end as it's lacking any kind of style. The wheels are made by BBS Japan and forged, they actually have the specification markings on the inner bead, as in it literally says 18x8.5 +45 (might not be exactly this), BBS Japan, Made in Japan, etc. A nice touch for those who like this kind of detail or looking for the info on the wheel specs. The Brakes are massive and fill the 18" wheels nicely, they are a two piece design with a bolted hat and rotor, so should make getting replacements relatively in-expensive. The showroom car was in solid white, this is a nice and clean colour and showed the cars details very well. I compared it to a Pearl White regular Yaris that was next to it, the Pearl was nice but I don't think it'd work on the GR.
The test car was a Scarlet Flare red GR Yaris with Circuit Pack. I didn't find the colour that exciting when initally looking at it, however I passed the car on the way home whilst it was on another test drive and it did looks good on the road. I'm not sure what my preferred colour choice would be based on the options available. Owning a WR Blue BRZ my ideal colour would be blue again if it was available.
    Interior
The interior has a modern feel and is well put together and looks very nice, there are some cheap plastics and the dash cluster is very plain, think of it like a 90's STi cluster. It really looks odd compared to the rest of the dash, as that has a nice modern look. I definitely think a digital dash would have been better, if a regular Yaris can have this why can't the GR? At-least it should be an option. However upon driving the main central digital display was nice and clear, easy to read and understand. It's display output can be adjusted by using the controls on the left side of the steering wheel, you can see the current speed, mpg, turbo pressure, tyre pressure, power output to each wheel and adjust the various systems of the car, i.e. the lane assist or emergency braking. For the test drive I left the display on current speed. The steering wheel also had controls for the radar cruise control, audio and phone system.
The seats were very nice and comfortable, but as reported by a number of people they sit very high, apparently there is up-to 60mm of hight adjustment, but even on the lowest setting this was too high for me. Also the main infotainment screen and rear view mirror take up a lot of wind screen space, giving a letter box feel to the center of the windscreen. If the seat was an 1" lower this wouldn't be an issue for myself. However before my test drive I was talking with another customer who was also interested in the GR, he was probably over 6 foot, we discussed this issue and I can definitely see it being more of a problem for him and the taller drivers. After about 5 minutes in the car the seating position felt natural and I was used to the letter box effect and could happily accept this compromise. I didn't try the back seat space, but I had a quite look in the boot and it's tiny so bare this in mind if you need some storage space.
    Test drive:
Power Delivery - As I'm sure most of you are aware the GR Yaris has a 260hp, 3 cylinder, 1.6L engine, and it's powerful more than I expected from a 3 cylinder. My only previous experience of a 3 cylinder engine is a 1.0L in a VW Up, the Yaris is nothing like that. The delivery is nice and smooth with a good amount of torque. There is little to no turbo lag and it's happy to be revved out. Although peak power is in the middle of the rev range. I might have given the clutch a hard time on the first pull major pull away, upon joining a dual carriageway from a roundabout as I wasn't expecting it to pull as well as it did. The power makes it very easy to reach the speed limit and go beyond it. As for the clutch other than me getting used to it (mainly getting used to driving a car that actually has some power), the pedal was good and firm and didn't require a lot of effort to press.
Suspension - The car as mentioned previous had the circuit pack fitted, this has stiffer suspension than the standard/convenience pack cars. You could definitely tell it was stiff, but it wasn't bone jarring / teeth rattling like some other cars (Fiesta ST). It is well damped which is what makes a massive difference when it comes to suspension, so much so I'd say it has better dampers than the Tein Flex A's on my BRZ, as it was very compliant on the rutted roads, with no torque steer when putting the power down. However I'd probably look at changing the suspension to a set of coilovers fairly quickly after purchase of the car, as I'd like a bit more refinement from them, perhaps the standard suspension would be more akin to my ideal setup. Although with coilovers the balance could be fine tuned.
Chassis - The chassis felt solid and didn't have any sort of body flex, I could tell during the limited corning that the body was nice and flat with little roll. As for the steering, it was perfectly acceptable and you could tell which directions the wheels were pointing, ideally I'd like to see how the steering behaved when on track to get a better feel for it. However it does lack feedback compared to the 86/BRZ, to be fair to the Yaris though I've not tested another car with the same steering feedback as the 86/BRZ, even my Mazda MX5 MK1 didn't feel as precise.
Brakes / Wheels & Tyres - The circuit pack cars are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres as standard. On the wet roads the car had plenty of grip and traction and I never once thought I could use more grip, unfortunately I didn't really get chance to try changing the AWD drive modes to see if this would have made any difference to the traction levels. It would be interesting to see how the car reacts on the PS4S in proper wintry conditions. The brakes as standard are massive, even so they work amazing from cold without issue. However like the steering, the feedback from the brake pedal wasn't as exact as my modified BRZ's, it does have a nice consistent feel and not over servoed like a VW's.
Noise - The car was quiet inside, there is definitely less road noise than compared with my own BRZ which has added sound deadening. However the worst part of the car is the exhaust sound or lack of sound, I put the windows down for the last 5 minutes of the drive and you could barely hear the car even when static revving it. This is highly disappointing and whilst a 3 cylinder isn't exactly a screaming V8 I would have expected some noise, after all it is based on a rally car. I'd definitely recommend ordering an exhaust system to go on the car immediately. I guess this is why the car has the artificial engine sound through the speakers. The only positive from the quiet exhaust is that you can hear the turbo, which is fun when flooring it and lifting off then hearing the turbo vent to atmosphere.
    Final Thoughts:
Overall it's a good car and fairly priced when you consider all the performance technology it features, with the 0% finance currently available it makes the car a very tempting proposition. However it's not as involving as the 86/BRZ and lacks that extra feel of precision. It's therefore not a car I'd look at replacing my BRZ with. I am tempted to order one as a second car due to it's features and uniqueness which I hope will mean it holds value quite well. If I was to score it out of 10, I'd probably say a 7 is fair based on my 25minute test drive.
I'm looking forward to reading @Lauren's inital review to see if any of my thoughts match her's.
    Thanks for reading.

Keethos got a reaction from oversteer in Fensport Performance EcuTek ECU Remaps
Luckily after getting my Xmas bonus early, on Tuesday 26th November, I messaged Adrian to see if he could squeeze me in (as I knew they were mega busy) to get my car remapped with an EcuTek on the road remap and also the purchasing and fitting of the Whiteline Positive Shift gearbox mount.  To my surprise, Adrian was able to squeeze me in not 3 days later, so on Friday 29th November, I wondered over to Fensport to have my mods done.

To my surprise, Musketeer also rocked up to get some work done (hopefully he'll jump on at some point and tell people about his mods), but my car was up on the ramps first and within 10 mins, the positive shifter was done and dusted, so then came the remap as Musketeer's car went up on the ramps.

Adrian was an absolute star when it came to the remap, explaining everything that he was doing, what parameters he was changing, what EcuTek are up to and how the software is developing.  He gave plenty of information to make sure that you understood what exactly you were paying for.  Not only that, but he made sure that the map was spot on, he would flash, test, tweak and re-test until he was 100% sure that both he and I were happy with the map (one of the main reasons I chose Adrian for the remap over other tuners, besides other customer recommendations, not to say other tuners don't do this but I knew Adrian definitely did it).

So once I had chosen how I wanted my 4 maps to be set up and laid out:

Map 1 = Full Performance + Launch Control + Flat Foot Shifting

Map 2 = Eco + RON95 (for when you're cruising on long commutes or you can't find decent fuel)

Map 3 = Full Performance + Launch Control + Flat Foot Shifting + Rev Matching

Map 4 = Full Performance (not really used)

Adrian flashed an existing map that he had already mapped with a similar car (courtesy of Jay as we both have Non Res Cobra Exhaust + CAT Delete + Drop in Air Filter) and we set off to get a log/test the map and to begin the on road remap rather than just sticking it on a Dyno and mapping in a simulated static environment.  The map was good and the car performed well and at this point, Adrian could have easily sent me on my way job done, but he's a perfectionist at heart, he's yet to see 2 cars that are exactly identical (even between complete stock cars) and could see areas on my map that could be improved.  So as we sat in a lay-by, Adrian started to work his magic to tweak the numbers, flashed the car again and off we went for another quick test.  Some areas improved, some areas didn't, so again, pulled over, more tweaks, another flash and off we went again.  This process continued on another 4 or 5 times until we were completely happy with the map, Adrian really had to work for his money this time round as we were on the road mapping for roughly 2 and a half hours.  The main issue was the fact that I was running Tesco Momentum RON99 fuel and Adrian has yet to tune a car running Momentum rather than Shell V Power or BP Optimax which are better fuels to run over the supermarket stuff, this meant that my map had to be tweaked with a bit more of a safety margin to suit that fuel.

NB> Subsequently, I've been told by an old friend now who works in the fuel industry that supermarket fuel is bad for cars if used for an extended period of time and can cause issues/damage, something about poor additives etc and Shell being the best fuel around, then BP etc.  Don't know how true or how accurate his info is but I think I'll play it safe and try and use Shell as much as possible, just a shame that there aren't enough Shell garages around me that are convenient.

So after a long days mapping and a jolly long chat with Musketeer and everyone at Fensport, I finally jumped into my car and drove home....sadly however, due to traffic, I wasn't really able to push the car but I could tell that the car was more urgent and would pull more than before.  Went out for a drive today and gave the car a bit more of a pacing and you can definitely feel the improvement.  The eco mode doesn't feel that much sluggish compared to full performance mode and the added toys are pretty cool, especially the flat foot shifting (where you plant your foot greater than 70% throttle, clutch down and the car will hold the revs while you change gear and release the clutch again).  Launch control I've not tried yet, might try and find a quiet road somewhere tomorrow to test it out and as for rev matching, it works well but only when you're really on it and when your revs are above 3000rpm.  You have to be above 3000rpm when you brake and then press the clutch, what happens then is that the car will blip the throttle for you to change gear and release the clutch again.  Not overly fussed about these 2 toys even though launch control is available in the very first map (map 1 which is the default after starting the car every time) as you can't use launch control unless you follow a set sequence/routine, and rev matching is only on map 3 as I tend to toe heel myself so won't really need it but I've got it there just in case.  I haven't really pushed the car hard enough yet to really tell how well the positive shift mount is working, while stationary or while pootling along, you won't really notice the improvement, but when driving a lil more swiftly/hastily, the car does seem to be changing gears more smoothly and does feel a lil more.....well......positive and more direct, not to say that stock was vague but with the mount, it just feels a lil better overall so far.

All in all, I'm very happy with Adrian and his work and would highly recommend him for any work especially an ECU remap.  And what's even more awesome about getting a remap from Adrian is that as EcuTek continue to unlock other areas for tuners to manipulate and tweak and as Adrian continues to play with the EcuTek to improve his or anyone else's map (or even if you weren't happy with the map that he has done for you), at any point, you can just let him know, pop on down and he'll update and tweak the map to include any new features or to suit your needs and he's always around for any questions and support.

I'll be sure to give another update once I've driven the car more and once I've had my car dyno'd to see how it's performing now.

Photos are available to buy from the site with the order form, there's usually anywhere between 20-50 full resolution unwatermarked of each car depending on runs. All funds raised goes towards maintaining the equipment and servers (moving during the winter to a better service) and a Cosworth habit.

Right, first thoughts on potential mods

As a background - this is my weekend car, with estimated 3-4k miles p.a and hopefully 5-6 track days a year (and may be occasional long bank weekend trip to Wales or Cornwall). Main objective is to keep it comfortable on London and S&E roads and manage abovementioned occasional track day.

Will keep stock 17" wheels for now considering limited track plans (not sure 18" will make much difference for me apart from being able to fit larger brakes and tyres)

    1. Brakes - thinking about replacing fronts with Tarox 328mm kit (grooved or japanese) and rear with Tarox disk and paint calipers to match fronts (red or black?). APs are just a lot more expensive - cant justify then considering limited track plans.
(Alternative is to keep stock for a while and just paint calipers or may be replace disks only).

    2. Tyres - will keep stock, but let's see how they perform. Then will change to YokoV105 or Pilot Sport4.

    3. Coilovers - good offers now at DemonTweaks. Was originally thinking about FlexAs, but tempted by KW Variant 3 (at £300 off). From reviews I like Bilstein B16, but wonder if thats ott for what I am after.

    4. Cosmetics - just tint back and small sides, cant think of anything else for now (may be get black Toyota badges).

    5. New exhaust and remap - thats probably for next year. Very tempted with TD offer, but its just so far north from South London . Will need to keep it reasonably quiet.

Would appreciate any recommendations/ thoughts and constructive criticism 😁

I met the bulk of the club at the Silverstone Japfest where I had my MK1 MX-5 on show and had a good chat about the different exhaust options and more. I've also met a white GT86 and two black ones at a local meet by Mannington Roundabout in Swindon who encouraged me to join the forum. After looking lots as a guest I've decided to join and get involved.
I'm looking forward to getting involved with the club and attending events in the car when it finally comes! Feels like so long away ....

A bit late but amazing day, even with 3 hours sleep, made it to Kendrew Airfield in good time, however, being my first time at Kendrew and it being an airfield with cones and tall grass, it took a couple of runs to get used to the circuit (there was quite a few times that I turned too early and even the wrong way at one point).
I was looking forward to this circuit as I heard there was plenty of run off and nothing to hit.....until I realised that there were plenty of big cones and barriers after blind bends due to the tall grass which you wouldn't want to slide into (fear of digging in and rolling or hidden large manhole covers) but even so, I wanted to really push the Celica as it felt like I couldn't push her as hard at the previous tracks. After getting a void run and then a reasonable time (1:56.10), I struggled to improve. I tried pushing harder with no luck, tried driving more smoothly and trying to go slow in fast out but again no improvement. Then thanks to Ricenurner and old man Special K who suggested to try using 2nd gear more to force me to slow down even more for an even more slow in fast out style of driving and boom, 1:55.50. Sadly even with this improvement I was still last in our class with only 1 timed lap left but I knew where I could improve.
So after siking myself up but then waiting at the line for a while, I finally managed to pull a good run together. Realising that the circuit consisted of primarily quick transitioning corners, I was able to stay in 2nd throughout most of the corners without bouncing off the limiter much but instead remaining within the power band. The improvement over the previous run was mainly on an awkward "can't tell if it's a hair pin or not" corner where I would always run wide and scrub off too much speed. So this time I made sure that I slowed right down to clip the apex the best I could which gave me a good line through a slight chicane before foot flat down for the longest straight (and only real straight besides the straight through the finish line) and boom, 1:53.71....getting me to 3rd (though there was only 4 of us in the class 😜 ) and only being less than a second behind Rich who I've been chasing all season, usually being a few seconds behind in each round. To my surprise, I actually got a trophy for 3rd so well chuffed.....not as chuffed as the 2nd place trophy at Woodbridge but that was in the 86 which I still miss sprinting with but bring on the next round in the Celica at Anglesey on Sunday 20th August!!!.... can't wait!!!
A massive thanks to everyone today who helped organise, manage and run such an awesome day as well as thanks to those who took part and even just spectated!
Big congrats to Kevin for winning the class N1 class for the GT86s, followed by Thomas and Tim.  It was also great to see some new faces joining in, especially Debbie for finally joining in rather than just spectating, I expect to see you on track at Anglesey!!!

@DanJ - To answer your question, if you bulk by insurance from Morris, you don't have to give tracks and dates straight away but it might exclude some tracks.

Had the full assessment and estimate through and given the go ahead to start work, vehicle is being transferred to the body shop and assuming there's no further hidden damage, I should have it back in 4-6 weeks. I'm targeting a return to form for Simply Japanese on 30th July. Not planning any upgrades as the costs of a carbon bootlid etc outweighs the OEM replacement + paint.
Bill is slightly less than first thought and Rich said he'd try to keep the costs down where possible, still a hefty whack though but at least when I get it back I'll be sure it's back to full health.

Picked up my 14' TRD today.

I am in love. This car is so fun and you can enjoy it all within legal speeds! I am so glad I bought this. Now I actually see the hype. It's just so responsive and everything feels right. The only downside is my contacts won't sync with bluetooth and the stock speakers are a bit meh.

Just got back.  The car has been phenomenal. Really fun to drive (glad I changed the manifold and had it remapped), eminently practical  and very comfortable and it got a lot of attention wherever we went. We only saw one other GT86/BRZ  on the whole trip and that was a red one coming out of Kidderminster on Day 1.  It needs a good clean now inside and out and of course some major bodywork. We did 2,700 miles and averaged 36.5 mpg, which is quite good for a sports car I think.  Next trip is to the Belgian Grand Prix in August but before that, and before a visit to the body shop, I have two more hillclimb events at Loton Park next weekend. Lots more photos like this one on my blog https://beambreaking.wordpress.com/
Was a shame I had to miss today's TSS event but hope to rejoin soon.
    Cheers

Putting up for sale my Sprintex 210+ Intercooled Supercharger (Will be putting pictures up tonight @Lauren )
Looking for £2600, it's been on my car for about 2.5 years and hasn't played up once. The only reason i'm selling it is I could do with the money right now and i'm looking at going for a more suitable track solution. This kit can get a bit toasty on a warm day but none the less has always performed well on track also.
It will come with everything that comes off the car which should in theory mean it's good to be fitted  Currently has a 70mm Raceseng pulley fitted but I will supply the standard pulley also.
With the 70mm pulley it's producing 260HP at the Hubs. Currently fitted still but will remove after a 50% deposit.
