BRZ-123 reacted to itsuki in BEWARE! Tuning Developments are scammers
I was waiting for the situation to be resolved to give an update, but given how people have started chipping in again I thought I'd share how things are going on my side:
Mike finally replied and told me the manifold was on it's way, but wasn't able to give a delivery company or tracking number the multiple times I asked, let alone an expected date of arrival. After some back and forth I asked Mike for a refund, and to his credit he accepted and told me he would make a bank transfer the following day. That was 2 weeks ago, I still haven't gotten my money back and have sent 3 emails that received no reply. So yeah, not great. -

BRZ-123 got a reaction from Hypnosis in Greddy Turbo kit
Abbey Motorsport have been an importer of Sprintex. If you go for it, please buy the intercooled one. Do check with them as they never took off and we have very few of them around. Abbey started recommending Harrop kits after the initial couple of years. Harrop is no longer available, i believe or is on hold. Worth checking that option with Abbey as well.

I lied, there was once a demo car by a scottish company called RA Motorsport Development (the company has now closed down) which had the Greddy turbo kit fitted, however they sold the car to an international customer in 2015.

BRZ-123 reacted to will300 in Greddy Turbo kit
The Greddy turbo kit isn't a popular option here in the UK, as most people have gone for the AVO Turbo kit from Fensport or Tuning Developments own turbo kit. I'm also not sure if the turbo kit is available anymore, as the Greddy USA website lists it a discontinued, see: http://www.greddy.com/products/turbochargers/all-turbo-kits/filter:make:Scion/. However the Japanese website has no mention of it being discontinued: https://en.trust-power.com/products/turbo/【zn6zc6】greddy-bolt-on-turbo-kit-t518z-10cm2-non-catalyzer/
As for owners of the kit I can't think of a single car fitted with the Greddy kit. There are three owners, that I'm aware of who have a replica kit, made by a company called Speed by Design which was a direct copy of the Greddy kit, but this kit had massive quality control issues and has since been discontinued.
I suspect the reason the Greddy kit never really sold here was the lack of availability and it's price. Looking around at the UK 86/BRZ specialists, only Torqen list the kit on their website: https://www.torqen.uk/toyota/toyota-gt86/turbos-superchargers/turbo-kits/4284-toyota-gt86-greddy-t51z-tuner-turbo-kit-11510094.html
However for this price it's near enough the same price as a fitted TD or AVO turbo, but for just the turbo kit, so you'd need to factor in installation costs as well.
You could also import the kit (assuming it's still available) from RHDJapan: https://www.rhdjapan.com/trust-greddy-t518z-bolt-on-turbo-kit-without-sports-catalyzer-86-zn6-brz-zc6.html, however whilst this looks cheap, you've got to add shipping which is £300, then there will be atleast another £500 for shipping and import taxes and finally installation, around £1000. This means your still looking at around £4,500 for the kit.
It also worth mentioning Greddy made a couple of different versions of the kit with turbo options and kits with and without catalytic converters. The one you want is the T518Z kit as this was designed for the stock engine and fuel system.
There's more information about the kit here on the US forum: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68154&highlight=greddy
Hope this helps.

BRZ-123 got a reaction from tomlee80 in GR86 Is Coming and it won't be around long... Is it worth keeping the GT or cashing out now and reserving the GR?
This is the person who made the comments there on that Toyota Mag site.
Bottom line is simple, if you are buying it as an investment car, dont think of it that way. If you are buying it as a car to enjoy and keep for the next 10 yrs or so to enjoy the front engine rwd pure sports car ethos, then yes go for it. It is superior to the GT86 in nearly every way.
Financially , like Lauren said, what deals will you get is a ?
Personally, having driven the manual BRZ for so long and getting frustrated with the local traffic, i am interested in the automatic but will only buy if it comes with the Subaru safety and convenience kit (now called Star by Toyota in their Canada launch) which has the auto emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, remote car start and heating/air con start. So waiting for more info...
If they come to the UK as specced above ( which is the Canadian spec), for me , its a worthwhile upgrade as a comfortable GT car as am not after a track weapon.

@Feemono & anyone else interested, At the recent Donington trackday I noticed two cars didn't have the little intake resonator despite having an otherwise stock intake. However what both cars did have was the Tuning Developments exhaust manifold, I therefore suspect that TD remove this as part of there upgrade package, most likely so it doesn't get mellted by the hot exhaust.

The car is boosted well with the Harrop/Rogue/TD performing beautifully, it handles just right with the H&R Super Sport springs and Bilstein B8s, there's plenty of grip balanced with playfulness from the 235/40 PS4s on 18 x 8.75" XXRs, and I've adorned it with some subtle personalisations.
What next? Time, finally, for a big brake kit. I'm keeping it sensible. After all, my car is strictly for road use as my daily commuter. After discussing it with Scott at Abbey Motorsport, I'm going with an AP Racing 330 kit for the fronts. Just braided lines for the rears, keeping the stock calipers/discs and Cosworth Streetmaster pads.
It's booked in, together with the MOT, for 1st April as I try to make each visit to Abbey a worthwhile one. At least the car should be clean by then.

And its now official..... a conical filter loses power...
To summarize, Subaru have done enough R&D to place the intake at the right location. If we do not use the OE location and just fit a conical filter, heat soak will take away any gains and you will lose power. My personal analysis has been that aftermarket Panel Filters though give a bit more power let in more sand / silica which has been proven time and again through my used oil analysis. So honest suggestion, dont play with the intake unless you are doing it for the induction sound and no power gains and potential impact to the engine long term..

All the pictures of the crash bar I've seen have it. It must be something Subaru do at the factory.

I need it personally as I ferry my little one to football matches and events all the time and am watching him on the ground working hard. Once we finish , I want the car to be pre heated. Electric seats to be on full blast. Same with an early morning departure to work..
BMW charge for the privilege and so do many others. Am happy to pay but want it factory set up and having a sim inside so it works everywhere , not just on my drive.

Thanks, I was ready to try something very different for 2022 but the situation surrounding this car is Europe has twisted my arm enough to commit to it. I think my fiancé is more excited than me at the minute lol.
I have no further official information on spec other than what Lauren has already put, my deposit is probably more of a gentleman's agreement at this stage as opposed to an official Toyota action. From what I've gathered from other European countries and what's being fed to the US, the colour palette you see is what will be offered to the UK, so unfortunately, as lovely as it is, there will be no Scarlet Flare, but the colour codes do appear different from the GT86. Don't expect much movement on order books until at least the end of Q1, deliveries being late Q2 or longer by the sounds of it.
In terms of spec differences I'm putting it out there and going with;
Base
17 inch 2 tone (black with machined face) alloy wheels on Primacys, cloth interior non heated seats, keyless entry, dual climate, headunit with AA and Car play, 6 speaker audio, no ducktail spoiler
Premium
18 inch (satin black) wheels on PS4s, 'ultra suede' half leather heated seats, keyless entry, dual climate, headunit with AA and Car play, 8 speaker audio with amplifier, ducktail spoiler (optional?).
Options?
Probably parking sensors, boot fitted subwoofer and perhaps the red carpet interior? but then again that might be a Japan only option, along with the larger 9" headunit.
Don't take this as gospel but I am 90% certain its going to be along those lines.
