It’s been a while since I’ve update this thread, and that’s mostly as the car has been running without fault, the only issue that’s been niggling for the last while is a crunchy shift on 2nd gear, something that becomes audibly worse as gearbox temperatures rise during a session on track.
I was pretty sure the issue was a worn synchro even through the gearbox already had carbon synchros installed by PAR Engineering when the straight cut gearset was originally installed by them. I intended on farming out the job of rebuilding the gearbox but pickings are slim here in Ireland and I couldn’t find anyone that instilled any confidence when I spoke to them so decided I’d just go ahead and do it myself.
The patient on the operating table

For the most part the gear sets, shafts and synchros were in good order with the exception of 2nd gear. Unfortunately it appears the carbon synchro had delaminated and in turn the poor alignment had pretty much damaged all the engagement teeth on the gear itself. Its hard to see from the photos but the damage was sufficient to warrant a new 2nd gear from PAR Engineering which took a number of weeks to arrive.
    Damaged 2nd Gear

Once the new 2nd gear arrived it was time to put it all back together

Thankfully with that lot completed and a couple of track-days since reinstall under my belt I can say that 2nd gear changes are now butter smooth

@Feemono & anyone else interested, At the recent Donington trackday I noticed two cars didn't have the little intake resonator despite having an otherwise stock intake. However what both cars did have was the Tuning Developments exhaust manifold, I therefore suspect that TD remove this as part of there upgrade package, most likely so it doesn't get mellted by the hot exhaust.

will300 got a reaction from BRZ-123 in Greddy Turbo kit
I lied, there was once a demo car by a scottish company called RA Motorsport Development (the company has now closed down) which had the Greddy turbo kit fitted, however they sold the car to an international customer in 2015.

will300 got a reaction from BRZ-123 in Greddy Turbo kit
The Greddy turbo kit isn't a popular option here in the UK, as most people have gone for the AVO Turbo kit from Fensport or Tuning Developments own turbo kit. I'm also not sure if the turbo kit is available anymore, as the Greddy USA website lists it a discontinued, see: http://www.greddy.com/products/turbochargers/all-turbo-kits/filter:make:Scion/. However the Japanese website has no mention of it being discontinued: https://en.trust-power.com/products/turbo/【zn6zc6】greddy-bolt-on-turbo-kit-t518z-10cm2-non-catalyzer/
As for owners of the kit I can't think of a single car fitted with the Greddy kit. There are three owners, that I'm aware of who have a replica kit, made by a company called Speed by Design which was a direct copy of the Greddy kit, but this kit had massive quality control issues and has since been discontinued.
I suspect the reason the Greddy kit never really sold here was the lack of availability and it's price. Looking around at the UK 86/BRZ specialists, only Torqen list the kit on their website: https://www.torqen.uk/toyota/toyota-gt86/turbos-superchargers/turbo-kits/4284-toyota-gt86-greddy-t51z-tuner-turbo-kit-11510094.html
However for this price it's near enough the same price as a fitted TD or AVO turbo, but for just the turbo kit, so you'd need to factor in installation costs as well.
You could also import the kit (assuming it's still available) from RHDJapan: https://www.rhdjapan.com/trust-greddy-t518z-bolt-on-turbo-kit-without-sports-catalyzer-86-zn6-brz-zc6.html, however whilst this looks cheap, you've got to add shipping which is £300, then there will be atleast another £500 for shipping and import taxes and finally installation, around £1000. This means your still looking at around £4,500 for the kit.
It also worth mentioning Greddy made a couple of different versions of the kit with turbo options and kits with and without catalytic converters. The one you want is the T518Z kit as this was designed for the stock engine and fuel system.
There's more information about the kit here on the US forum: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68154&highlight=greddy
    Hope this helps.

The majority of companies offer both a front & rear kit.
However you don't need to do the rears, just doing the fronts will be sufficient.
Rear calipers are mostly just for looks.
It depends on which Brembo front calipers you are referring to.

A full rebuild is around the £4K mark, if you only need the top half of an engine it might be cheaper.
Here's a couple of places / people that might be able to help you source an engine. They can be found from £2000 to £4000.

You wont get any increase in NVH with the STi or TRD engine mounts, as these are similar to the OEM design, just using a firmer rubber.
I'd avoid the Perrin and Cusco ones as they are predominately made from metal and are known to increase the NVH.

You ideally don't want it going above 125°c, without an oil cooler. It'd take some going to get it that hot on the street mind.
Just make sure you run a decent oil and you should be fine.
For referrence I'll happy run laps on the track with my oil at 125°c so long as it's stable at that temperature. However I'm also running Millers Nanodrive CFS oil, which is rated for 125°c with temperature spikes upto 150°c.

People always show washed gleaming cars in scenic locations, so I thought I'd show the darkside.
It's dirty, unwashed, up in the air for some maintenance, getting ready for some hard miles in the summer sun.
Please excuse the mess behind it, I've just moved house.

will300 got a reaction from BRZ-123 in Torque low - why?
Don't forget our cars have quite a high compression ratio, which is favourable to N/A applications not boosted applications.
Using you're above list, all the car listed have a lower ratio.
    1. GR Yaris - 10.5:1
    2. Golf GTi - 9.6.1
    3. Civic Type R - 9.8:1
And as @Varelco states the conrods weren't specifically designed with boosted power in mind so they were made to support a lower torque limit.
