Just don't like the look of it from any angle at all. It doesn't make me think of the old supra either.

I would suggest that this is probably the price point for this type of platform that is not shared with lower grade standard common models. I mean if a M140 is £35k+ and that is sold in huge numbers in the standard car ranges, something like this will always be north of £40-45k. That wouldn't be a problem unless there is already many well established "go to" competitors as well as other newer alternatives (A110 springs to mind). Someone pointed out on the other forum that not only is the price similar but likely the financial deals will not be comparative to a Cayman either as the residuals will never be as good. This is aimed at the Supra fanboys really, given the "Return of the Legend" marketing and it seems like this isn't keeping many of them happy either from my experience on the groups on FB etc.
Plus I just don't understand why they've kept the damn thing under wraps for soooo long. I don't think that it has done any good for the "hype"..... I kind of lost interest late last summer.  Plus there have been so many leaks, the reveal is only going to cement what pretty much everyone already knows.

I think this is the right place for it, as we shall be mocking it for its portly kerb weight, impractical cargo, "dynamic service intervals",

    Hi Everyone,
Finally converted from a long-time forum spectator to a real life owner! I recently bought a red Aero, and instantly became the butt of every fast and furious joke or 'Do you take that tea tray around so you can have a picnic anywhere?' comment that my family can think of. Don't really care though, I'm pretty delighted with the car.
So I'm looking forward to many happy miles of GT86 ownership, meeting other members up here in Scotland, some track events/time, and of course small village pariah-dom, ahead!

I would not want to turn off a dash cam in heavy slow traffic just to save the battery, but I would wait to eat a waffle once the traffic had thinned out.  I will therefore raise the issue of domestic appliances with Toyota soonest!

I did say supercharged was a good option (para 3) but Cost is why they did not do it. Yaris GRMN is a commuter car platform fettled and sold for £26,295 while a regular Yaris is £12,995 i.e. 100% premium over a standard car. GT is a totally new non shared platform, so they have to make cost compromises and not throw in boost which is why an aftermarket super/turbo for 5K to 6K is a steal on a car worth 25K (20% premium).
Doing the manifold and tune makes the GT good enough, at least for my liking but each to their own.

very nice! the evo 6 will still be very raw too unlike the bmw which was very numb and quite boring. I have my 86 in for the TD N/A package in february which will hopefully just add that bit of extra fizz it needs but more importantly remove the torque dip, otherwise I don't really feel the need for Fi personally. 30mph in the 86 feels like 80mph in the bmw etc etc

Many turbo even family cars & SUVs can win it in straight line. But in twin you can outbrake / outturn them, and enjoy better handling/more fun of driving. Don't expect from it what it isn't (fast straight line accelerating car), try it as it is meant to (relatively cheap good handling momentum car with slightly more practicality them mx5) at eg. some twisty road and very probably you won't be dissapointed. Hard to judge how many and to what extent mod them. After all, majority probably run stock, are not in forum and probably are not participating in any meets, while many forum users may mod to some extent theirs. It's hard to draw any statistics from niche of users that are here and try to generalize upon all the possible average owners of these cars.
BTW, i suggest first simply to test drive one, if it's what you really want. Nothing will tell you better if twins will be to your liking or not, and if lack of FI pushing into seats may set you off more then good handling in twisties. After all, different people do have different preferences, and there is nothing wrong with liking something else. And own testdrive will tell much better then words of people that may like different things

There's not much in it I admit, but equal length is the obvious choice and I was chasing peak figures for sprinting. I didn't go for UEL as I didn't want my car to sound like it was broken.

@church has answered the first point you make brilliantly. On the other one, there is only one tuner, who does before readings properly for every car, which is TD. If you see their map posts , there are some in 180s but many in 190s too. There will always be some variation engine to engine.

I came from a remapped BMW 335d M-Sport Coupe with 370bhp / 700nm torque (yes, you read that right) and I still prefer my BRZ.  It gives me more driving fun, is more challenging and is far more rewarding to drive.

    Hi, I'm Iain from Lincolnshire.
I've had my 13 plate, sterling silver GT86 a few months. I've already put some sound proofing and FOCAL speakers in so I can actually hear music. I'm looking for a bit more exhaust noise, and maybe refurbing the standard wheels.
    Thought I'd say hello.
