chillismoke reacted to Steeps in Odd marketing from Steven Eagell
Just to continue moaning about dealers I had the same one call me up as it flagged on their system my PCP was due to expire in 6 months time and now was the best time to get new car thoughts stuck in my head. Thought I'd play along as some other members had upgraded to Aero. The dealer wouldn't offer any figures over the phone for either a new car or my partex and promised a call back a week later to arrange a visit... No phone call.
So out of curiosity I plugged in what I wanted in CarWow (fully loaded Aero) and 2 dealers came up with a fairly reasonable price that was better than the "manager's special" Steven Eagell run twice a year (one of them was a SE dealer too!). To see how well the dealers knew their product I messaged 3 of them to say I was interested and their price was competitive... but could they get hold of one in blue like the Jap/Euro markets had. Only one dealer replied to say they couldn't do blue as it's not manufactured in that colour (Jap/Euro/NZ do!), the rest didn't reply to my questions at all.
I've learned the error of my ways, when I change car I'll probably buy from an owners club rather than new from dealer.

Only a minor update, but I have managed to source myself some nice wheels for a good price, they tick all the boxes (JDM, lightweight and strong)
Specs as below :
Advan Racing RC2 5x100 17x7.5j et35.
They aren't as wide as I had initially hoped to go, but I love the look of the wheels, the fact they are slightly wider than stock a lot lighter than stock wheels and have a nice offset.
And to top it off they seem to be a rare wheel, at least on this platform.
The wheels I have bought will come in white, I don't know whether to leave them white or have the returned in bronze like so in the picture.
I need to get myself some lug nuts and Advan centre caps and new tyres when they arrive.

Ive got a custom built catback with secondary cat delete and 4" Titanium style tips. I asked the guys to put in a dummy cat so it may sneak past an MOT or visual inspection if needed.
System is brutally loud on a cold start but once warm it purrs, and doesn't drone on the motorway whatsoever.
Considering getting a decat manifold in the near future and maybe putting back in a HFC in the main pipe.

I actually thought the debate was useful, so can't see why we'd remove posts.
I have the Tein Streetflex setup which is the one they did before the A and Z were out. Mine are like the Z's but are rebuildable and I do have some custom valving increasing my rear rate. I find mine good, but yes, hit a pothole and you will know about it. Obviously when it runs out of travel you'll get a fairly big hit through the chassis. Is it worse than stock in this scenario? Well yes, it is. Although the general ride is more controlled and overall better.
Sure, if you spend a fortune and I did look into it, then you will gain. Stuff like the monotube Ohlins and AST etc is appealing. My main reason with sticking with a twin tube design that necessitates a narrow diameter piston and less oil capacity was simply based on longetivity reasons. I'm not saying a monotube setup won't last, but it seems that a twin tube certainly does if that makes sense.
Unless you've got £4-8K to spend on something really specialised like Reiger etc which top rally cars use, you aren't going to get the cake and eat it scenario, but you may find yourself coughing that cake up when they need a rebuild every 10K miles. So all in all it has to be some compromise and particularly so when it comes to a daily car. Add in a ton of mileage as I have done and I needed something that would improve the car overall but be reliable. I was a little worried about the EDFC with all those stepper motors, but over 50K+ miles on them, they have been totally faultless, so I'm very pleased with their reliability.

Maybe they are relying on us being pissheads? They'd be right.

Looks fine to me, even if we don't get 16, still going to be cheap

If I'm along for the ride I'd like a room, stayed in far worse with work (and on TSS when no premierinn was available), could possibly make a weekend of it too.

6,6 here and I can drive for 800 miles without getting any back pain, I also have the alacantara heated seats. (The heated seat is so good for a bad back)

We're not having a twin screw to start with. Part of the deal I'm getting is that it's a development kit with Rotrex. So it will be the same style supercharger as the HKS kit on the FA20. Changing that to a twin screw at a later date isn't too difficult or expensive so I will definitely have the whine back at some point
So we'll start off like this
And eventually have this
