There are 2 motors attached to the side of the heater system behind the front dash fascia. If you remove the glove box u can see the bottom motor. Its black with a large white cog on the side. If thats the one u should be able to remove and replace without removing the dashboard. If its the top motor then it is a dash out job.
see the attached post to put the system into test mode:  Climate control error codes - GT86/BRZ General Chat - Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ Drivers Club

Depends what front lip you have and how low you are looking at going. I had a maxton lip and only dropped 15/20mm and it caught on everything, to the point it eventually broke.

Have to admit that I'm not feeling the love for either model and will quite happily be sticking to my 2014 version. Whilst the 2.4 ltr engine is a nice subtle upgrade the rest of the car as far as looks, styling and interior just dont do it for me.

There is some slight movement with the clip when it is connected to the radio, so i have added a small piece of 3m tape onto the bottom of the clip and reinstalled. This appears to have removed the movement and is now more secure when clipped in.

BRZ-123- The wiring doesnt exist for the dash speakers on a UK car but it is easy to wire a set in. Took about 30 minutes to route the wires behind the dash and down the centre console.
If you have an after market stereo then you can just run the wires behind the dash and wire them directly to the H/U as they normally have enough connections to do this. If like me you are keeping the OEM stereo then it wont be powerful enough to run those as well as the tweeters and 6.5" doors speakers, so its best to fact in an amp. Just adding that midrange makes a massive difference and you find that you dont need to have the volume up so high to hear the music.

Try these if you dont mind copies. Even with shipping will work out cheaper than the OEM ones.

    I made my own.
MDF base with the universal holders that came with the gauges, fitted and bonded into the base. Housing then protected and flocked in black. Unit then mounted from underneath using the heater vent and clipped back into place. Wiring routed through the lower dash up through the speaker grille. Cost just shy of £35 with the flocking being the most expensive part. 60mm Oil temp and water temp gauges as staying N/A.

Just about to renew my other car with Chris knott using this service. Sent the request and had a phone call at 9am the following day. Quote was £300 cheaper than what I was currently paying so fingers crossed that the quote I received is still valid tomorrow morning. So far a very positive experience and will be looking at insuring the GT86 when it is due in January.

Welcome and good choice in car. (not red though as we all know pearl white is the best colour :) )
Mine cost £10K with 69,000 miles on it (14 plate) from a Toyota dealer so your budget is doable. Just check with the higher mileage ones that the 60,000 service has been completed otherwise factor in the change of spark plugs into your purchase price. I was lucky that the previous owner had the car serviced at a main dealer, so all the servicing and work was recorded up purchase.

I have a steering lock on mine as it's another added security measure that any potential thief has to get past. We have had a few car thefts around the local area and most of the comments are "I wish I had brought a steering wheel lock". Anything I can do or add to the car to make somebody think twice about stealing it then I will but ultimately it is down to personal choice.

Leave it out in the sun as much as possible as this should help with any bubbles. As others has already said dont mess with it for at least a week or 2 and then if still not happy take it back to the tinter.

The full DA polish with a full strip down and clean will be done once the weather gets better which is why I only did a quick clay bar and ultra glaze. The ultra glaze masks and fills any minor swirls and the supernatural will make it easier to wash before the summer. Hybrid is good for the winter/spring months but for the summer I will use Auto finesse Illusion which will really show of the flake in the pearl white paint.
Gyeon Bath+ is probably the best wash I have used as I normally stick with Auto finesse products. This was on offer so I thought I would give it a try. It doesnt dry streaky and adds a bit of extra protection in between waxes. Also a little goes a long way as you only need a small amount.

I have had the car now for 3 weeks and finally got round to giving the 86 a proper clean and wax.
No before or during pictures but happy with the result.
Products used are Gyeon Bathe + to clean. Clay barred and then Auto finesse Ultra Glaze to prep and then 2 coats of Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid wax. Wheels cleaned with Auto Finesse wheel cleaner and finished off with Auto Finesse mint rims and Chemical Guys Tyre Dressing to complete. Class cleaned with Gyeon Prep and then finished off with Auto Finesse Vision.

    Not 100%.
I managed to pull the panel out slightly but it looks as if at some point the rear shelf has been out and the panel has not been refitted correctly causing the plastic panel to warp out of shape. I'm off next week so weather providing I will have a better look.

I had mine 1 week before I started to swap things out.
Upgraded the tweeters and door speakers first to component units. 4 channel amp added next and upgraded the rear speakers to 4 Inch 3 ways. These are currently being powered by the amp. Just adding these has made a big difference and they are all currently on the standard head unit. Doors and rear quarters have been sound deadened. Currently awaiting the 10 custom sub enclosure to be delivered and the JBL sub will be added once pay day arrives. So far it has only cost me £185 and then another £60 for the sub so it can be done on a budget. They may not be high end components like the focals but as it stands at the moment I dont currently feel the need to change the head unit as the functionality is perfect for my requirements,

Already upgraded the stock speakers all round and pre-wired in the amp ready for the 10" sub install next month. This is always the first thing I usually do with all my cars. But this time I will keep the stock head unit as the functionality is perfect for what I need.
Gearbox shifter bush upgrade will also be done next month.
Front & rear side skirts and rear diffuser extension (going for the carbon look if i ever find ones I like).
Once the existing tyres give out will upgrade to 225/45/17 tyres to give a bit of extra grip.
Finally the NA tune from TD with UEL headers and maybe lowering but i actually like how the car sits and handles so I dont really want to change this. Will give me time to save up for this over the course of the next 3/4 years.
And finally paint those horrible coloured brake calipers a different colour.
Oh and added the frt zunsport grille this morning
