No problem had some great results with them, you need to size the tyres accordingly and you gain grip vs nimbleness. Horses for courses I guess.

I'm very interested in the action days, there's usually a range of things going on with the chance to go on track. It would be good to get a group of cars on stand at a few of them as they got a lot of interest last time. I've attached a pic below of them both.
My car went out on their 'Supercar Saturday' doing fast laps for stroke victims and went well however it won't be out on a action day as I don't trust some of the people action days attract. They usually have a fast car and no skill, or just rely on their electronics to get them round!

Ended up going with Sky for GT86. They came down on price a bit and although still more expensive than main insureinsurers i decided to pay for an option of having mods added later on.
 
But, frankly, Sky was the only specialist insurance broker I had on the shortlist left.
 
(DL for Lexus as they were cheapest and seem ok when i called them with questions).
 
Well, thats insurance sorted for 1 more year.

Bedford is very good to start with (as was highlighted by quite a few people here), combination of fast and slow corners, lots of run off, I also felt marshals were rather good (though i am sure few chaps banned for noise would disagree).  
Its also long enough to be interesting and once you split it into sections you challenge yourself where you feel more confident.
 
The only part i didnt particularly like was 2 straights with chicane between them. Even if you carry decent speed out of the corner, our cars are just too slow to accelerate (i could just about reach 110 ish before i had to brake again). But "slow(er)" corners are fab, I often noticed i was getting back closer to M3 on coeners that was overtaking me on straight.

Great first track day at Bedford.
 
Started slow. Quite a lot of cars (eager drivers) in the first session, but them I was pretty much the slowest on track to start with.
 
Took me nearly till the lunch to learn the track, corners and lines (well, nearly). Very pleased with my instructor (Steve Mansell) - started with quite a lot of info and detailed instructions and progressively concentrating on mistakes and where most noticeable improvements can be made.
 
Then progressed to more spirited driving in the afternoon, enjoyed a very good few laps on my own (even managed not to be s cared to overtake little Clios).
 
Last session spoiled a bit by some inconsiderate idiots trying to squeeze in last few laps and overtaking on both sides, and into corners 🤢.
 
Need to start planning next track day. Oh, and my brakes started to squeak , and 2 small chips on the front glass

Yeah it was the Forge Action Day, we had a stand and our two cars on it. The Ice cream van decided to join us as we were so lonely! Shame you didn't see the thread back in August though, would be nice to meet some more members of the forum. Where are you based?

I'm off to see the car on Monday to pay the balance but unfortunately cant take it home then as theres a mark on the parcel shelf which they are going to replace for me so they will deliver the car to me on Friday which is my next day off after Monday so have plenty of time to get quotes for insurance. As the car is only 6 months old I think it will be worth paying for the smart cover & get free GAP insurance included as well.
 
Thanks for everyone's input to help me find the right car & I didnt expect to find one so quickly but I think I have made the right choice as with no spoiler I can put whatever bodykit I want on the car without having to worry about ant existing holes. 
 
Now the fun begins as I will have to decide what modifications I want to make to the car & I have a few ideas already so will start a new thread on that soon

Right, first thoughts on potential mods
 
As a background - this is my weekend car, with estimated 3-4k miles p.a and hopefully 5-6 track days a year (and may be occasional long bank weekend trip to Wales or Cornwall). Main objective is to keep it comfortable on London and S&E roads and manage abovementioned occasional track day.
 
Will keep stock 17" wheels for now considering limited track plans (not sure 18" will make much difference for me apart from being able to fit larger brakes and tyres)
 
 
1. Brakes - thinking about replacing fronts with Tarox 328mm kit (grooved or japanese) and rear with Tarox disk and paint calipers to match fronts (red or black?). APs are just a lot more expensive - cant justify then considering limited track plans.
(Alternative is to keep stock for a while and just paint calipers or may be replace disks only).
 
2. Tyres - will keep stock, but let's see how they perform. Then will change to YokoV105 or Pilot Sport4.
 
3. Coilovers - good offers now at DemonTweaks. Was originally thinking about FlexAs, but tempted by KW Variant 3 (at £300 off). From reviews I like Bilstein B16, but wonder if thats ott for what I am after.
 
4. Cosmetics - just tint back and small sides, cant think of anything else for now (may be get black Toyota badges).
 
5. New exhaust and remap - thats probably for next year. Very tempted with TD offer, but its just so far north from South London . Will need to keep it reasonably quiet.
