    2022 Track Days

Hi All! Even though Covid 19 (19! ) is still in full swing, track days have been back to normal since spring, apart from becoming seemingly more and more expensive. It was good to see many of you on track this year (although we are still to beat 12 GT86s we had at Bedford 2 yrs ago) and lets not mention small accidents that might have happened at Brands... I even managed to reach my "target" of 10 track days despite 3 cancellations earlier in the year. I hope 2022 will be even more fun - 1st track days for some/ European trips (Spa!) for others... TDO's have started releasing their 2022 calendars (or at least first 3-4 months) and for those who can plan in advance there are some good discounts to be had. (May be @will300 can put again comprehensive spreadsheet summary if we all ask him nicely :)) TDOs Calendars We will keep this page updated to provide links to latest dates and offers from main TDOs: Javelin Trackdays Release their dates until end of April 22: Upcoming Trackdays (javelintrackdays.co.uk) Sale going on now, with some attractive winter track (snow drift?) days, Bedford for £89 anyone? MSVT Provisional dates released (FB), but cant book yet officially on their website. 2022 Dates (msvtrackdays.com) As last couple years currently have an offer of £600 track day credit for £500. (I still have unused credit left from last year) Circuit Days Dates released until July 22, discounts available before 1/1/22. Circuit Days - Schedule (circuit-days.co.uk) Some of us still have unused credit from 2021, so we'll aim to organize "club" track days with them - see some suggestions below. If you guys select couple days I will organize "club" day(s). Opentrack Have not released their dates yet, expect shortly View Dates / Book Now | OpenTrack Usually have good Boxing Day sale for forthcoming dates. And OP is probably the easier to cancel (up to 1 day prior) with automatic credit to re-use. Also... Mazda on Track Race Track Days, Circuit Days and Driving Experience Days (mazdaontrack.co.uk) Lotus on Track Events - Book a track day or browse Lotus on Track's track day calendar (lotus-on-track.com) Motorsport Events Track days - Motorsport Events (motorsport-events.com) Planning Track Days Q1 is usually good time, weather permitting, to get some cheap track days, including decent weekend options for those who may not be able to take a day-off during the week. Bedford Bedford seem to be the most popular venue for club track days (and great for novices or those who would like to try on the safest UK track). Also last weekend in November was bloody cold with some light snow coming down January, February week-day dates would be <£100 (with early discount), with weekend dates <£150 (Bedford weekend dates are getting popular and more expensive) Donington Donington Park is another popular option, particularly as it can be reached from both south and north of the country (within 2.5hrs from many of regular club track day goers). Good options, including weekends, should be available in Q1 as well. Winter track days can be <£150 even for GP configuration (with Circuitdays on Sunday, Jan 30th anyone?), although they'll get progressively more expensive once it gets warmer/ less likely to rain. Thruxton Thruxton was not particularly popular couple years ago, but its such a fast and fun circuit more and more started attending it. With reasonably cheap (and more consistent though the year) pricing, I think we are planning to be there on Friday, May 13th (Circuit Days - Thruxton (circuit-days.co.uk)) Brands Indy circuit is always fun, GP is just epic (just ask Adam...), we'll definitely be going it again. I am planning to spend some credit on Brands GP track day provided its on sale. Silverstone unfortunately stopped doing TDs with 3rd party TDOs, hopefully they'll continue with their own Feel free to provide comments and suggest your preferences. If we have enough interest, I'll try to ask for some group discount or a free garage. Look forward seeing you on track in 2022!

    ?? Next Club Meet Up & Japfest 2022 ??

Hi Rich We are doing "club" track day on November 27th at Bedford (Javelin). Probably will do at least another get together later this year, watch the calendar and FB page. 2022 event dates are not yet released, but we'll definitely be going to quite a few- Japfest, Tunerfest, Simply Japanese, Go Japan, etc! Hope to see you soon! Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  3. Trackday - Bedford GT - Saturday, November 27th £149 (Javelin) Bedford Autodrome GT Trackday (javelintrackdays.co.uk) Late November/ early December "club" track days have been popular last couple years with a number of club members selecting this to be their 1st every track day in GT86. We have selected a weekend date again, hopefully many of you would be able to attend - it can be wet and cold, but lots of fun guaranteed! There is nowhere else in the world quite like Bedford Autodrome. The venue has been purpose-built for speed and space. Bedford of the safest circuit in the UK, with lots of run off (mainly grass, not gravel pits!). Everyone is welcome. Not promising muffins this time :), but should have tea and biscuits to keep us warm. Book directly with Javelin using the link above. No club discount this time, but you can use Javelin points (or leftover credits as some of us still have it). Noise limit 101db static/ 87.5db drive-by. Check yours in advance to avoid disappointment. Car Track Days | MSVT (msvtrackdays.com) Let me know who's attending to keep track. Hope to see you there for some pre-festive season track fun!

    2021 Club & Social Events

Now, with a number of Covid cases going down and vaccination up my be its time to think (or dream) of when we can have again our club and social events and meets again. I think 1st half of the year is probably a non-starter, but according to the government 4-step plan we should be back to near normal from June 21st. So, here are some suggestions: Tunerfest South (Brands Hatch) - Sunday, June 20th Tunerfest Show – South – The Ultimate Performance Car Event (I know I said June is probably too early, but Tunerfest was always one of my favorite events (and the 1st ever I attended with the club 4yrs ago) - would love to do it again this year as 2020 was cancelled) Simply Japanese at Beaulieu - Sunday, July 25th Simply Japanese Rally | 25 July 2021 | Beaulieu, National Motor Museum Good event for entire family, can be combined with New Forest weekend. I am usually away around this time, but if I stay in the UK due to travel restrictions would be keen to do it. Go Japan! (Brands Hatch) - Sunday, September 26th Go Japan! – Japanese Automotive & Cultural Celebration I think it was probably the only "official" event in 2020 where we had a club stand. Even with social distancing it can be great fun. Autumn Action Day (Castle Combe) - Saturday, October 8th Castle Combe Race Circuit (castlecombecircuit.co.uk) Halloween Action Day (Castle Combe) - Saturday, October 30th Castle Combe Race Circuit (castlecombecircuit.co.uk) Castle Combe action days are not that popular with the club, but we have done them few years ago and also joined couple times Weekend Racers club. If you keen to attend any (or suggest any other events) let me know. If we have enough interest I will organize a club stand (and muffins for Tunerfest or Go Japan! are on me for all attendees on club stand ). ... and subject to restrictions being lifted I hope we'll do couple social meets and drives 2nd half of 2021! Look forward to seeing you guys in the coming months.

German VS Jap Monthly Breakfast Meet

Its a bit of a mix tbh. There were few nice v10 R8s, AMG GTR, but also usual suspects with Nissan GT-Rs, etc. For a morning drive, coffee and a bacon sandwich and a bit if chit-chat its fine. This will be 1st after more than a year, next one in August suppose to be bigger/ more interesting, but its on the same day (Aug 8th) as Cult at Caffeine and Machine. FB and rival Club Stands

I put events both on FB and on the forum. Its only natural that some people would be only on FB (and I guess many international FB group members may not have heard of the forum). Nothing beats meeting in person though, whether its official event, unofficial get-together or a track day. Its good we have club members (Will, Simon, Sam 😀) who regularly organize things and put them in our diaries!

    Tyre Sizes

I currently use 245/40 r18 on 9.5 wheels. Plenty of grip and they only look very slightly stretched. Next set I will try 255/35 but for 9.0 wheels I would keep 245/35 or try 245/40. I do about 6-8 track days a year. Like MPS4 (particularly in wet), and they last about 1.5yrs/ 10(ish) track days. Will try Eagle f1 supersport next to compare. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
