Erm, on the night I got my car, I read the manual from cover to cover. Doesn't everybody do that?

Here's a tip, Keith. Do your helmet strap up before you put your gloves on!

Alec got a helmet for £50 from Demon Tweeks. Seemed pretty happy with it,

I bought a Bell open face which is not as light, though is FR (if safety is your thing) and a lovely comfortable fit with a decent amount of paddng.

It is an impressive bit of kit. Even with what I would call basically startup settings for the longitudinal and lateral g-force and my programmed in speed settings, the way the car rides is lovely. Then you can fly it into a bend and voila, it goes nice and stiff and you have great control. Come out of the bend and it's back to comfortable motoring straightaway. Brilliant really!

I think it's more comfortable than standard when cruising and obviously sharper than standard when it comes to cornering. Sort of having your cake and eating it.

The support I've had from RRG Macc, the boys at Fensport and Yukiko at Tein has been second to none and I like it that everyone is so enthusiastic about getting a great setup for the GT86. I reckon between, Keith, Dave and I (and anyone else who goes for one in the near future) we'll have some great setups for all occasions. Three testers are better than one and all that. We've all agreed to share our findings, so it can only be for the common good.

In related news, it looks like I've got a good chance of a factory tour at Tein when I visit Japan this summer.

The AE86 is alive!    Here's the proof:     Very fitting that my GT gave my AE a helping hand to bring it back to life:     28 km/h on axle stands!

Okay, we have the engine and box back in the car! It's been 20 odd months since it last sat in there!    Waiting for the rain to stop so we can open the shutter doors and get the engine and box in position:    Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   Shutter going up and time for the AE86 to meet the GT86.   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   With three of us and me being underneath guiding the gearbox down, we had it all on the mounts within 15 minutes.    Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   Mocal sandwich plate for the oil cooler on and new Toyota filter added:   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   Si gets busy with all the awkward bits:   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   This pic doesn't show much, but it signifies the prop being back on the gearbox, so all is connected underneath:   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   Exhaust manifold needs some more wrapping yet:   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   Si still fiddling:   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   A bi of a problem here. The inlet seems to have got broken somewhow where it's been stored out of the car. Not sure what to do, will see if Toyota still have new ones and price up, I think. Not sure I can do much with that.   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   Still, a decent amount of progress has been made today.   Untitled by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr   We need a few bits. Apart from the radiator, I need engine oil, gearbox oil and a few odds and sods. But, will hopefully have it running in a few weeks.

Lauren got a reaction from Riceburner in New steering wheel and gearbox poly bush
Was in to see Richard at RRG Macc this morning.

Got one of those new steering wheels that Fensport sell. Richard gave me the keys to his TRD for the day which already has the steering wheel and poly bush for the gearbox fitted.

By the time I got to work, I was on the phone to him asking him to fit the poly bush gearbox mount as it makes quite a difference to the gear change. No problem he said!

I've got to say the poly bush makes the gear change just so much more precise. It really does feel snickety snick when you change gear. A great mod and not expensive either.

I do like the new steering wheel too. It's 350mm so 10mm less in diameter than standard, but it's just so much more comfortable to hold. It has sculpted sections for your hands so they rest much more comfortably on the wheel at quarter to three. Also it's a little bit thicker which I think helps too.

Here's a pic, though low light means it's a little poor:

Nick, have you got any pics of it to show how it sits in the arches from a front or rear view. ET50 is more offset than stock which is 42mm AFAIK and with a 7.5" rim it's probably going to sit into the arch more or about the same as the stock wheels.

Anyway, looks like a total bargain. Just out of interest did you get a weight for them?
