TTR reacted to DanJ in New BRZ owner
I'm definitely going to be without my car on the 18th Feb whilst its in the bodyshop, but still up for a get together and a bite to eat that day. We ended up eating at the Old Beams last Sunday, but I'll be at the Prince George on Weds next week so will speak to them then.

I can't do early February, so shall we go for the 18th Feb and try to organise one for March as well?
Plenty of good pubs/restaurants in MK to work round :-)

If I didn't have my current exhaust I'd 100% be straight on this. Looks the absolute nuts

It will be interesting to see what power this puts out! Probably not as much as we would all hope mind you.

TTR got a reaction from Knighty in Adjustable rear control arms
Kind of in the same boat as you at the moment @Knighty. But not sure that paying £500 for a pair of LCA's (Can't really see past the SPL ones) is worth the adjustability/getting rid of the camber mismatch, where I could probably better spend it on a track day or on some mods to make the car better to live with.

My Mk3 Astra was £1600 Third Party back in 2006. There's a few things you can do which has been suggested such as add your parents as named drivers as in their eyes the risk is split. Also you can lower your mileage a bit then add more if you need to later. Another thing I found that made it cheaper was to say it parked on the road at home and not the drive or in the garage. Looked into it at the time and all was mentioned was that people who park off road or garaged are more hassle for insurers as they are deemed to be more pedantic. No idea if it was just forum hearsay at the time but it dropped it £300 for me with all I've suggested.

TTR reacted to Falix in New BRZ owner
Hi all,
Not used forums properly for years, but figured I wanted to get stuck in again.
I bought my WR Blue BRZ back in October, and documented collecting it and driving round the Highlands here:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1631757&nmt=The+Scottish+Subaru+BRZ+adventure&mid=162448
Will try to get to some meets this year, seen a few around Milton Keynes now, so a local meet could be fun, it got suggested on the Facebook page but I've deactivated my account.
Thanks!

TTR reacted to CGR Automotive in Milltek weld cracked
Was just suggesting an alternative to replacing a failed part with one that will more than likely fail again I would give it a way for free, to the person who is kind enough to gift me £1078

Add a parent with no accidents to the policy as a named driver (not you as the named driver) even if they have no intention of driving the car. Might cut some of the risk and drop the quote price for comparison sites.

TTR reacted to CGR Automotive in GT86 / BRZ Manifolds
Hi Everyone!
Here is our equal length GT86 / BRZ manifold for forced induction engines. We’ve meticulously designed the manifold to make sure that the primaries are all perfectly equal, and that our collector has optimised gas flow properties. We just can’t help being perfectionists! We know it looks pretty awesome, but this is only our development system so further refinements will be brought to our production models.
We chose to develop equal length primaries coupled with a properly developed merge collector ensure that you’re getting maximum scavenging effect between cylinders therefore increase power as much as physically possible.
At CGR we don’t use billet collectors, we know that the smoother the airflow the greater the power, so we precisely construct our collectors to maximise gas flow. Although this is a very difficult way of manufacturing, this ensures the gas leaving each cylinder merges effortlessly. Most people can’t work out how we can weld them with full penetration, maybe we’re just magicians!
We're also able to offer manifolds for naturally aspirated models, and forced induction exhaust systems for people running more power than our initial 2.5" system was designed for. As usual with our products quality is very important to us, all welds are back-purge TIG welded and our bends are mandrel bend from 304 stainless steel. This forced induction manifold will be priced at £1355, the naturally aspirated version will be on sale for £1290. If you wish to add a Zircotec thermal ceramic coating we are happy to provide this at an extra cost. Get in touch for more information! www.facebook.com/cgrautomotive

I can vouch for how good this Exhaust systems gooch is. Top welds for a seamless gooch. No other way to put it really.
