Agreed it is pretty weird and not something I've seen in the past 22 years of driving so I'm a bit bemused as to how and why.

Good to know I'm not alone! Weird though. The metal of the pedal must be pretty soft.
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 Looked at mine when I was in the car this morning and it's not worn like others have at all. I've done 104K miles too. I think the rubbers are worn down more on the lower right side, but no damage to the metal of the pedal.
Rich 378 Report post Posted September 26, 2017 Had a look at mine, it is shiny in that area (also on left side of throttle and clutch). Doesn't seem to be wearing overly though.
Mike 458 Report post Posted September 26, 2017 All 3 pedals on mine look fine, brake / accelerator a little dirty... clutch more so but none seem to be wearing at all
Varelco 211 Report post Posted September 26, 2017 My brake pedal also has this wear. 27k miles and 2 years old. Does seem odd. 1 Deacon reacted to this

It can only be down to driving style, how you put your foot on the brake pedal and perhaps what kind of shoes you drive in. I only ever drive in three pairs of shoes. Racing boots, driving shoes (most of the time), really thin soled boots I wear for work and the rest of the time I drive barefoot. Perhaps wearing really heavy boots or something means more wear? Deacon 1357 Report post Posted October 27, 2017 Couple of updates. Had another day on track at Bedford this week and managed to improve further:- It was my first track day with the oil cooler fitted and the temperature didn't exceed 107° all day. My cam plate also finally arrived from Velox after being stuck in customs:- Should sort out the cam plate leak once and for all! Finally my car has been at Cooksport most of the week as they have taken over as Moton and Ast suspension in the UK. My suspension has been fully serviced and some factory updated parts have been fitted along with revalving the fronts and some changes to spring rates and lengths. The difference is quite noticeable with the ride quality in particular being improved. I'll look forward to seeing what effect this has on track next year as Cooksport are quite confident it will be a noticeable change for the better. 1 Mark-in-Stoke reacted to this

Deacon 1357 Report post Posted October 28, 2017 Today's little addition to the maintenence and upgrade process:- Many thanks to @Lucas@PartBox for bringing them along to the Midlands meet 👍 1 Lucas reacted to this
Deacon 1357 Report post Posted October 29, 2017 Swapped onto my winter wheels and tyres today as no more track days for me until the spring. I also gave the suspension a good coating with Acf50 after their recent rebuild. 1 Neal reacted to this
Deacon 1357 Report post Posted November 4, 2017 Got a little ghetto to see what effect blocking the airflow off to the oil cooler has and the answer (unsurprisingly) is quite a lot (around 10° increase in normal driving) Now to make a slightly better looking version using some clear perspex. Deacon 1357 Report post Posted November 6, 2017 3 hours ago, Rich said: Oil not getting up to temperature in normal driving? It does just slower without the cooler covered. I only do short journeys (7 miles) when I use the car for work so I'm probably not that typical for most people. I've also got a slightly higher temp thermostat to go in. Deacon 1357 Report post Posted November 7, 2017 Higher temp thermostat for the oil cooler fitted today. Seems to have given around a 10° increase in oil temps but have only driven it once since fitting so I'll see what effect it has over a few weeks. Oil temps were in the mid to high 80's at 7° ambient temperature which seems reasonable.
Deacon 1357 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 A few bits arrived today courtesy of @Lucas@PartBox First up a Cusco magnetic drain plug:- Next up some extra bracing. Cusco steering rack reinforcement and a Cusco rear chassis brace:- Finally a Cosworth baffled sump plate:- Finally, after getting increasingly fed up with the quantity of morons on the road I picked up a cheapie dash cam when I was in Aldi the other day which I fitted this afternoon:- For the price it seems fairly decent but we'll see how the recordings actually come out. 1 Lucas reacted to this
Deacon 1357 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 I also got to make good use of the winter tyres today on the way to work in the snow that we had. Definitely caused some confusion to other motorists that the 86 seemed to be having no problems while they were sliding all over the place! 😂 1 2 Tareim, Rich and surrey86 reacted to this
Deacon 1357 Report post Posted December 10, 2017 I also picked this up the other week to try:- Picked it up for a few reasons, firstly the oil cooler lines are very tight to the back of the OEM airbox even with it modified to make more space and this will leave loads of room, secondly I wanted more induction noise and thirdly it was on a really good offer from @Lucas@PartBox

It does actually come with heat shielding and I've got some zircoflex on the way to give a bit more thermal protection. There may also be something from Rasty at some point that may help.
