Ade reacted to wongy in Another coilover question
Haha love a good debate! On the bright note... I picked up some tein flex coilovers at a very reasonable price of a member on here 👀 I was very tempted to get the tuneduk springs but for a little more I bagged some of the flex coilovers so best both worlds?!

My shims were in a right state on the front, the Carbotechs were putting them through their paces! Falling apart..
The rears were still ok.
I think pad contact does make the noise, but some pads don't make that noise on light contact. Hence why your fix works.
Tbh I'm not that bothered with some pad noise. I actually used to swap the OEM pads back in for some quietness as my track pads were much much nosier! All things are relative.
See you there!

Just noticed that TunedUKs new site is up, and they’ve got a sale on their springs - £141. Worth a trip up there just to see the garage and watch Rich do an alignment. 👍🏻

New drinking game, take a shot every time Lauren mentions that she doesn't want to go to Bedford

I did yes. Mines definitely louder but only a little. Not as much as the Bedford reading seems to suggest - for that sort of increase I'd expect it to be a very noticeable increase in volume! Even my fiancée thinks the change is tiny and she definitely doesn't hold back when telling me about the things on the car she doesn't like 😂

are we sure they didn’t just leave a bunch of wadding out of the most recent batch? Should we weigh them?

Ade reacted to AJ124 in Brake upgrades - discs/pads?
I have just asked the piston sizes, well priced if it keeps the bias sensible.

Ade reacted to KevinA in Brake upgrades - discs/pads?
Can't believe I am still on stock calipers, just better discs and pads. Guess time will come to just go AP and done with it.

Stop being pedantic. The front brakes on our car are pilfered from the WRX anyway.
Its the AP racing kit for the Subaru WRX STI. AP only made one kit with that size disc and using the CP7040 caliper.
https://www.apracing.com/product_details/performance_upgrades/factory_big_brake_kits/subaru/new_age_shape_and_n14_(01-2014)-front_6_piston_kit_cp7040-1001-information_only.aspx
I have a spreadsheet with all the brake bias calculations as well comparing this to the "official" AP kits for the GT86 and the "unofficial" Essex kits as well as others.... The Official AP kit with 350x32mm disc uses the direct replacement to the CP7040; the CP9040 forged caliper. Its has exactly the same size pistons and therefore bias.

I definitely wouldn't recommend it unless you've done your research. However @Ade is running this exact setup, also @smudge has the same calipers with 360mm discs.
For those that want a 355mm kit, its good value.
Worst case it'll need a refurb and new brackets made up, this will still be alot cheaper than a brand new AP Racing kit.

The main reason I let go is force of habit really. I know it best to be in total control and I'll try to focus on not letting go but I'd rather control it by letting go than try to keep hold and struggle to get a quick enough reaction and thus spinning out and potentially spanking my car!
One things for sure you can go a fair bit quicker in the wet with tc switched off. Slightest rear end movement causes it to intervene and slow you down.

Nice! Just a tip, but try keeping at least one hand fixed on the steering wheel (two if you can) when you are applying opposite lock, you can then just give it a tiny smidge more to kick it straight again. It's not so good to let go of the wheel unless you are full on drifting which is clearly not what you were trying to do.

Glad you managed to find a size that worked.
If you ever have to do them again, lube em up with washing up liquid.

Couple laps from a very wet Bedford last monday. Old AD08Rs with 3.5mm tread made for a slippy experience!
