I don't think it either. It's down to poor service or treatment.. don't rev the nuts off it when it's cold and such things.. I'm the 5th owner of mine, picked it up with 40k miles, now its on 76k hard driven (by me at least) miles and not a single engine fault. Nothing done to the engine though. I think they are very reliable and I can't help myself but blame the owners for most faults. I see it all the time, people start their car and drive off immediately. Let it warm up first, change the oil often and the car will serve you right for years to come.

I just want to say a big thanks to @Lucas@PartBox for providing an extremely effiecent service on a recent order, including discount code and arranging delivery of the parts directly to me.
    Thank you very much.

Lucas reacted to Deacon in PFC.08 brake pads
Thought I'd add a little mini review of these pads as I've been blown away by there performance.
The PFC.08 pad are marketed as an endurance pad and are the pad used in the TMG Cup cars.
I've had them on my car now for about 1000 Road miles and 600 track miles. They were fitted at the same time as a new set of Stoptech Centric blank rear discs and National Auto grooved front discs. I run Ate type 200 brake fluid.
Cold bite - I was concerned that these pads would be a liability from cold but that has proved unfounded and in fact I have found them to give more cold bite than the Project Mu Hc800+ front and rear pads I ran previously.
Noise - the pads do occasionally squeal a little but nowhere near as bad as I had expected from the reviews I'd read on line. I would say the squeal is a little less than I got from the OEM pads and they do not squeal all the time.
Wear - I haven't taken them out to measure them since fitting but from a visual inspection the pads seem to be wearing very well (as would be expected from an endurance pad I guess). I'd been warned that they eat discs but so far the disc wear seems reasonable - there is no liping on the discs so far. The front discs do have some small heat expansion crazing but again, nothing overly unexpected for hard track use (picture below).

Stopping power - this is one of the areas these have really blown me away in. The stopping power is simply amazing. On my first trackday with them fitted I found I was braking far too early using the points I'd had to use with the previous HC800+ pads. The pads can easily exceed the tyre grip provided by the AD08RS's I currently run (again, thinking of their use on the 86 Cup cars running slicks, this makes sense).
Fade - I haven't experienced any fade with these pads on the four trackdays I've done so far, two of which were in 30+ degree temperatures at Bedord which has some quite high speed stops (two in quite quick succession after each other). I've been running maximum 30 minute sessions so whether fade would become more evident on longer sessions I couldn't say (for me, 30 minutes and I'm done!)
Overall, I've been so blown away by how well these perform that my plans for a BBK have now gone right to the bottom of the list. Recommended as an option for anyone who tracks and doesn't want the extra initial expense of a BBK or the potential hassle with altering brake bias by just going with a kit that fits rather than one matched to the car.

Brakes discs are smaller, yeah. Other than that it's mechanically same.

It's similar size to the 86, if not smaller. I'd be tempted to get one if I had the dollar, but the fact that it's auto is very discouraging. Speed aside, it takes away a fun factor for me.

If you have SC already and if you are driving hard at times, you could do with a slight upgrade. Stage 1 won't make it any worse on daily commute, but it will hold the power better.

I'd spend the money on better dampers to be honest rather than worry about the Edfc system. Better dampers with better valving, etc will be more beneficial in the long run.

I've been on the lookout for coilovers for a while, however with the steep drive I have, and countless potholes on local roads (my front bumper is already badly damaged from scraping) I couldn't sacrifice too much ride height for aesthetics.
I found a set of second hand HKS Hipermax IV SP going cheap (ish) from Club Japan Imports where the original customer had never paid the full amount to collect. I know these are the track orientated version, and there's not too much coverage of them from a UK perspective. I don't daily drive my car so comfort isn't too much of a consideration, but the 10kg spring rates do seem particularly high - hopefully the 30 stages of damping adjustment and progressive spring will help. They're widely considered as some of the best across the pond but we'll see once they're installed soon. For the price, I thought it was worth a punt instead of buying some cheaper, new ones.
Upon over night delivery, its clear they haven't done too many miles and seem in good condition - build quality looks excellent. The rear dust boots were cracked and I have patched these up as best I can, hopefully nothing to worry about.

Ever since reading @Lauren countless comments on this forum about how bad the standard wheels look I've always been on the look out for some new shoes. I spent ages trawling the internet, but I liked too many to make a choice, I knew I wanted 18s, and I knew I wanted something relatively lightweight, with racing pedigree (and preferably, not replicas). OZ, Rays, Wedsports etc. were all top of the list. And then it happened. A massive shout out to @Lucas@PartBox for sorting me out with a set of Rays Gramlights 57CR in this unbelievable colour. Complete with nut and lock set and centre caps. In 18x9.5J +38 I'm hoping I wont have too many clearance issues, but it's looking like lower control arms and toe arms might be needed.

In terms of tyres, I'm probably going to go for 255/35/18s (PS4s), unless anyone has any input on something better size-wise? Any opinion welcome. I'm ever so slightly concerned the thin sidewall may lead to cracking rims but this seems unlikely to me. I'm well aware this size wheel is going to be far too much traction for stock NA power, so I'm considering a set of Yoko V105s instead, but weighing up my options I'm not too bothered about sliding about round roundabouts. I've had my fun playing the Primacy lottery!
My thought process is relatively simple - stock -> suspension -> wheels & tyres -> brakes -> power. I like to see and feel the affects of the upgrades before moving on to the next (admittedly I'll be doing suspension and wheels one right after another though!) Plus, insurance is a killer. Hopefully when renewal comes along in two months some of the specialists will be able to help.
And that's all for now, folks! Thanks for reading.
