Dawn drive route from Macclesfield to the yonderman for breakfast
meeting 5am 16th July at RRG Macclesfield, Hibel Rd, Macclesfield SK10 2AB
     ttps://goo.gl/maps/ugQkVEGkBoq
Hi everyone I'm organising a dawn drive enjoying some of the best roads of Cheshire and Derbyshire before the rest of the world wakes up and then enjoying a club breakfast.
The plan is for all taking part to be at the start ready to go as the sun comes up.  So from the moment the first trace of pink in the sky shows we are go.
At this time of morning there should be time for a stop for club photos if people want to.
Number of cars will determine what sort of route and how many groups there are so that we can run a good pace without lights and junctions breaking up the flow
The event will take place early June. Meeting point will be Macclesfield.  Once the final route is confirmed I will post a link to Google maps with the full drive planned.
Surgestion for breakfast location are useful please. Need to open around 9am and serve a proper breakfast.
The date will be fixed by this evening.

So, guess it's time to start one of these since the modding is ramping up a little
Bought my BRZ back in March a month after I passed my driving test. Don't regret it one bit haha. The car is my daily (16,000 miles and counting), but I'm keen to get out on track more often so there'll be a few additions aimed at such....with some bling of course!
Modding started with the CGR Exhaust, but I guess it'll be a slippery slope from now on .

    Current mods are:
    Tuning Developments UEL
    Öhlins R&T Coilovers (Mi20)
Xtrons Headunit (Can't remember the model number )
    Tom's Rear lights
    MTEC Shift Springs
    Powerflex Gearbox and Subframe bushings
    Alcantara dash panels
    Anarchy Motive gear stick

    On the way:

    To do:
    SPL Lower control arms
    Valenti lower light
    Gauge cover and handbrake retrim
    Front bumper respray and PPF

    Future purchases/wishlist  :
    BBK
    Oil cooler
    Valenti sidemarkers
    KM4sh Ducktail/SARD LSR Carbon wing
    Agency Power Carbon front lip
    Rexspeed Carbon sideskirts
Tuning Developments Turbo Kit (Probably unlikely due to insurance )

Thanks for reading my build thread so far, more to come

    Hi all.
Sorry I never got the Christmas meet fully organised.  Christmasy commitments kept getting in the way.
As such I think we need another meet and or drive soon.
How does the second sunday in March sound to everyone?
I currently like the idea of breakfast and a drive. Home by 1pm latest.

Prior to my BRZ I only had a 53 plate Skoda Octavia, it was a tank though.  Over 200,000 miles on it when I traded it in, needed minimal maintenance and nothing beyond consumables ever needed looking at.

Before the 86 what did you have? My brothers was:

    Skoda Felicia
    Suzuki Swift Sport
    Toyota GT86

Not many cars but each one taught him a lot. Mine so far are:
    Mk3 Astra 1.4
    Mk1 Fabia vRS
    Mk2 Fabia vRS
    BMW Z4M
Mk2 Skoda Octavia - Shark tuned to Stage 2+ at 282bhp

Currently contemplating changing the Octavia of an 86 but thought it would be interesting to know where others have come from to get to an 86.

Well time for an update! I've been on the @Tuned UK eibach lowering springs for about a month now and really liking the change in feel of the car.  It's definitely flatter on corners and the ride quality is well within my limits.  It's my first project and Richard at at Tuned has been really understanding and helpful with my questions regarding the suspension set up.  Currently its still very neutral but in the near future I'll be putting some camber bolts on the front and tweaking the rears as well.  Ride height wise, the 40mm drop did worry me a bit at first but I'm yet to scrape it which has surprised me a lot.
Build and mod wise, I've changed the wheels (don't hate me @Lauren) to some 18x8.5 Rota Grid Drifts in gold from @Mike@TD.co.uk I love the look of the wheels now.  There is a slight lateral arch gap for the rear wheels, and I did briefly consider some spacers but it honestly doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it.
What's in the future? Firstly I want to get some track and drift days under my belt.  I've done a bit of research but got a lot of questions so going to put up a thread asking for a bit of advice, work also means its hard for me to commit to things more than 4 to 6 weeks away, but I'm hoping to just go along to some localish track days that aren't full on my days off and put up a thread on here to see if anyone is free to join.
Mods wise I have a few plans for this year.
ICE: I need to change the head unit, its awful in the BRZ and starting to grate on my nerves now.
Cosmetics: Rear spoiler and possible reverse light.  I've been on the look out for a decent rear spoile or a carbon boot with the right kind of ducktail but yet to find one unpainted for a reasonable price or one that is in stock.  Also, considering some cosmetic changes in the cabin to get rid of the plain silver plastic that is around.
Engine: By the years end I plan on either going forced induction or an NA tune with an UEL header, but I'm no longer in a rush to do this.
Exhaust: Hope to get a better sounding exhaust sorted soon, but I'm waiting for a few meets to come up so I can hear other peoples and work out what I want.

Also an open face is far more comfortable and you can talk. Only drawback is it's no good if you want to go in a car with no roof. I must admit, I've already got both variants, but I far prefer the open face as it means you can drink etc whilst you are waiting to go out and passengers can hear you.
    Mine was £215 I think.
Also get a car one, as it will have the FR (fire retardant) status. The more you pay, the lighter it will be. One head and all that, so get the best you can afford.

Couple of things the nay-sayers perhaps aren't considering.
The Cusco (or similar) solution is around £40, this is around double that, which ok, is a big difference, but it's still only £40 more. This solution, however, takes 5 minutes to fit (literally 4 wires), and can be adjusted in 1 second. The leveller bar takes probably 30 minutes to fit if you have the right tools and equipment, and have no issues removing bolts etc. It then probably takes at least 10 minutes to adjust, should you need to.
For me and I imagine a few others, this solution would be perfect, as I like to fiddle with suspension setups a fair bit, mostly due to the variety of roads I drive around (I take my car to steelworks and power plants a lot for example). Having the ability to adjust the headlights with the press of a button is easily worth £40 for me, for those reasons among others.
Of course, if the dealer can do it for free or cheap via ODB, then that's maybe a reason not to spend £80 on this, but again, that's still massively inconvenient for lots of people.

    Hi Everyone
I recently came across a website which contains several tutorial explaining the fundamentals track driving. There are 20 tutorial's which explain the basic's of cornering, braking, vision, grip limit, etc and a couple of other guides. Having done the CAT Driver training a couple of years ago this was a good recap for me, and will hopefully help everyone else. The tutorial's are definitely worth a read.
There is also a video for each tutorial, however not all of these worked for me.
    Driver's University: All Tutorial's
If you CBA to read all the tutorial's but are new to track days, I'd definitely recommend you have a read of their guide.
Track Day Guide: The definitive guide to track days

Here's one of their video's on how to drift a road car, in an 86 no less.
    Thanks for looking

You'd need cams to get the most out of them as it lends itself to higher RPM, our stock cams don't. Based on my knowledge of K/B series engines, you could get similar peak power aa low boost applications, but obviously without the torque. The FA20 would need more work than those though.
    They do sound bloody awesome.
