Neil-h 29 Report post Posted August 30, 2019 Hi all, I know this is a bit of a how longs a piece of string question but it'd be useful to have some (even vague) indication, what sort of price increases have people seen on their insurance when going turbod/supercharged? GravelRash 62 Report post Posted August 30, 2019 Hi, IIRC going to FI from remapped NA cost no more than £50 for myself at renewal time. I was shocked at how little it actually added to my insurance. 16,000 miles, 10,000 of them business, fully comp, protected NCB, driveway parked, all mods declared, about £750 a year or so. Rob_86 19 Report post Posted August 30, 2019 My renwel actually went down some how, had all mods declared. £450 fully completed 30 years old and 8 years NCB. 1 Burtie178 reacted to this

That is confusing, because they (Adrian Flux) quoted me over £2k. My car is totally stock, 2013. I am female, 52, 10 years NCB, no tickets, drive less than 7k miles per year (social use only), and park in a locked private car park. I almost fell out of my chair! Specialist modified car insurance. The more mods you put on the cheaper it gets! At least that's what it was for me. They explained it that in theory the more modifications you do, the more likely you are to look after your car and hopefully not crash it.
Church 209 Report post Posted September 2, 2019 Funny theory. And as they are not into this business for charity/to loose money .. such statistics might actually be true, interesting.
VAD17 479 Report post Posted September 2, 2019 Hmm... more mods cheaper car insurance? I guess this may also depends on whether you increase declared value if the car any by how much.I will be looking for renewal quote in about a month time as well. Would be interested in a policy with additional track days cover (Greenlight does not insure in my area).Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

I guess this may also depends on whether you increase declared value if the car any by how much. Mods don't tend to add value to the car, unless you're going for agreed value to cover a potential write off there is no benefit to upping the value. Insurers like Flux tend to specialize in modified car policies/insurers and less on standard cars so they are less competitive on stock cars. 4 hours ago, VAD17 said: Would be interested in a policy with additional track days cover (Greenlight does not insure in my area). I've yet to find one, Greenlight have never been willing to quote me.

Twigman 93 Report post Posted September 13, 2019 3 minutes ago, Kaisersalsek said: Because I’m putting about £6,000 worth of parts on it? That doesn't necessarily increase the value of your car. Your car's value is determined by what someone would be prepared to pay for it. Most avoid modified cars like the plague - generally modified cars sell for less than unmodified cars. Twigman 93 Report post Posted September 13, 2019 1 minute ago, Kaisersalsek said: I’m glad you understand the ins and outs of my policy My comment has absolutely nothing to do with 'your policy'. Your 'agreed value' may or may not be a reflection of the true value of your car - adding £6k parts though doesn't necessarily increase the value of your car 1p. Twigman 93 Report post Posted September 13, 2019 Just now, Kaisersalsek said: It does - you’re making presumptions about what my policy terms are. I’m not adding 6k. /end. I never said you were. You said you were 'increasing the value of your car' - I'd say adding £6k of parts is more likely to decrease the value of your car. The presumption that spending money on bits increases the value of your car is frankly false.

Ta Neil So my 3 year old stock GT86 was £200 to insure for a year. When I added all the mods it when up to ~£300 Interestingly I added all the mods before adding the SC, so I added suspension, brakes, exhaust and engine changes. When I phoned up to add the SC it reduced the cost by about £30! The lady on the phone put me on hold to talk to her manager as she thought it was a bit odd too! So I got a refund 🤣
