    Thanks for highlighting this problem.
Just cleaned mine out. Slight signs of rusting but nothing for concern.
Treated the metal parts with ACF 50 to stop any more.

Don't know if any one else has spotted this issue but a poor design in the metal plate where rubber weather strip sits holds water and rusts the metal work. This picture isn't my car but damage looks very similar. I've taken my car back to Toyota to claim on warranty. Awaiting verdict will let you know the outcome.

Mine are set at 15-20mm lower than standard if that helps.

I've never understood these "oh I've got a 2mm chip in the paint, I'll cover it with a giant bit of leather so you can't see it." Madness.

Yep. Read up well before you do it. I did mine with zero experience and as long as you choose products that are not too abrasive then you can't go wrong.

I'm not saying you can't, obviously you can. You could learn with a rotary on your own car, but for the sake of £10 you could experiment with all manner of pads and liquids, you could even wet sand it. All the while building confidence and knowledge.

I soak some kitchen towel in hot water and put it on the poo for a few minutes. Softens it right up and then seems fairly easy to remove without damage.

With the lowering springs I can feel it being a bit more 'solid' on the turns - that was ust the fronts, the rear brace only went on this week but again it does feel a little better.. maybe a placebo but it seems to have had an affect.

I find them a good sound - but 50% deaf in one ear anyway lol. If I upgrade the HU then they should be pretty good for everyday use.
My mate who is a bit of an audiophile said they sounded good enough to him when he had a test drive at the weekend.

You need to drive both in road and track conditions, I have done this and decided to go back to 4.67 on my car as I like the balance of torque and urgency that it gives. And as I do limited motorway work it was my choice, horses for courses they say.

New graph! This one has a comparison of 0.25s shifts vs 1s shifts. Also it's using dyno numbers from my car. Nothing too surprising, the main thing is that shifts costs you way more than a FFD saves, so if you're introducing a shift, it's going to be worse than otherwise. This tends to favour longer ratios as you have to shift less often.
So for instance 50-80 is much quicker with a 4.1 FD as you can hit 80 in 3rd; with the other options you have to upshift in the 70s.
30-60 is interesting as there's a shift for all FDs (except 5.1) but it shows the advantage of staying in lower gear longer.

Use then hard, I found that after a track day or some real abuse on the back roads, they quieten down for a few weeks. I also found they'd go quiet a bit after washing the car.

Okay had a quick look, it's pretty obvious. On the driver's side at the rear of the top cam cover end plate it's dead easy to spot just from looking over from the driver's side wing.

It's a good article. I think some people get addicted to modifying and buy shit for the sake of it, rather than it being any improvement. Catch myself nearly doing it quite often, it's very tempting with such a big aftermarket parts availability for the 86'.
