Keethos got a reaction from Lowe in Keethos' GT86 Journey Back To Health + Mods
An update from my post:
As I mentioned previously, a couple of days after having a John Ashley custom silencer installed, the volume went from really quiet to really loud again (not as loud as it was before the silencer) and I was worried that either there was a weld issue or maybe the wadding inside the silencer had been burnt out. Not only that but the rattling/raspy sound was worse than ever.
So about a week later, I booked my car in again to see what the issue is while changing the back box completely from a Cobra system to a custom made Y shape system which would hopefully improve flow and hopefully remove any raspiness. Found out that the silencer was perfectly fine, what had happened was one of the bolts holding the mid pipe to the back box had fallen out and the exhaust was blowing the gasket out so I kept the silencer as is.
After several hours of work, the lads at John Ashley Exhausts finished my custom Y shape back box so now I'm essentially running a custom John Ashley catback exhaust system and I've got to say, the volume is about spot on. It's louder than when the silencer was fitted and still quieter than it was before....even had a sound meter to test it while I was there and was getting about 88dbs but the proof of the pudding was on track a couple of Fridays ago at Oulton Park where as you can hear from the video, I only got 83dbs....then again I was only doing 5000rpm rather than the usual 5500rpm but there or there abouts anyways so very happy with the result. Even managed to re-use the black outverted tips which I like.
The only slight gripe at the moment is the original gripe of that raspy sound, the car, when cold, would sound a bit raspy/rattly around 4000rpm part load but once it's hot, it doesn't rasp or rattle as much or at all sometimes so I'm just hoping that once they get carboned up that they'll reduce or even stop completely but again, still pretty happy with how they've turned out!
So now I'm running the Tuning Developments Unequal Length Decat Manifold with their Overpipe, Berk High Flow Cat followed by John Ashley's Custom Silenced Y Shape Catback Exhaust System with Cobra's Black Outverted Exhaust Tips

Thanks, I said to myself I wouldn't mod this car but less than 2 weeks later I have ordered my first few mods, thanks gt86.org.uk users and their build threads.
Nothing too drastic planned just some cosmetic pieces to start with and then a catback exhaust is definitely a must, maybe some other wheels at some point but I really do like these stock ones in design and colour. Will attend some meets or shows in the future, would be rude not too.
Just nice to drive a car that isn't scared to go over speed humps!

Cheers Keith.
Definitely would be good to catch up!
I haven't really thought past this point to be honest. A new set of wheels would be nice but I think I'll focus on some smaller aesthetic bits for the next few months. I think I'll look to get the roof wrapped black next, and perhaps a few more carbon bits for the interior! Would like a different spoiler too but still not decided what I want to go for.

Congrat and welcome to the club! Any plans for the car at all? FYI....there are massive spaces between each paragraph in your post

Thanks very much! Well in an ideal world some Work Meister S1s, AP Racing BBK and Ohlin suspension but that is all a little pricey! Some new tyres (Pilot Sport 4) and some new pads just to give me something enjoyable on track.
Haha thanks, yeah i don't know why it did that but I think I have sorted it now

That saves me asking why I woke up to condensation in the rears yesterday!
Thanks

So yeah brakes held up decently well today, was also very impressed by the PS4 tyres on the rear.
Here's a video of the only no traffic lap I got in my 2 sessions. Shame I squandered it with shit driving

Keethos reacted to Mike in Phone ban - watch out...
People are paying attention to it more because for a chunk of drivers, it means losing their license - it's like how a lot of people will happily speed because 3 points isn't a lot but will keep it under 100mph to avoid an instant ban.
Because of the potential for a lot of people to lose their license, people are now pointing out the stupid scenarios it applies to... for example...
Note: The law applies, but enforced? Very unlikely...

The oem pad smearing was visible on my discs yeah.
I removed my front oem pads at 22k, expecting them to have loads left after reading here - and was surprised to find they were quite thin! If I'd have done another trackday on them it would have been an early finish to the day.

Keethos reacted to DanJ in Dan J's BRZ
It's seemed like an eternity (probably because it has been!) but I should have the BRZ back in a week. It finally went on the jig earlier this week, it was 5mm out at the front wishbone pickup, not much but enough to warrant sorting it properly.
Got a set of Toms tail lights winging their way over from Japan, the first cosmetic only mod but a worthy one to start with I think

Keethos reacted to Jordz in Exhaust Systems!
Hey guys!
I just thought I'd make a new little discussion about the exhaust I've recently had fitted to my 86!
It's completely changed the driving experience of the car!
I'll be making another, better video in the future with more angles & better camera equipment once the exhaust has properly bedded in.
It's actually louder now than when it was first installed, as the carbon has built up a bit.
Enjoy this video for now, plenty more videos to come to my channel

Keethos reacted to BristolLee in Hello! I've finally put my money where my mouth is!
Avonmouth is Portbury Docks, just me being a local boy calling it by its place name rather than the dock name.
Update 4: The ship arrived on Thursday afternoon, 1600 at high tide and sailed out again 12 hours later.
So I can't stalk it anymore, just have to wait impatiently until either Fish Bros call me to choose a reg number and arrange collection OR I get bored and call them to see how it's going.

Keethos reacted to Stutopia in BRZ New Jack
Hello!
I've been lurking on AutoTrader for months waiting for an in budget, relatively nearby, BRZ to take for a drive and finally one popped up last week. This morning I went and picked it up and have spent most of today enjoying what it feels like to shed 300kg overnight. I can confirm, it feels good to drop a belt loop or two, even if it's a bit unfamiliar at first. The 300kg I'm on about is the drop from my beloved 350Z, which the BRZ replaces (will replace when it sells), which I've looked after for the last 4 years (build thread here if you fancy having a look at that sort of thing. I hope it's ok to post a photo of it mods?
But enough of the past, onto the present. My new love is a 2013 SE LUX in, frankly perfect, WR Mica Blue. It has 38k on the clock, a couple of former owners and is totally OEM - so far as I can tell. The colour lured me to the BRZ, over the GT86, and I'm very pleased with the state of the paint, it looks superb in the sunlight and aside from a a couple of small door dings I'll need to sort, it seems spotless. I can already see this is going to be a car you need to look back at after you've parked up and wandered off.
I spent much time and money modding the Zed and I'm hoping that aside from a few minor adjustments (headunit, exhaust, brakes) I'll keep the BRZ pretty stock. It's a very nice place to be sat and it feels more nimble than I'm used to, so it's already well on it's way. That said, I do have some questions if you don't mind.
- The headunit in the BRZ is a bit of a disappointment and I miss the reverse camera from my Zed, is it easy enough to replace the HU and wire in a camera?
- The brakes don't have the same bite as the ones I am used to (DBA T2 discs, DS2500 pads, SS lines), can anyone recommend a good fast road, street legal, pad I might upgrade to?
- I've noticed condensation in the passenger side light:
- Is this at all common and/or a cheap & easy fix?
Thanks for reading and I look forward to trying to make a contribution to the place. I'm off for a browse and then I suppose I should read the owners manual too

Another little addition, will try to get it fitted at some point.

Keethos reacted to Cerastes in Cerastes - Daily Driver
Hi all,
I thought I would start a build thread for my daily drive; I can update it as and when I add stuff and hopefully everyone can offer some advice on what to do and not to do Please bare in mind this is my daily car so nothing ridiculous. Although maybe a turbo one day, but that is a long way ahead
I bought the car in October with already a few modifications already done.
TRD spoiler
Shark fin antenna
Valenti brake lights
Reversing camera
OEM mud guards
OEM armrest
And recently discovered it already had a remap .
It also has the full leather heated seats.
Some pics of the car as I bought it just after a clean.
I have had to re-attach the shark fin antenna with 3M tape as the back of it was coming off.
So far just a few little mods
Intec 3rd brake light. Aluminium Reverse lockout (pic below) Leather cluster hood cover (pic below but difficult to see). Heated seat buttons plate cover; had to file them down as they didn't quite fit.
Recently added some TRD aero wings
Looking at few other changes to be made, particularly the exhaust.

I think they call that ring sting..... Or is that something else? 🤔
