Lauren got a reaction from Test Drives Unlimited in GR Yaris who's going for it?
I received a notification on Friday night telling me my car is being built!
I'm just a little bit excited.
In other news, got an email from RRG telling me they will have a demo car in for the beginning of November, so I will be first behind the wheel. I really hope it's as good as it looks!

If you're dropping your car off for them to look at it, I would expect to get a courtesy car. Worth an ask.

There is some range of tire widths that can fit of specific wheel width.
For example, consider this chart, minimum, optimum, maximum, they all are "safe" to fit.
Going too wide tires for wheel width will add too much extra flex to sidewalls, handling will suffer, not worth doing unless one is fixated on fitting absolutely widest tires one can for whatever reasons. Going too (hella-)stretched also not advisable, as it will make harder to fit tires w/o hacks, provides only arguable looks for stance crowd, and one will increase risks of tire debeading from wheels, big no-no on track. Then there is common preference of many that track their cars, eg. to tend to fit tires with slight stretch, that is still reasonable, yet extra removes some slop from sidewall flex, sharpening up steering (at slight loss of comfort/compliance).
And in this case is i guess tire shop worker generic subjective beliefs of what width goes well and what doesn't.

    Thanks both for the replies.
I had read online the above and just waited to confirm thats correct.
Looking forward to GT86 ownership having owned, enjoyed and modified many MR2 mk3 over the past few years

The TRD is a stock car from the factory that has the TRD parts added at the port of entry (Portbury Docks), so they are standard ride height and effectively no different in terms of a standard car. There were supposed to be a run of 250 cars for the UK, but the very high purchase price of £32K at the time meant they did not sell well. We think there were around 166 or so sold in the UK. As to how many of each colour, I do not know the answer to that, though they were sold in black, red and white. White was most popular, then black, then red.

That's just covering all the variables that are current. I had a GT86 hire car in Japan with the 16's and smaller brakes. 17x7 is for stock and 17 x7.5 is PP.

Lauren got a reaction from DuncanM in Reliability putting me off the 86.
I really wouldnt be put off by those issues. Providing you buy a car that has been properly maintained, about the only issue you are going to experience really is the coil pack one. I would not count that as a major issue. You will rarely even notice a coil pack going apart from the EML coming on. They cost £87 for a new one and if you've still got warranty that shouldn't be a problem to get it replaced.
I have done 119K miles in five and a half years. I stick to the service schedule, I am never late with this. I have gone through all four coil packs in that time. I had a slight oil leak on the cam plate fixed under warranty at around 60K miles. I've had a CV joint go and replaced under warranty, though that is probably caused by lowering.
My under bonnet strip is rusty, but I don't really care about that. Cheap to replace anyway.
Engine failures are rare and as everyone else has said, relate more to cars with forced induction which is always going to be a lottery on a car that was designed to be NA. Also there are a lot of numpties out there who dont get their cars serviced on time, don't use OEM oil and don't let their car warm up properly before booting it. My experience of having one of the highest mileage cars in the UK that has included four years of sprinting, track days from when it was run in and a tuned engine with remap, manifold and all that, is that they are hardy cars indeed, providing you look after them. I would still think nothing of driving to Italy to mine with the mileage it has, which I have done twice already. Last year I drove right out to the Harz region of Germany at high speed in places on the autobahn. No problem. I use my car every day, it has never let me down.

I run the same AP brake setup. No humming, no squishy pedal. I've had them on for 50K miles/3 years now. I'm sprinting at Croft tomorrow.

Or you could just learn to heel and toe. It's really easy on the GT. That's the thing for me, I'm not interested in the auto blip, flat shifting or launch control. I can drive the car okay myself having spent years learning driving techniques.

So I figured I’d do a little update on this given I’ve just collected the car from its first MOT after fitting the supercharger and it’s good news. It flew threw without a problem, even the emissions were well below the required level (which is impressive given its only got the main cat). A real credit to @Mark@Abbey M/S and his mapping skills.

I bought some LED tinted side repeaters as I've never been a massive fan of how the OEM ones stand out against the black. These are much subtler.

Donington it is. I’ve never been to Silverstone so may try the GP circuit one day, I know Donington in a Ginetta and an MX5 and loved it. Craners may be a little slippy in December though!

It is with very sad news that I have to announce that Jordan Wade has lost his battle with depression. To many he was the cheeky and often controversial face of the club and whilst I always saw him as a good friend and a true petrolhead that loved nothing more than to while the night away talking cars with a pint in hand. Those were the good times.
However, he had a true passion for all things automotive for which he lived and breathed. A kindred spirit I always thought if ever there was. That is what I'll miss Jordan for. I have spoken to Jordan in the past about his depression and I really hoped that things were getting better, but that wasn't the case and there is nothing I or anyone it seems could do.
I am not sure what we will do from here as I would have been at the funeral, but I seriously doubt current circumstances will allow. I am meeting with Richard to have a discussion about it, but feel that if we can't be there we should perhaps organise something else and Jordan would have liked a good amount of GT86 presence. So I will have a think about that and welcome any ideas.
I have spoken with Jordan's girlfriend, Michelle and she is understandably devastated and confused by the whole turn of events. I have let her know that we are there to support her and we will.
I am just so terribly sorry to have to tell you all about losing one of our best and I think most loved members of the club.
Apologies for not making a very well written post, I am just so sad and I can't think straight.

I would second what @VAD17 said. Silverstone National is 5 corners and a mile long. I've raced on it which is very entertaining, but as a track day, it's pretty boring. Hard to find a duller circuit with the exception of Llandow.  I would look elsewhere. Donny either configuration. Cadwell is epic too. Mallory Park if you want a short circuit that is far more interesting than Silverstone National.
Of the two definitely go Donington National.

Just saw it on Facebook so had to log on here. Jordan was the life of the party at GT86 events, to think he was battling depression this whole time is startling, but I suppose like so many he got very good at hiding it. Funnily enough the entire time I had my ‘86 Jordan’s was never working, it blew up October 2015, I bought mine in December and sold it last year. Weird to think I’ll never see him driving it when it’s finally completed. I know life had been tough this past year, losing his job through coronavirus and the car having more issues but I just couldn’t imagine anything like this. I cannot imagine how Michelle must be feeling, thank you @Lauren for reaching out to her.
