Just bought a 97 Orange Edition. Only 86 registered in UK and we found 3 available to choose between.
Initial impression is that car feels very close in character to a previous Honda Integra Type R (DC2) that we had for 8 years; despite the obvious difference of driven wheels.
Just what we wanted after a number of increasingly fast and powerful hot hatches that have become almost irrelevant as road cars due to their capabilities.
Decided on a set of winters as we live beyond the range of the gritters: found some pre facelift wheels & Nexen Winguard Sport 2 tyres.

I got some enjoyment out of the movie, and the theatre was loud enough to really give you the howling madness of being inside a GT40, but rather like Days of Thunder it suffers from rev and gearchange-itis. The sound and cutting room guys managed to arrange more than one full-throttle before the apex. I did enjoy the dead-eye rivalry between drivers, and I liked the portayal of car development, but the overall quality of the movie was mixed in my view. A grudging 7?

I went and saw it this evening. Without giving anything away, I will say that I am surprised it got an 8 on IMDB. I would give it a 6. But that's just my opinioin. Christian Bale was his usual wonderful self. He's a great actor, and his performance was not a let-down. Matt Damon? Eh. I didn't feel a lot from his character. I've seen several interviews with Carroll Shelby, and he strikes me as a spitfire. I don't really think Matt Damon captured that. But hey, I'm no expert or movie critic. Overall, it's not a bad movie, and seeing the up-close racing shots on the big screen is cool, but if you want to buddy up with Lauren and watch it on Netflix, I don't blame you.

I don't know if it's getting stricter next year, but currently I believe the mot rules say it can fail if the car is noisier than a similar car with stock exhaust.
A quick hunt on Google says this came in around 2010ish and people often get advisaries but not been able to find anyone failing with it.
Use a garage that understands performance cars.
"yes sir, this car is a sports car, a similar car car with stock exhaust you say? Well this Pagani is also a sports car, let's compare exhaust volume"

I might look at that.  I quite like space savers though because if I have a full size spare then I don't get around to getting it fixed, whereas if I have an ugly speed restricted space saver on the car it prompts me to sort it!!

    Hi All,
After drooling after them for years, took the plunge on a rather nice 2013 GT86!
Now onto a question, of course :) I want to get a space saver wheel for it, but not sure of the dimensions / tyre size to get.  Would https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135-70-R16-Bridgestone-Subaru-5x100-Spacesaver-100M/123817698352?hash=item1cd41c2430:g:ASMAAOSw-hVdFb7e  be likely to fit?  I think its correct bolt spacing, but not sure on brake clearance, diameter etc...

An IMDB rating of 8.0 is pretty good. I'll wait for it to appear on Netflix.

I think it will be interesting to see how Hollywood handles the story.
I'm planning on going Friday evening, to the Greenwich O2 Cineworld. I'm going to see it in 4DX, which seems like a really cool option, with moving seats and such. Movie-going has come a long way! If anyone wants to come along, let me know.

I've got a StopLock steering wheel lock which I used for a while but have given up using it primarily because, when it's not being used, it rattles so loudly I can hear it even when it's in the boot.

If you have an ECUTeK map, you can have one of the modes programmed as an immobiliser, meaning that the car cannot be started even with the fob unless you know how to get it out of that mode.  I found it gave extra peace of mind when I parked at the airport long term car park for a few days.

It's not anything like a full engine rebuild, in fact it's nothing of the kind. They don't even remove the heads to replace the valves. Sure the cam covers come off and the cams have to come out, but that is all really. Due to the laws of probability nothing generally is 100% successful. But what is important here is not to spread over hyped scare stories when a lot of us have had the valve spring recall done with no problems at all. I would not be put off buying a car second hand if it had the valve spring recall. All I would do is make sure it's done a bit of mileage afterwards. Any failures and there have been very few in the UK will have resulted in the first 50 miles post recall.
Also it's worth remembering that if the OP bought a car that has just had the recall done, then it will have a warranty for a year on the engine.

I have a steering lock on mine as it's another added security measure that any potential thief has to get past. We have had a few car thefts around the local area and most of the comments are "I wish I had brought a steering wheel lock". Anything I can do or add to the car to make somebody think twice about stealing it then I will but ultimately it is down to personal choice.

    Hi Guys
I looking to purchase my 1st GT86. Call it a midlife crisis if you want but since i started to look for a sporty number i havent looked at anything else since i saw and test drive a GT86
I am interested in peoples advice
I am looking for a £10K to £12K budget and as long as there is a full service history i am not too concerned with the mileage - unless I advised differently. But my wife is pretty insistent that we dont have another red car LOL
    Thanks for any help

The sound is quite unique. It's a combination of the high revving four cilinder boxer engine and the exhaust system.
Regarding the sixth gear, I think it's mainly there to reduce fuel consumption at constant speed, as well as getting a better environmental rating.
