Yes - all perfectly legitimate maintenance... I admire your refusal to compromise and commitment to stock specification.

You may notice though (I did) that the stock suspension undoubtedly deteriorates over time, and it's only prudent to invest in quality replacement parts...

The engine map it came with can also usefully be - ahem - 'maintained' upwards.

On mine I noticed Toyota had only remembered to paint part of the wheels black and they also weren't quite filling the arches. Again - easily remedied.

Carry on enjoying your stock car. I can see why you went for the BRZ. Stoyota just doesn't have the same ring does it?

Before and after cheapo light mod. Happy with that - looks great from ten paces anyway. Will do nicely for now anyway and loses the far too chromey rear end...

The lights came from Amber Performance - took a while to get them since they had to come as a special order from Japan but very pleased I waited for them. The wheels wer just  a set off ebay but I think they look great on the car

Yes I agree best lights but they are pricey and not easy to get hold off in the red but well worth it

Nicebiscuit reacted to MeisterR in Trophy Finish for MeisterR at first National Auto-Solo Event
So the past weekend we attended our first National Auto-Solo event.
The 2017 Tire Rack College Station Championship Tour, and it was certainly an experience.
    https://www.scca.com/articles/2005718-2017-tire-rack-college-station-championship-tour-event-recap
Our team went into the competition feeling pretty confident, until we went to the grid and check out the competition's cars.
The top runners are using the Honda S2000 Club Racer edition, that is a limited run of 699 cars designed with aero package and soft top removed to reduce weight.
Only the CR are allow to run without the soft top, as the class rules state what came on the car in factory trim must stay; and looking at their engine bay you can see how well their cars were prepared.
Most are using the PasswordJDM carbon fibre intake, and a few cars was running Moton Clubsport 2-way adjustable coilovers; that is only what you can see.
In contrasts, we have a pretty standard 2007 Honda S2000 with 90,000 miles on the clock.
The only mods were a K&N intake, Invidia exhaust, Eibach front anti-roll bar, and MeisterR ZetaCRD coilovers in our prototype race specification.
Even our ECU was standard and unmapped... so you can imagine how our confidence drop "slightly " after seeing what we were up against.
Most were using the same tyres, the new BFGoodridge Rival S... so that mean we were on even ground at least on that part.
But never mind, this is our 1st national event so it was just to see where we sit outside of the Houston region.
The STR Class we are competing in have a total of 17 drivers, many are experienced veteran at national event.
Our driver is 21 years old Landon Thompson (who is getting a lot of stick up and down the grid because of his age), but it was all good fun.
Overall, the competition was great and environment was friendly; but you know it is a competition and people are serious and there to win when you speak with a few.
So at the end of the two day race, we end up just edging out for a 3rd place trophy finish out of 17 drivers.
Considering how under prepared our car was and it’s our first national attempt, we were all very happy about the result.

So that is it from MeisterR's team and our first national event, we came home with a blue cap (trophy winner) and a big meal at the end of the day.
We will continue to improve the car to bring it to a more competitive trim, and can only hope or better result in the next event.
It was a great weekend, just want to share our excitement and our result.

You're the second one to do the green/Orange thing. To be honest I thought it was a terrible idea until I saw it in the metal and I had to admit it looked pretty good...

I have the bilstein b14's also. They are more civilized than the stock ones, although ride comfort is not outstanding. What I like about them is their ability to handle every imperfection in the road.Turning in feels sharper also.

This is the new Toyota satnav. Set into a simple one piece alcantara covered panel running right across the dash. They've really nailed it this time.

I guess you can search Autotrader as well as the rest of us ;-). Seem to be plenty of sub-40k '62 platers around the £13.5k mark, but I guess condition varies. But even that would leave a little haggle room I would think.
    Good luck with your hunt!

Got a poke around the RRG demonstrator this morning...

I'm not a change my car every couple of years kind of person, but anyone who is will find enough improvements to be glad of the swap.

The interior is the big thing. Really much much better in terms of perceived quality.

As for the rest, the wheels look better than the old ones when you see them in the metal, the back end is tidied up a treat, and the front is probably marginally better too in real life. The bumper is fine, and the headlights are neater.

    A successful facelift.

Yep, essentially wastegates stop you feeding too much boost, but when you have direct electronic control of the drive transmitted, I guess you can just stall the shaft?

And yes, these are far more likely to be eventually available to us than direct-drive KERS.

Should have bought a new one to take full advantage of the Toyota 5 year warranty, then the sales person could sell you "tyre insurance" to go with alloy/smart/paint/gap/breakdown/payment/dragon/volcano insurance options that triple the monthly PCP payment when doing 3,000 miles a year.

Me too - I think if I didn't need the back seats I'd have bought an MX5. Great little cars. Never seen the point of the complicated metal roofed ones though. Simple car needs a simple roof. Newest ones really capture the spirit of the early cars for me...
