JamesP1991 got a reaction from TomG94 in 2013 Toyota GT86 Turbo 43k Miles For Sale
After building and enjoying this car for over 2 years, I never thought I would see it again. Having part exchanged it 2 years previous, it has found it's way back to the dealership I now work at. Given the happy memories I have had with the Drivers Club, I thought I would advertise the car here and give the opportunity to pass the car on to a member that I know will love it just as much as I did.
It is a 2013 model, cloth interior with parking sensors, navigation and cruise control. It has covered 43,000 miles. The car is an ex demo with 3 owners in total (2 private including me and the original was Toyota themselves). I bought the car back in 2014 as a totally standard example and then spent the following 9 months enjoying it in standard form. For the next 18 months or so I went about modifying it tastefully and that is how it sits today. The previous owner after me has simply used it as a commuting car and did not modify it further.
The service history is as follows:
11/02/2014 - 1st Service Inchcape Toyota Oxford  06/06/2015 - 2nd Service - Lancaster Colchester Toyota  31/07/2015 - Serviced by me when the turbo conversion was installed. This was with Millers Nanodrive OW-20 oil and a Blitz oil filter.  20/09/2016 - 4th Service carried out by Fensport including new brake fluid, gearbox oil change and an hours mapping time with Adrian to ensure the car was still behaving as it should.  It is now due another service which will be carried out with Millers Nanodrive once again and matching Blitz oil filter along with pollen and cabin filters. It will also have a fresh 12 months MOT before it leaves our ownership.
    Modifications are as follows:
Full Speed By Design turbo kit, compromising of a Mitsubishi 20g billet turbo, and EL manifold.  ACT 6 puck racing clutch.  TEIN 25mm springs - stock shocks.  Brand new Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 tyres all round. 215/45/17 Japan Racing JR3 wheels in Gunmetal Grey. 17x7.  Beatrush Master Cylinder Stopper.  Front Strut Brace Invidia N1 exhaust titanium tipped.  Custom made IWS Developments overpipe and catless midpipe 2.5" diameter. Full Samco Hose kit  Whiteline Gearbox insert
The car was mapped at TDI in Thurrock where it made 263.5hp at the hubs at just over 7psi. I paid special attention to how the car was mapped to avoid rod bending low down torque which kills these FA20 engines as everyone knows. Peak torque comes in at 4780rpm and is 209.9 lbs ft. Peak power is at 7170rpm. The car will also come with the full Ecutek kit and dongle which I purchased off Fensport, as well as an ELM wifi dongle which can be used to measure oil temps, boost pressure etc with apps like DashCommand etc.
I still have all the original manuals, will come with 2 keys,  and all the invoices from all the work I had carried out.  My original build thread from the car is here:

The car is priced at £15,695 but we are open to sensible offers. Any questions feel free to fire away and I will now post all the pictures below for everyone to look at!

    The next chapter......
So I've been talking to Mike from Tuning Developments over the last month or so about there Turbo kit and well it ended up with me booking it in for it to be done. Date was set wait was on, Date came car dropped off and the rest is history, (well kind of) but that's not important.        I also had there own overpipe fitted, replacing the miltek one, and there 2nd decat pipe put on.   Appologies for lack of info/ text I honestly can't really think what I want to write, so I'll just chuck up a series of photo's that they took and have sent me over.   I think @Mike@TD.co.uk will be doing a small write up so I'm sure he will put far better information and explain why the overpipe has been changed in particular.    Thanks to Keith (Keethos) for the lift up to collect it yesterday.   and also of course a big thanks to Mike & Nick at Tuning Developments its been a pleasure dealing with them, always kept in the loop of how things were progressing. Shall be dealing with them again in the future.

Yeah mine was custom made for an N/A manifold, so it is not ideal when it comes to the different position of the downpipe, whereas obviously the AVO kit is designed for a turbo kit from the ground up. Yeah mine is a 2.5" currently, I did speak about upgrading to a 3" but apparently on our turbo setups, 2.5" is good for flow up to 400hp.. saves me some money
Yeah I did think it would be that mate, it does take some time to get used to.. do you notice it most on the down shifts when the revs start to fall? I like it, gives you that race car like feeling haha!
Yes I will be coming so it will be good to have a catch up and have a nose around your car bud. Not sure if I will get her on the dyno but I will be buying a few bits like a dedicated turbo blanket and maybe some accessories whilst I am there.
    Looking forward to it.

    stock GT86 max power at 6800rpm;
That's why we set the rev limiter to around 7300 rpm.
    Issue with revving these motors harder;

    1, valve spring specification;
2, crankcase issue with oil being churned around at high revs (engine breathing)
    3, engine componets
    4, piston speeds

280hp?! You are pushing a lot more than that Keith surely?!
I will be racing back from Warner Bro's studios as fast as I can on the Sunday. My MPG is going to suffer big time on the M25 but I really want to get back in time to meet up with everyone. It takes an hour according to Google Maps, I am sure we can knock a few minutes off that
I am also happy to give rides in my SBD turbo 86 as long as I get back before everyone naffs off.

Took my first couple of victims over the past week.

A 12 plate Leon Cupra R was up my bum leading on to a dual carriageway near my house, 2nd gear pull from 30 upwards through to 4th and I pulled on him consistently. With my custom map boost is now building from 2800-3000 onwards easily now, it is so much better.

Then the other day, a Revo tuned silver Octavia VRS on an 07 was taken off the lights up to 4th gear. Started off behind him, then as we hit the top of 2nd/start of 3rd I pulled out into the lane next to us and made inroads as we got into 4th.The guy driving and passenger pulled up alongside me at the next roundabout and asked why the thing went like shit off a shovel.. all I did was raise my eyebrows and I said... boost... and rolled the window up and they just laughed!

Can't wait until the engine is forged and I can start pushing it further.

Brakes and tyres are next though and will be done within the next 1-2 months. Saving hard at the moment

JamesP1991 got a reaction from Gringosteve in 2nd cat removal
2nd cat delete gives you a lovely rise in tone and because you will be running the stock cat back you won't have any drone. No CEL issues and you free up some flow!
A catless manifold is what you want to do if power/noise is your sole aim though, as it frees up a lot of flow and obviously it will become very loud! I haven't run a stock cat back with a catless manifold, but you will have some drone at motorway/cruising speeds after you have it done.
A map will be required to optimise the system though and clear all CEL lights due to the 02 sensors going mad! I ran mine unmapped with a catless setup for a few months though and the CEL does no harm to the engine. Just drives you mad if you suffer from OCD

Mine is in today for the fix, it was worse stationary. The plate warped and seal bypassed. New plate is fitted and seal currently curing.

Rich and the RRG guys know how to look after customers. Just had a phone call to explain and sent email with photos of the culprit

Light clusters have also been replaced. Looking forward to picking her backup tomorrow

Mine leaked from the blanking plate. Does yours smell worst when stationary in traffic Steve? That is when I noticed mine the most. Simple fix by resealing it and you should have no further drama. Mine has been fine since with no smell.

Bit of a delayed post as I've been very busy but last Wednesday I had all of this turn up at my work.

    Contained within were:

    Tomei Expreme UEL manifold
    Tomei Expreme over pipe
Tomei ExpremeTi Type 80 front pipe
Tomei ExpremeTi Type 80 cat back

Needless to say I was pretty excited so an unboxing shortly followed..

Now I haven't seen many exhaust bits and I don't really know good from bad but it all looks like epic kit (verified by people when I had it fitted) and the titanium bits are insanely light.

I went and got the front pipe and cat back fitted last Saturday, just in time for Japfest thankfully.

I don't think I can overstate how loud this thing is. Now I thought it would be loud but it's even taken me by surprise. There isn't really any escaping it and the drone is pretty fierce. That being said, I wouldn't change it for the world       I'm completely in love with it and now I'm looking forward to finishing it off with the UEL and the over pipe.

The only thing that makes me cringe a little at the moment are the cold starts in my garage first thing in the morning. It's earth shaking! If I up the revs by about 100 though it really helps and once it's calmed down the idle isn't particularly offensive.

I'm going to a couple of meets this weekend so I get to try it out some more and I'm most excited.

I may add to this later as it's been a bit of a rushed job at the end of my lunch

Here's a (rather naff) pic of it standing at Japfest 2 to finish

So I bought the car from Tweedbean on the forum with a few mods already in place.

Lowered (roughly 50mm) on Tein Flex Z coilovers
18" Gold BBS RSII wheels. with Vredstein Sessanta tyres.
P3 Vent gauge and code reader.
    Alcantara interior.
    BRZ side vents.
Engine bay had been tidied and some parts painted in VHT red.
    Silvertec bulbs.
    Plastidipped front bumper.
    Yellow fog lights.

So having had the car for a day, I had to change something to make it my own. So, I've started small and changed the rear number plate lights to LEDs as I had some spares that were the same fitment. No before picture for you but here's how it looks now.

I've got a few plans for the car so far, the first being fitting some adjustable front drop links as there aren't any on the car at the moment. I'll likely need to raise the suspension a bit too as it'll be my daily driver. Then fitting the Borla UEL and scorpion overpipe that came with it, along with a backbox which I haven't purchased yet. I'm currently considering the Cobra resonated or the Invidia N1 (I like the idea of the bungs to quieten it down every now and then) and I have a scorpion resonated decat to go on if that isn't loud enough, my Nissan 350z is pretty loud with a cobra non-res and unsilenced decats but I'd like this to be at least a little bit civilized and to pass trackday noise tests.
I also plan on having the roof wrapped black and possibly the boot to match how my previous car looked. Some buddy club rear lights could be nice too.

Then there is always some sort of turbo or supercharger to think about for in the future...
