Lauren 2259 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 Sandwich plate for the oil cooler and the filter is fitted? Good to see it's coming together.
Mark@Abbey M/S 235 Report post Posted May 24, 2014 Lauren filter is just fitted to keep everything sealed up. Take off plate for the oil cooler will be fittted when the motor is refitted into the car.
LFA 68 Report post Posted June 2, 2014 We have now fitted a brz to the engine. And whilst perusing the inter web I have identified a similar built project taking place at Possum Bourne in NZ. Going to have a dig around to see what I can find out.
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Good that's it going back in. Just went through the thread, what have Abbey actually done apart from fit a new sump? I just couldn't find any details anywhere.
LFA 68 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 They've built the motor; Pauter rods, lower compression CP pistons....

Lauren 2259 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 I'm agreeing with Ed here. 300bhp is easily enough. Ed, do you know what it lowered the compression to?
rob275 1817 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 I'm sure mark said it was 10:1 on the weekend.
Mark@Abbey M/S 235 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Rob, not it isnt that low. Will have a dig out of my paperwork later. Mark
Quixote 35 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 ..... that's all you need It's all about the area under the curve, not headline figures I hope you'll be posting the dyno results? Stock header or aftermarket? I presume no primary cat to get to 300hp?
LFA 68 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 It's all about the area under the curve, not headline figures I hope you'll be posting the dyno results? Stock header or aftermarket? I presume no primary cat to get to 300hp? Yep, I'll report back with results and I think we are sticking with the existing header arrangements. 300 was a bit of a plucked from the air figure, but my real aim is to improve performance out of low and medium speed corners on track. Secondary cat went ages ago 1 Quixote reacted to this
Special K 442 Report post Posted June 4, 2014 Naah. With what you've specced I'd want to see at least 360bhp, Ed... Spec K 1 LFA reacted to this
LFA 68 Report post Posted June 9, 2014 Picked up the car today First impressions on the Abbey engine build; very good. 600 miles of restraint ahead of me then it's back for further mapping work and smaller pulley. Oil pan looks very nice in the flesh; very solid. I'm a big fan of detail and I'm still loving the stealth oil coiler ducting by Abbey. 3 Mark@Abbey M/S, Quixote and Kodename47 reacted to this

Good job l.f.a and mark we need to talk after my s.c install.. Liking this indeed! 1 LFA reacted to this

LFA 68 Report post Posted June 11, 2014 Just as an aside, I borrowed the keys to a 2014 wrx sti this morning from my local Subaru dealer and took it for a 10 minute drive. Whilst it was mighty quick, I couldn't help thinking about how out of place the power delivery would feel in the BRZ and how relatively more challenging it would make the car to drive. Ok I was on 'Sport Sharp' or whatever the agressive sti map is called, but the delivery was just on or off, just a touch of the throttle meant full beans !! Keethos 842 Report post Posted June 11, 2014 Nice, are there any differences with your Sprintex unit compared to say Rob's or someones? Besides possibly going smaller pulleys?
LFA 68 Report post Posted June 11, 2014 The same, although we can easily evolve the charger. Lower comp, more boost / smaller pulley.
CHOSENMAN007 81 Report post Posted June 11, 2014 What pulley are you using now, 75mm?
