KevinA got a reaction from Lmc in Clutch for Fi car
As an idea 500bhp 4WD cars with launch control are doing 0 to 64 ft in 1.9secs I'm at 2.1secs with RWD so fairly hard launch.

KevinA got a reaction from Lmc in Clutch for Fi car
I have the Exedy clutch in my my FI 86, feels very similar to OEM and stands up to sprinting and track work well. Had all sorts of clutches in previous monsters but they tend to not drive as well.

KevinA reacted to XK140 in Wheel Offset
Lauren,many thanks for that reassurance.
I've never gone down the road of fitting spacers/more offset rims and when you do a search on that topic you come up with some dire warnings that problems as I mentioned could well happen.
On the other hand, you only need look at a few forums to realise that loads of people routinely fit spacers with no problems stated.
I will tell the insurance before I fit them.
P.S.Now I've driven the GT86 a bit more I'm feeling the torque dip from 3 to 4.5k...so the TD package beckons...maybe next year!
Regards,John.

KevinA got a reaction from git-r in TSS Rules and Regs
OEM pads are fine for sprinting, no probs running completely stock.

KevinA reacted to Lauren in Schroth Rallye 3 ASM harness
The belts are sided with an anti-submarining bit built in, so it would release and lengthen the shoulder strap on the left hand side to prevent it pulling you to one side. It's not designed to be used with HANS, well your seat isn't. It may or may not put your neck under more load. I shouldn't think it's any different than the effect of a regular seat belt though.
The age old harness/roll cage debate. I just think it's rubbish really, but others seem to have a strong viewpoint on it. The likelihood of the roof caving in and it compressing your neck is a very small one probability wise. I.e., not significant. Your head, your decision at the end of the day.

KevinA got a reaction from Lauren in Round 3 Anglesey
Just a note to all going to Angers, not easy to book accomdation. I spent sometime finding a hotel. Managed to book the Bull Hotel which is only 20 mins from the circuit.

KevinA got a reaction from Lmc in Round 1 TSS Cadwell Saturday 6th April
Best lap of Cadwell before the rain, shame about the messed up gear changes after Coppice. Could have been a good time.

KevinA got a reaction from vanko25 in TD Turbo Feedback
Went forged just for safety as some stock boosted engines have dropped rods, also the car spends most of it's time on the track and I may want more 😆

KevinA got a reaction from Lmc in TD Turbo Feedback
After getting my car back from Tuning Developments where I had a forged engine rebuild and one of the TD turbo kits done, it was a baptism of fire and straight into round 1 of the TSS at Cadwell Park.
The car performed without a single hiccup, mapped at 280bhp so as to comply with my class rules it felt progressive but very punchy. I will need to adjust my driving style to get the best from it as it certainly is a step up from my NA kit, which was superb. I took a few people for some passenger laps on the track day prior to sprint day and the opinion was it felt pretty good.
I would like to thank Mike and Nick of TD for the hard work and hours they put in to get me ready for TSS, all the details will be on the TD website soon for anybody wanting full spec.

KevinA got a reaction from Test Drives Unlimited in SuperChips remap?
Go specialist it is the way forward no doubt !

KevinA reacted to BRZ-123 in SuperChips remap?
First things first, Super chips is a very reputable company, been leaders in the chip tuning business and i know of them since i knew about chip tuning and have used them in the past. If you go to their HQ in Milton Keynes, they will even dyno the car for free alongside the tune.
Secondly for an NA car, unless there are specific restrictions like for a mazda 3, the same car comes in 2 states of tune a 120 BHP and a 165 BHP and the throttle cut off removal really unlocks the extra power. For a turbo car, its a different story and the gains with just a tune are noticeable. For a GT86, there is no such restriction and for the hardware it comes really well tuned. With a superchips tune you will not gain much.
The ECUTEK gives you all fancy features like flat foot shift, launch control etc, which people rarely use in daily driving.
So in summary, for our cars a NA tune without hardware changes (like manifold) is not worth it as the gains will be rarely noticeable.
