    Still working that out Keith,

My system cost me about £80 to get running but it was crude / cut wires etc.

Have ordered a few plugs to hopefully get a plug and play harness built. Once i've done this i'll have an accurate idea of the cost of bits.
The most expensive bit is the actual PC. But am working on getting thoose cheap too!

Just to clarify for those who don't already know, the issue when the windows do stick a bit and you get flashing window switch, is that the window will no longer return back to it's closed position (after it drops an inch, it won't go back up when you close the door) and some cases, the window can't be wound down or up at all like in Rob's case.  This is just a fail safe that they build in to prevent damaging the windows in cold icy conditions.

The reset sequence that Alec mentioned above is to hold both window switches down (so the windows drop all the way down, if the passenger side doesn't, you might need to use the passenger's side window switch to do so), once they are both down, back on the drivers side controls, hold the switches up so both windows closes but continue to hold the switches up for about 10 seconds, after which, this should reset and sync the windows.

Yeah default apps just take over the screen. Including when you put it in reverse. The camera still works etc. Just treat this input as any other. Bluetooth for example. Rather than showing the track and album art work it just shows the video input.

And absolutely Keith! Good thinking. This is what I've actually done. I use my iPhone to connect and control it. Works really well as its a direct connection. The android pc acts as a Wifi hotspot which my phone then connects to.

I've also go on order a small 'airmouse and keyboard' about the side of a remote control but has a full qwerty keyboard and track pad mouse on it.

Anything Android can do. This can pretty much do.

This can be done Keethos, but I have also added two audio RCA inputs in the glove box so that you can input audio in via these. The two audio RCA inputs in the glove box basically mimic the front aux port.

You can of course play any music that is on the android pc, via ipod, usb or SD card.
Unfortunately because the telemetry input is technically a new 'source' it also switches audio. So there is no way that I can see of being able to have the Bluetooth or iPod audio source whilst looking at the telemetry screen.
But hopefully with the airplay / bluetooth streeming to the android pc should be pretty seamless and easy.

I've been using the Aux port on the front and have noticed no loss of quality! Although not having the skip / back buttons is annoying!

No problem Keith. I'll let you know when it's all ready to go. It can be installed now with a little extra work, but hope to get the plug and play kit sorted pretty soon!

No spring compressors needed as you're removing both the shock/spring assembly to replace it with a new one

Fitting isn't too difficult, although if you're unsure, get the assistance from a competent mechanic

Some of you may know that i’ve been working on a little something for the Toyota Touch (& Go) head unit. I’ve now successfully managed to get it all working and set up perfectly to my liking.

After many hours of fiddling and tweaking with wires I’ve got it working. Spent hours fiddling, went through 3 methods and 4 pcs! Blew a couple of fuses, and broke my reverse camera cable in the process, but now have a fully integrated Telemetry data input into the head unit.

This makes use of a hidden input on the Toyota touch which isn't enabled by default. The ‘VTR’ Input, which is basically a video composite RCA input.

So this is what i’ve done and now have running….

Integrated 3 RCA panel inputs into my glove box along with a 12v ignition power supply….

A Mini Android PC in the glove box to input into the head unit. This Android pc will be replaced with a far smaller one which I am still waiting to arrive. I’ve used this one for testing as it is available in the UK. The one that’s coming from China is smaller, lighter and much cheaper. But takes several weeks to get here it would seem. I’d already tried another one from China but because of the android version it would not run Bluetooth or communicate with the car.

I’ve got a little more tweaking to do with the Android box to make it more streamline but the PC now boots up, and opens up the Torque App into a dashboard automatically. Giving full engine telemetry on the screen. Including Oil Temp and Boost Pressure (If FI) along with any other data that is available from the GT86 ECU. And there is a lot! The data can be in the form of dials, graphs or numbers. Many of you know the Android Torque Pro app so anything you can do that, can pretty much be outputted to the head unit now.

Sorry for the poor video, this was done using my iPhone wedged in the passenger head rest late at night. But gives a general idea.

And because it is technically just an android PC anything else you can do on android can also be done on the head unit. Angry Birds, Browser, films, music, pictures etc.

This is still early development and I plan to keep on working on it to make it as possible and integrated as possible.

The limitation at the moment are….

Only form of input is via Keyboard or Mouse.

Slow boot-up time, I am promising settings and removing unwanted start up services to speed up boot.

Only audio input is via the Front Jack Input or red and white RCA input. Audio can be played using the android pc, or inputted into the front jack from iPhone or iPod etc. But when in the ‘VTR’ Source you can’t use Bluetooth or iPod connection. And you can’t have the telemetry showing whilst listening to the radio etc. But I am working on a method so that apple users will hopefully be able to ‘air play’ to the android pc via WiFi or Bluetooth. I have this half working.

Small text is difficult to read due to the 480p resolution. But setting all text to large is fine, and once in the torque app it’s not a problem.

The install process is very fiddly and complicated. But I will hopefully be making some wiring looms which allow an effective ‘plug and play’ solution. I will also be putting together an install guide for those who want to attempt it themselves. I need to tidy my install up, get some decent pictures and then i’ll get together a guide.

Currently the software requires a bit of tweaking and setting up to work smoothly. But again i’ll add this all into the guide.

Bulletproof Automotive x Scion Concept One SEMA Preview

10/29 - Our most ambitious project debuts today. We convinced our friends at Scion North America to let us build them a complete FR-S Supercar. We believed that if we applied our custom car building knowledge and rebuilt the car completely in all areas that we could build a car worthy of being the Lexus LF-A's baby brother. It was a hard challenge, besides getting a power/weight ratio exceeding the LF-A we had to work on creating a supercar feel in all aspects. This meant replacing every interior component with carbon fiber, alcantara and gold accents. This meant replacing all of the body work, suspension, brake system, engine...basically everything. The result retains the amazing lightweight 86 chassis and provides a pure drivers car paired with exotic materials and exotic performance. We're proud to introduce the complete car and vision we call the Bulletproof Automotive FR-S Concept One. 500hp, less than 3000lbs (1,360kgs by my conversion), exotic materials everywhere, supercar grade bodywork, Lamborghini paint and a proper 6MT.

Keethos reacted to Lauren in Gig review; Suede and Teleman
When I'm not doing car stuff, my other passion is most definitely music. I confess to listening to 6Music pretty much 24/7, I think I'm addicted, but at heart I'm a bit of an 'indie chick' and the chance to see Suede was just too good an opportunity to miss.    I also thought it would be good to get some other topics on here.      Teleman were the supporting act:   I've heard some of their stuff on 6Music  over the summer. 'Steam Train Girl' probably being the track being their best known really.    So, I was interested in what they might be like. They started quite well, but were just not strong enough IMO. Steam Train Girl was the one everybody seemed to like. Teleman are sort of Indie-electronica type band.    Felt a bit underwhelmed by them tbh. So, no download for them.    Suede:   Well, Brett Anderson has some presence alright. Started off with some of the Bloodsports songs (their new-ish album and the first in nine years). That was good enough but of course everyone (well everyone over 40) wanted to hear some of the Bernard Butler stuff, ie the first two albums.    Well, they didn't dissapoint and I was soon pogo-ing when Animal Nitrate came on. They also played So Young, The Drowners (of course!) an absolutely epic version of Asphalt World complete with a soaring end just like the album version, but better. Also did Metal Mickey.    The weakest points were the slow ballad tracks, though opening with Still Life was brave to be fair and highlighted Brett's voice, which is impressive.    Overall, I rocked till I dropped and got a black cab all the way home with the windows open in an attempt to cool down. Half an hour late I was still buzzing.    Highly recommended. :+:   View from behind the mixing desk:

Be careful when wrapping the head unit surround to make sure you angle the wrap correctly. You might be better going for a 90 degree rotation on the wrap as it may be difficult to match the angle of the pattern exactly and might look better as a contrast rather than an almost but not exactly the sameAlec

Keethos got a reaction from faith in Replacing the reverse lockout
Again, bar the part about the gear knob, the rest are assumptions, you may not need to remove the silver surround at the base but I'm just assuming that because the pully flange part is attached to the leather part, that removing the base thus freeing up the leather would be helpful in some way. My part about an Allen key is all guess work but it's the same lines of what rob said about a security lock or something, all I know is that at the front and back of the pully flange part, there is a small hole at the front and back of it which I'm just assuming is maybe where this security locks / possible Allen keys are located. Interested in seeing what your going to replace it with!

This was via the adanced button, then images, upload, choose the file and then send it to server....does this work? I've know I can upload it to another site like photobucket or what not (facebook in most cases) and then copy the url's over.
