Yeah I can highly recommend the Cossie / AP kit. One of the best mods that I did to my car. They give so much more confidence on track and will take whatever you throw at them in their stride whilst staying consistent throughout.
If you don't want 18's though I'd recommend the standard AP kits or one of the Reyland kits that are AP but with their own mounting hardware or disc options that can reduce the cost. There are also other kits out there that are just as good but I'd stick to the proven brands such as AP, Stoptech, Brembo and Alcon (Megabucks, but pretty much cream of the crop in terms of brakes)
It's really not worth going for the cheaper kits like K-Sport if you're serious about tracking. Proper kits are built to handle much more stress and are also lighter and give better feel which is important when you are braking as late as possible on track, you need that confidence that every time you hit that pedal you are going to get the braking performance and feedback you expect and that they will never let you down.
Also don't get caught up in the "more pistons, means it's better" BS, this isn't true at all and is normally how most of the cheaper kits try and blag that they are better. A well designed caliper with fewer pistons can easily outperform a badly designed one which just has as many pistons as they could cram in there cause bigger numbers look better. I've toured Alcon's factory and the amount of engineering, R&D and product testing that goes in to making these kits is insane, you won't get anywhere near that with cheap brands like K-Sport.
Definitely get a master cylinder brace too as others have suggested, improves the pedal feel quite a bit, especially under heavy braking.

So it's now official, my 86 is gone! I dropped it off at the dealer today as part exchange, was quite interesting as none of the sales guys there had ever really come across one so they were all trying to call dibs on taking it for a spin afterwards to see what it was like . Hopefully it ends up going to a good home.

It's been an awesome car and I've met some great people through owning it (some of which are now some of my closest friends) so it was a bit sad to say goodbye but it was time to move on to something else.
Hopefully I'll still be welcome at some of the club meets and track days, albeit if I have to park in a corner

Anyways, say hello to the replacement: An E92 M3 Alpine Edition

To have it on with the rear lights you need to re-wire the internals and use the extra red wire to tap into one of the tail light wires.
It's fairly easy to do, there's a few guides around on various 86 forums and youtube on how to do it. You just need a soldering iron which you can get for around a tenner on amazon.

HariboPenguin got a reaction from SimonB95 in Selling my car - Incoming Partout!
Yep you read that correctly, I'm getting rid of my car, so all the mods I've done to it will be up for sale later this month. I'll be making proper sales threads for them as they come off the car but just wanted to make this post to gauge interest and for people to call first dibs on any parts they may be interested in once they are off the car.
    Partout List
Tein Flex A's Cosworth AP Racing 6 Pot Big Brake Kit Valenti rear tail lights (Red lens) Valenti rear bumper light (Smoked) TD UEL Manifold TD Overpipe TD Exhaust (Resonated) TD Super-Res midpipe P3 Cars vent gauge Cosworth Oil Sump Baffle Plate 8.5J Japan Racing JR11 Wheels (Hiper Black) Full set of 235/40/18 AD08R's Pioneer F88-DAB head unit Powerflex Gearbox Bush Rays anodised red valve caps If you're interested in any of the above either reply to the thread or PM me and I'll make a note so you get a chance to have first dibs before they go up for sale everywhere.

All will be revealed later this week in another thread

Lights should be coming off within the next day or 2 so should have pics and prices for these soon. AP's, bushing and head unit will hopefully be off in about 2 weeks.

Haven't decided on a price yet as it will depend on the condition once they're off the car. They have only been fitted for a month though so are pretty much still brand new other than some pad wear. The prices for everything should be very reasonable though.

This isn't a sale thread, just letting people know that I'm selling the car and I'll be selling the listed parts later this month. This is just so I can gauge interest for the parts that will be coming off so I can prioritise what is worth taking off or not. Once the parts are off the car proper sales threads will be made for each with pics and prices don't worry. I can't do this now as they are all still fitted and prices will be dependant on condition once they're off and I've had change to check them over.

HariboPenguin got a reaction from infernouk in Insurance time of year! suggestions?
Yeah as @will300 said some are open on Saturdays, plus some have online forms you can fill in beforehand and ask for a call back to save some time giving details over the phone. Definitely worth a ring around imo.
Also bear in mind if you plan on doing more modifications a mod friendly insurer may save you money in the long run even if the annual premium is more expensive. Each mod I added with admiral normally cost £50+ a time. Now it's just a 5 min phone call (with somebody who actually knows something about cars and modifying) and no charge. Even adding a supercharger taking the car to 300bhp would only cost me £180!
Having like for like cover is also something to bear in mind, even though regular insurers will add mods to your policy, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are actually covered. So if you spend £1000+ on a set of coilovers for example and have a crash they may not replace them like for like, just with OEM parts which obviously aren't worth as much.

HariboPenguin got a reaction from infernouk in Insurance time of year! suggestions?
If you've modified then you can probably get cheaper quotes from some of the specialist insurers such as Adrian Flux, Greenlight, Chris Knott etc. These also come with extra perks such as non-power mods being included free depending on policy, cheap track day cover, like for like parts cover etc.
I'm with Adrian Flux now and have found them amazing so far. Even covered my TD NA remap free of charge.
Used to be with Admiral too but they were absolutely abysmal when it came to make a claim. Had a crash 4 cash style incident and they refused to even look at my dashcam footage proving that I was not at fault. (I even had to pay extra on my policy to declare the camera!) Ended up having to go through the insurance ombudsman to sort everything out. They even tried to keep me from moving and tried to make me accept a £1000 increase by saying they might be able to recover it and refund me after renewal but wouldn't be able to if I moved! I'd avoid them with a barge pole if I was you!

In the past we've met up beforehand nearby and convoyed in, I assume we will be doing the same again.
I'd add yourself to the reserve list anyways as there tends to be quite a lot of drop outs as it gets nearer the date so if you're high up on the reserve list there's a high chance of getting in.
