Gringosteve - I applied the A01G STD map first (mine was A00G, dealer said this was the latest but I knew it didn't have DI injector seal fix which bugged me) then applied the OFT STG1 map using romraider to check tables before applying the map. That aspect seems to work fine but documentation is limited so you spend a lot of time looking for info on other websites. You can't switch maps like ecutek but my car is standard so wasn't bothered by that. Quite nerve-racking when you apply the first map but once you've done it you stop worrying!
I liked the ecutek solution but software and licence seem expensive when you're only making small gains on a standard car.

10% is the chance of me fitting the wing bud! I'll be at japfest no worries!! Well if my tickets turn up haha

I'm not a watch collector in any shape or form but as an engineer, I definitely respect the detail and complexity of them, came across this video that I saw and thought of this thread so thought I'd share it:

Ooooooh look what turned up today
Rotrex supercharger which should be pushing around 1bar of boost to the V8 for upwards of 450bhp! Next step is to bolt this onto the engine and start playing with pipework to find the best routes and space for this to fit

    Hey Guys!
My name is Alan Bennett, I'm 20, and I've just purchased the deal of a century.
I brought this 2015 Subaru BRZ for a very modest price.
You may have seen it around or heard of it, it had a 6 page spread in Japanese performance mag, and now I'm going to take it to the next level.
The previous owner ( before the dealer whom I brought it from) spent £26,000 buying the car new a year and two weeks ago, then after having the car for a week he took it to knightracer and spent a further £25,000 on all of the carbon, suspension, monstrous brakes and of course the supercharger. ( I paid less than what he brought it for from subaru!)
It's loud and OTT, and not to every bodies taste, but I love it.
Figured I'd join this as I'd like to document the developments I make to the car so other people can do similar / seek advice/ avoid problems.
    So yeh, hey
If you'd like to learn a little more about me and how I managed to afford to buy/ insure this car my 'about me' section will give all of the information you require !
I look forward to meeting some of you, and making new friends.
Is there anyone on here attending Japfest this year? I'll be there in a show spot !
EDIT*********************** for more info on the car please see my build thread --- link after the pictures

Yeah they can be pretty decent in the wet, but they are very quick in the dry for a "summer" tyre. Only thing about them is they need a bit of heat to grip really well being a ~200 tread wear tyre.
Never had them myself, but I had a passenger ride in Stu's car (ex forum mod on the otherside) with both the stock suspension and Ohlins. My god they grip when warm. I think they were AD08 not the AD08R which as about 1second slow over a 1:20 lap than the AD08R.
If you believe the below video the AD08R dropped the lap time from 1:25:5 on primacies to 1:21:8 on the AD08R

Also here is a comparison of most extreme performance tyres in the USA. Most of these are not available in europe due to regulations forcing the use of reused oil. Anyway you can see some footage in the wet WARM weather.

    Hi
Toyota would not fit the part as they stated the aero spoiler was designed around the aero kit and not a standard 86. The holes on the spoiler do align however additional drilling of the boot is required to align some of the other fittings. The item how now been sold, thank you for everyone's interest.

What's interesting is that I ummed and ah'd about it for three years! I too knew I wouldn't see a mega horsepower improvement and I've never believed Cosworth's claims of 230bhp or when people say you're going to get 220bhp. So I weighed it up and thought, well, it's just not worth it really. After a lot of thinking about it for a while longer, I thought I'd give it a go. Obviously I did it and in terms of extra power there isn't a huge amount. But, having said that the throttle response is just totally different from before. I never had an inkling that it would feel so flat going back to a map with stock throttle response, but blimey does it feel bad! I wanted to post up a big review of my experiences since the remap, but in the three days since I've had it done, I've done 2 miles to work and back each day. However, today I had a funeral to go to in Chorley which is a 70 mile round trip.
I think Mark summed it up well from the passenger seat. He felt it was just so much smoother and whilst the increase in power doesn't make you go wow, the increased mid range where there's a 20lb/ft torque increase is certainly noticeable. I really think it would be hard to drive the car now on a stock map as the difference is far more marked than I initially believed it would be. So effectively, I'm suprised by the difference it has made. Sure it's £530, which is not an insubstantial amount of money, but I'm glad I've done it if that makes sense.

Very well! I am fully bedded in and happy with the performance. Braking force is easily controllable and have heard no squeak. My OEM pads squeaked all the time.
I seem to get a little more dust than with OEM, but nothing concerning.

The car's now back with me for a little bit to receive some much needed TLC
She was picked up from Abbey's this morning and transported back home to spend a few weeks on my driveway. Just want to say a big thank you again to @Mark@Abbey M/S and the team for everything they've done so far. It's been a tough few months but Mark and Scott kept me up to date every step of the way and have really helped me out in so many ways

It's great to see her again and even better to have her home, but she is looking a bit rough - no engine, no gearbox, rusty brake discs, filthy dirty etc

Can see through the car from the interior!

And there seems to be some bits missing under the bonnet...

I couldn't help but have a bit of tinkering time with her after so long, so decided to start fitting my aftermarket steering wheel boss and quick release, but didn't get very far when I realised I've got the wrong hub  just 1 character difference in the part number, should hopefully have the correct one soon thanks to @Tarmac

Various boxes of bits also came with the car, still a a few more bits to collect later in the week!

Last thing to do today was to put her up on axle stands and remove the wheels, ready for a deep cleaning session at the weekend (if I get time!)

V8 has been stripped, blasted and painted ready to go. Gearbox is being custom made using a BMW casing as the 1UZ only ever came with an automatic transmission in the Soarer. Hopefully she won't be sitting on the driveway for too long, we're planning to have the V8 conversion completed by the end of April/beginning of May

    Update -
Work in the bodyshop is now nearing the end. All the major work is now complete. The arches and skirts have been painted over the weekend, and have come out great. My concern was getting a close match to the pearl white, but Lee has done a brilliant job.
Spraying of the front bumper and boot today, then time to reassemble. Hoping it will be ready for Wednesday.

Looking forward to getting these bad boys on!!!

So... Toyota recovery out to start the car, down to RRG - absolutely bursting at the seams according to Claire - nevertheless here we are a couple of hours later with a new style battery fitted under warranty.
I can only apologise to those of you who don't live in Macclesfield. Top notch service - this must be what it's like owning a Bentley...

Thought this might be useful for people who have bought their 86's used and are unsure whether they have a 'new', more powerful, or 'old' battery.
First picture is the 'new' battery (you can see it's all black):-

Second picture is the 'old' battery (you can see it's white with a black top):-

Just gone through this ordeal myself, battery would go flat, would have to jump to get to the dealership for them to test the battery, which would never fail, so I stumped up and bought the replacement. Below is a picture of the old battery and the new one.
    Note the significant power difference.

Squadrone Ross: Hmm, if your's is T&G+, not T&G, shouldn't you have free map updates? I wonder for what it's charged in that bill?
IIRC one had to: ready fat32 formatted usb stick (at least 4G size), make usb footprint from navi to it, install toyota's T&G toolbox, create user & login on my.toyota.eu, enter there your car VIN / navi serial number, check what's available from maps (for standard T&G one needs to purchase. Don't know how it really is with plus version).
Meanwhile with toolbox running insert usb stick with footprint, agree to download some updates on it, login in with my.toyota.eu created login, in Downloads or Updates(?) d/l map update, wait till it copies it to usb stick. It might be lengthy process, especially map updates (was 40min for me). Imho worth do it at same time with some longer trip, to not burn fuel for nothing during update process.
If one fsck-up FW upgrade process, from this page listed 1.7.4 firmwares (high for plus version (link), low for standard (link)) can help unbrick. They can be used to update (read - unbrick) any T&G without any purchase/footprint issues (probably because they are listed as minimum version to work with T&G toolbox), and it's fast (as they don't include navi maps, firmware only. 78M vs ~ 2.5-3G).
I also found a way to to install newest firmware even if one doesn't have 'purchased' very latest maps (when i generated in toolbox usb stick with firmware and maps i had, i put in newer firmware version's swdl.iso & it's checksum file instead or original), but imho it's not worth the hassle. Failed to successfully update maps to newer that i haven't purchased though, even if i found where to download latest maps, i still need to get it through toolbox, that setups them on usb also checksums & licences for maps update to not fail at the end with update content consistency check. After fail needed to unbrick and after that reflash back with whatever latest was listed as purchased/available.
I still think that stock navi is overpriced crap that is far inferior to normal navigation systems and totally not worth the cost. I got it used for cheap from ebay, but imho those 100GBP would be better spent on some aftermarket HU. My condolences to anybody paying full sticker price for Go/Go plus.
