Tareim reacted to Mike@TD.co.uk in Open Day Spring 2016 @ Tuning Developments 27/03
A huge thank you from myself and Nick to everyone who made the journey out for the day. Was a pleasure having everybody here
I think we did very well with the weather considering the reports I was getting in the morning when opening up! It was nice to meet some new faces and have a catch up with some familiar faces too, apologies to anyone who I didn't get a chance to speak with, there were more in attendance than we anticipated to be honest which was excellent to see By the time the dyno had quietened down the heavens had opened so test drives in our car wouldn't have been ideal, next time
We can do another day later in the year if people would like to, no bother...
Thanks again,
Mike

Looks like another great TD meet
@Mike@TD.co.uk will there be a summer meet for me to bring the GTV86 up for a dyno run?

Exactly. Why the trend for tall vehicles with crap visibility? That car is entirely made of arse.

Tareim reacted to Ade in STS Imports - Cheap way to import goods from USA
For anyone that wants to import good from the USA, I highly recommend STS imports.
For those of you that don't know, when you import goods to the UK from North America, you pay 3-5% import duty on Automotive items and the further 20% VAT on the top of that. Here is an example shipped via courier: A nice set of wheels might cost ~$1200, but shipping is $600 on top of that. Bringing to the total to $1800 or about £1200. When they arrive in the UK they have 4.5% duty => £54 and VAT (20%) => £240 and also a fee for bringing them through customs. Bring the total to about £1500 Here is the same example shipped via STS Imports: Now the way STS imports work is you have the goods sent to their warehouse in Florida and they get put on their next container (usually one every 6 weeks) and delivered to their UK warehouse in Chelmsford Essex about 3 weeks later. From there you can either pick the goods up or arrange for STS to send them on to your address of choice. STS imports charges vary depending on the item, but for a set of wheels it cost me £100 + VAT and import duty. So going back to the example of the $1200 wheels. You can get them shipped at a low cost inside the USA usually for something like $50 to their Florida address. So about £850 You then wait for them to arrive and RON will bill you. In the case above it would be £100 for the service + import (£38) + VAT (£170) + shipping within the UK (£50). So the total cost would be £258 Bring the total cost getting the wheels here using STS imports as £850 + £258 = ~ £1100 That a massive £400 saving if you don't mind waiting. I used STS imports to bring over some wheels from Canada as I couldn't find a distributor in the UK for them. Ron, owner of STS, tells me that the massive savings come from importing large heavy and/or bulky items. I got their details from a friend who imports a lot of stuff for his Ford Mustang which includes, wheels, exhausts, suspension and body parts. If anyone is interested in using STS Imports, you can find there info on their main website: http://www.stsimports.co.uk/containers.html Just pop ron@stsimports.co.uk an email before you buy to discuss your needs. Thanks for reading -

Digital display in the instrument cluster looks interesting and front bumper looks much better than the new 86 one to me.
Think it'd be a brz for me if I was to swap to a facelift.

Glad you are seeing the benefits of a remap and glad you've started to see the benefits of the mid range like many of us mentioned before
Also, your drop in bhp could prove that my last remap didn't lose me power, perhaps it was just the reading of that day that varied like yours did today.

will have to have a chat with you on the open day @Mike@TD.co.uk about these after having a ride with @MikeB to see what the 4.67 is like and if it'd be a good change for me

I've got 4.67 on my daily. It's fine if not better. More usable torque in higher gears for easier overtaking with no shift down.
It's a great mod. 4.44 might not be as noticeable vs cost.

I have 4.67 manual and NA, certainly livens the car up but you can still end up in the wrong gear on track just like OEM. Will be on the open day if anyone wants a ride.

The more the merrier!
Just another reminder that we'll be running the dyno again at reduced cost for the day for those intrigued to run theirs up. We have lots of existing data from these cars to give feedback with.
We'll put some food on again as per last time, hopefully we get some sunshine too
Thanks
Mike
