Rich 378 Report post Posted April 27, 2016 Welp, no suspension this weekend for me, looks the car will be at RRG.
Ade 517 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 Any idea of when you'll get your car back?
Rich 378 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 Not yet, bank holiday today means the body shop is not working... I'm estimating probably a couple of weeks.
DanJ 374 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 what delight do you have as a courtesy car?!
Rich 378 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 I have RRG's red Yaris, on winter tyres! It's certainly a bit interesting in the handling department.
DanJ 374 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 Nice :-) better than being without a car though (just!) 2 Ade and Rich reacted to this
Mike 458 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Only time I was happy driving that Yaris was the day I went to pick mine back up 1 Rich reacted to this
Rich 378 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Well, Richard called, various bits are broken that were not obvious from the outside. Nearside headlight brackets are partly broken. Not sure if I can get away with not replacing (or maybe get one from a breaker's yard). Aircon condenser is broken, so that's a new expensive regas (mine is the expensive HFO-1234yf sadly). Chassis legs need straightening on a jig (already suspected this one).
Mike 458 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 You should be able to find a headlight nowadays, there's at least 1 company who races the GT86 that has replaced the headlights with dummies and I'm pretty sure there's been a few posts on FB about people braking the cars up for spare parts... Rich 378 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Yeah, I'll be looking for a second hand one, or going aftermarket I think (Valenti headlights are pretty nice looking). 1 Mike reacted to this
Rich 378 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Got the quote, it's proper expensive. Need to find how I can reduce costs as much as possible. Meh.
Tareim 343 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 can you not swap to the cheaper a/c if the condenser needs replacing?
Rich 378 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Dunno, not sure if that's possible without replacing other parts of the AC unit, which may work out more expensive overall.
Mike 458 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Presumably there are labour charges you can save by doing simpler things yourself? Does the quote include a new headlight? If you can fix the brackets, that's an easy save...
Rich 378 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 There's some labour, but a lot of it is bodywork which I'd really need fixing all at once before the bumper is resprayed. Not sure I'd save that much. I can definitely save some by not getting the A/C regassed by them, and hopefully by fitting my own headlight. Not sure if there is much more than that to save. Rich 378 Report post Posted May 4, 2016 Spoke to Richard again this morning. Aircon gas change requires a new compressor which makes it uneconomical compared to a regas, even with the crazy gas prices. Headlights are being swapped for aftermarket units from Fensport, saving me a fair chunk, even more if I can sell off my driver's side headlight on ebay. Apparently the whole bottom of the casing is broken rather than just the brackets, so not worth trying to save the passenger side unit. Decided to just get the rest done, it retains Toyota warranty that way, and I know I'll have a car with everything lined up and tidy. 2 Mike and Nicebiscuit reacted to this

Rich 378 Report post Posted May 13, 2016 Small update, car has been straightened out now, still waiting on parts though (due Tuesday). Might have it back next week (I hope). Really getting bored of the Yaris now. 1 Mike reacted to this
