Polishingpedlar reacted to Special K in Another GT86 Drivers Club Hoodie group buy!
.. because I've bought one as a spare... ( I've bought every other fscking thing on the market as a spare so I thought I'd make it a full house.. can't drive it though, it's a blurry manual..)
Special_K , I have been 'Special K' (with helmet design, pictures and copy in Autosport/Motoring News) since my original entry as a 750MC competitor in 1967. It was my moniker through my advancement into Clubmans Supersports (driving the works Haggispeed) until I took a short break, in 1976. I returned to motorsport in 2013, a mere 37 years later (I said it was a short break!), when I was enervated to find that the moniker had remained unused.
I am happy to concede this title/honour to you if you can demonstrate an earlier precedent.

Polishingpedlar reacted to Nicebiscuit in Hello. Not got one... Yet.
Got a test drive booked for Friday at RRG, so I shall find out what all the fuss is about. :-) Test drove a Fiesta ST yesterday which is the only other contender - it's (arguably) best affordable FWD hot hatch vs. best affordable RWD sports car. Will be interesting.

Yeah i've wanted the shorter plate with the 3D Gel Letters as this will match the TRD Gloss black really well. but not sure on the legality of it. hence why i've not done it yet. Benefit of the TRD kit is the bracket is made for a smaller plate.
Do it! You won't be disappointed! One of the best mods i've done! With a few tweaks it really is an awesome car!
You've already got the KWs! So you won't need much more! A good brake pad, and I assume you're already decat! It's asking to be bolted on!

Nice write up Jay.
I must say your not helping though....
I was trying to resist the urge to modify this year. This afternoon I had to stop myself phoning Mark and booking the car in.
I fear it won't be long.LOL!!!!

Took it out on it's first 'proper spirited drive' yesterday.
We met up with the Piston-heads forum group at Thetford and then convoyed to Stowmarket along some awesome back roads. We then drove a coastal road to Aldeburgh for some fish and chips! Around 70 cars turned up for the day!
All the way it was an absolute blast! On the B-Roads with momentum it just flys! It was catching me out at just how quick it accelerates out of corners! I'm glad I've got good brakes and a good pad compound!
I was behind an Audi RS4, BMW M3, EVO 8 and an RX7. Keeping up was no problem. Corners, straight lines and the likes were just perfect! This charger really makes for an awesome 'spirited driving' car! Staying in the 4 - 7k range on a back road is so much fun. A gear higher usually in corners makes it easier and a bit more usable out of corners. Fully controllable on the throttle, surge of power when you get on the throttle between corners and then plenty of torque out of corners to not need to shift down to 2nd. At one point I had an M3 behind me and wasn't holding him up at all.
Usually would have been a massive problem up front with those sort of cars!
All day I was getting compliments on how well it drove and how awesome it sounds! Few guys behind actually pulled over and complimented how great it sounded. On lift off there's a really nice burble and the odd pop apparently. One guy behind me has got some video which he's sorting out and will send to me.
Lifting off at around 7.5k rpm and you get the awesome recirc sound. Like your traditional Blow Off sound but a little more subtle and longer, and it's not super chavy which is nice, from the outside you can just hear that something is going on and the sound of Darth Vader breathing.
Out of roundabouts and B-Roads the Power to Weight is now identical to an E46 BMW M3. On the B-Roads I didn't really find anything out of league.
If you love reving your car out and using all the power of the rev range then the HKS Centrifugal is definitely worth thinking about! It still gives the sense of having to work the car and wind it up. But you just have a hell of a lot more power all of the time. It just keeps reving and reving! No way to really explain it unless you drive it. But imagine the stock car with just more power everywhere!
One of the best things I've done to the car!
Fuel wise, yesterdays run, driving it very hard 95% of the time. Full throttle blasts between most corners. I averaged 27mpg. Nothing to bad! Average I'm now getting 33mpg. Which is 2 mpg down on what I used to get. Not really a noticeable difference! And since i've had the charger fitted i've not really been economical with it! I should think I can get it up to around 35mpg again with a lighter right foot.

Polishingpedlar reacted to smudge in Smudge's UK Tour!
Yesterday was time to come home after an epic few days of cars, people, partying, great roads and cities
Edinburgh back to London took us just 7 hours with a stop at Keele Services so a great run home
And after almost 1,100 miles she was finally home, safe and sound. Albeit a bit dirty!
I did the entire drive back from Edinburgh to London and I wasn't even tired after getting out of the car. It is so comfortable on long cruises and averaged 34mpg on the run home, including a fair few "spirited" runs along the way
A whole new love was found for the car this weekend, she outperformed in all aspects! Got some amazing comments all weekend and can't wait to see some of the professional footage being put together

Just a few pictures from the convoy up to Edinburgh from Manchester
We all agreed that staying as close to 1 big convoy as possible is the way to do it, and that plan didn't disappoint. At one point I could see about 20 cars from the rally around us, it was just epic. I can't even imagine how much footage there is in total for the group
The weather wasn't with us most of the way but it didn't matter with the variation of epic cars and people
Finally hit the border
And finally arrived in Edinburgh
And all tucked up in the car park for the night, ready for a 450mile trip home tomorrow

Hmmm I'm hammered so not sure if Ive understood correctly, but looking at the entry list I'm the only one that hasn't put the DC as a team that is unsponsored and the like...
Lauren is down as RRG because Gary couldn't get his car finished/make it in assuming as he's off the list now...
8quid isn't expensive to get the name about at all and I'm more than happy to pay for it.
I don't think the TSS side of the Club should take money out of the rest as there is 20 of us(approx) that compete out of the membership.
Those that compete should be happy (I know I am) with paying the extra to keep and promote the support this club gets...
Who's heard of the owners club recently

I like to think this forum is a little different to others on the net. We actually arrange driving & social events so it's a nice friendly close group of people who you will actually meet. You can't hide behind a username forever So everyone plays nice, there are no big ego's on here which will put you down to better themselves.

Hey Everyone,
I've finally got around to doing some decent modifications to my GT86 and thought I'd share some pictures with you wonderful people, and possibly have some feedback on your thoughts.
First Mod was to change the exhaust system, I went for a custom build as there is a guy local to me who is A*, I had the exhaust fitted a few weeks ago and it sounds fantastic, second CAT delete.
I'm having a custom manifold being made and fitted tomorrow / Friday ready for the weekend so will try and get some more pictures and videos up on here with the finished product. Only problem is I'm loosing the primary CAT, but he is modifying the system to allow me to bolt the CAT on (when necessary). This should release a few more BHP!!
The exhaust tips are 5" wide and fill the space lovely, some say too big but I guess its personal preference.
IMG_3473.MOV
My only fear is once the manifold is put on, how much louder will it get.
This weekend I've bought some coilovers, ST XTA Coilovers with adjustable top mounts.
And some Gold 18" Rota Grids (8.5" Front 9.5" Rear), its been dropped about 50mm all around.
I may need to raise it slightly as It takes me about 20 mins to park on my drive hmmmmm.
I'm now looking at getting the shark fin done, TRD spoiler and a few other bits and bobs. Any other recommendations?
Btw this is my first proper post so I hope I'm doing it right and all the pictures work lol.

Just read the finals, for those travelling down the afternoon before Javelin are at the circuit from around 17:30 so maybe it would be wise to get scrutineered then (they've said its ok) would then save a bit of time for them in the morning and give those making mag boards a bit of extra...
Just an idea but it's what I'm planning on doing
