MR2 reacted to surrey86 in FB and rival Club Stands
To me it makes sense they want their own stand at Japfest. There was already two existing GT86 clubs, they decided they wanted to be different so made their own club, fair enough.
If you're going to the effort to make your own club, why would you then want to join existing clubs stands? It would defeat the whole point, unless I've missed something?

MR2 reacted to Leeky in brake pads/discs - main stealer or local garage?
Borg and Beck discs are very good and very cheap on ebay. OEM spec for a quarter of the price.
£46 for a pair of 294mm Front discs (BBD4119)
£42 for a pair of 290mm Rear discs (BBD5412)
Their brake pads aren’t too bad from what i’ve heard. But haven’t tried the pads myself. I had great results on track running the Cosworth pads on Borg and Beck discs before going big brake upgrade.

Labour per axle if you havent done it before (and have the tools) Probably an hour or so. If its something you've done on other cars, 30-40mins or so per axle.
Tools required:
Caliper Retractor/big ass screwdriver
17&15mm socket (I think, but a socket set will cover you).
Red/Silicon Grease for the slide pins,
Copper Grease
Torque Wrench
Jack
You can find the torque settings in the thread here.

If youre doing the rear disks, you'll need to wind the handbrake off the disks by removing the rubber gromet from the disk, have that located at the bottom. The bit at the bottom of the pic with the spokes pointing out (visible through the newly revealed hole in the disk). Turn it one way with a screwdriver through the hole, it pushes/pulls the shoes from the disks, that will allow easy removal. Dont forget to wind it back in on the new set until tight and release it 2-3 notches otherwise the handbrake will do sweet FA.

MR2 got a reaction from spikyone in Tuning Developments NA KIT + stock exhaust
Well if you do have to wait a bit, you can always console yourself with the fact that you're doing fairly ok already at 21 driving a stock 86.
Got my first car at 25. A 45bhp 1 litre Polo 🤣

MR2 got a reaction from Ignited in Toyota RWD fan
Hi Simon !
Did wonder if our paths would cross on the 86 forums. Just looked back at the pic you posted in the 86 thread on ROC. On your red car that wheel refurb looks like £6 well spent for sure 😀 .
Should be getting a cheap set of O.E. 2018 wheels soon to run different tyres. Might try some plastidip on the current set.

Hi Alan,
Welcome from another MR2 fan/owner. I normally see you on another forum!
Just painting the standard wheels with one colour transforms the look of the car to my eyes, I did all 4 with one large rattlecan.
Cheers
Simon.

MR2 got a reaction from Lauren in Toyota RWD fan
Thanks Laura 😃 (my name's Alan, but you can call me Ethel if you want, just nice to hear from a fellow MR2 fan). Have never tried a turbo MK3, but even in stock tune they can feel decently quick enough for a twisty B road IMO with sorted suspension and AD08Rs 🙂
Its still my ambition to have a nice MK1 someday, will just need to empty my garage first / build a bigger one.

MR2 got a reaction from Leeky in Manual or Automatic transmission??
Presumably the relative performance on track of the two gearboxes is of limited interest to the 'not looking to track day it' O.P.
EDIT - on the other hand maybe it is, as just realised he also said he was interested in thoughts on the Auto's dynamic performance 🤔
Personally if I run two vehicles, then 'as a rule' the more different the two vehicles are the more fun it is swapping between them. So, if I should happen to be running an Automatic SUV as a daily (unlikely as I hate SUVs and I've never owned an Automatic) then all the more reason for my weekend/ evening sports car to be manual.
But I am biased against Autos......
Only reason I can see to get an Auto GT86 for road use is if you are going to daily it in stop start traffic.
Love the manual gearchange on my 86 which is certainly beautifully positive and short of throw compared to other manuals I have used in the past, would agree that the clutch action is not the best in slow traffic, but for an evening / weekend car surely less of an issue.
