Steeps got a reaction from Camilz in Fensport NA ECU Flash question
    Hihi
I wouldn't worry too much about an ECU flash, especially from established tuners on these forums as a lot of testing and logging has gone into them to get the best out of the engine. There was a case a while ago I think with a turbo owner and vvti issues who had difficulty getting it seen to straight away but eventually parts were swapped out under warranty.
Have the Cosworth 1.1 kit here (installed before they split the packages). Yes it cost more than other parts, probably not as many bhp as other parts, also it's just a bolt on kit rather than it being personally tuned, but the time invested in testing/dyno/engineering if there's an issue with their tune on my car I know I have the support of Fensport who installed it and Cosworth who mapped it to investigate any issues who I trust with the car more than any of my local dealers. The graph on Cosworth's site probably shows it better than I can explain it, with the remap (+filter +thermostat) you'll get more top end power but a catback will help get more out of it, and adds a bit of noise. I enjoy the car more with the extra poke it has
Usually try to attend most meets, there's one at Amber next weekend in Dunstable where there will be a couple of Cosworth cars and they sell the kit too.

Might as well post here rather than create a thread for a handful of photos, feel free to move them.

Simply put, it's an event where car owners all "sprint" along the same track from one timing gate to the finish gate to see who can get the fastest time, during the day there's a couple of warm up/sighter laps then about 8 runs to record your fastest time. Each car sets off about 30 seconds after the last so there's minimal risk of seeing another car on track, a bit like the old F1 qualifying where they'd send the cars out one at a time, but you have 8 attempts to set a time. Cars enter under their own "class" depending on modifications so you know who you're competing with.

Got some cards printed as I had a few people ask where to find the photos (although most know where the links are now, still useful to have).

I started off with a set of earplugs in mine, but lost them when I had a loaner GT86 for a week (forgot to take them out, wonder if the new owner found them). Moved onto the cig socket cover when I installed my dashcam after seeing the size was similar.

Having a different exhaust fitted the piped sound didn't suit the car anymore.

I've had my head unit replaced after 18 months (sat nav issues), so the 12 month warranty isn't true.

Car had to go in as I'd nearly hit 20k miles, so it went into one of my locals that knew I'm a PITA customer but one I hadn't already asked about the servicing.

Confirmed on the phone that all work required for the car at 20k and 2 years old would be serviced at £299 (paid for by voucher)
Just had it confirmed on the phone now that brake fluid and LSD oil have been replaced when I asked and my car is now ready to be collected....

And they'd done the work as stated in the book! LSD done because the car had done 20k miles, Brake fluid because it was 2 years old. They would have charged extra if I'd wanted them doing and it hadn't met those criteria (e.g 2 year service but only done 10k miles, or 20k service at 1 year old)

Feel a lot better using them as a dealer, so thank you Steven Eagell Bedford for doing the right thing without needing a prompt.

The same reason why you bought a GT86 over an Aygo, they Aygo isn't broke, your rear passengers would probably thank you for having more legroom. It has 4 wheels, gets you from A-B, cheaper to run too... so why didn't you get an Aygo? All modding does is makes the car a little bit more "you", be it a bit more noise to go with the awesome looks, a more homely interior, more power to drag race a hot hatch. A new home supplied with magnolia painted walls and beige carpets doesn't need replacing, it's all new!... but is it you? The layout works great, the location works for you... but you still want a matching kettle and toaster, new cushions and jazzy curtains to make it yours.

Back in a mo, off to see if someone does a Beige wrap for the car.

Guarantee or not, if they re-painted the bumper and tried to sell the car looking like that it would sit on their forecourt for weeks!

I'd expect it to look like that if it hadn't been painted.

300 mile round trip, so I could quite easily drive up, stay in a hotel, eat, take a courtesy car to Alton Towers and still have change for a drink when I get home, compared to taking it to my local dealer. All my locals are the same useless franchise

Just had new exhaust fitted and straddled to avoid a badger carcass on a NSL road, made a lovely noise as it made contact with the low pipe below the rear axle.

Steeps got a reaction from JamesP1991 in Cosworth GT86 article on Pistonheads
It's a bit unfair to say it's a rebranded Nameless system, it was designed by Cosworth and Nameless were chosen to produce the system for them which is why both names feature. The Cosworth designed system can't be bought from the Nameless store, and looking at their 3" systems it's a similar price to what's already available from them.

The 2.0 kit apparently is good for 380bhp with internals, but the package they sell out of the box is supposed to be a "one size fits all" kit that is designed to be reliable, how well it works with the autobox which in SpecK's thread they reckon is only good for 260bhp will be interesting to see.

In a way I'm pleased it's expensive, it means I can't afford it all so my wallet is safe
