Because you seem to be talking mostly complete shite and coming across as one of those people who think that only their way is correct and everyone else is an idiot. Yet you don't actually seem to have a great deal of evidence or experience on the 86 platform to support what you are saying.
You also put kisses at the end of posts, which for an old bloke is feckin weird 🤷‍♂️

Leeky reacted to Kodename47 in Big brake kit time?
That's because the well designed kits aren't designed to shift bias. You use piston area and disc size to maintain the balance, a BBK isn't primarily for improved braking distances, it's to get the heat out the system for longevity.

Crocodile electric remote roller door owner here. I’ve had it now 5 years and its never put a foot wrong.
I loved it so much I bought my father one too for his 60th.
Mine is identical to this (picture found on a quick google search) -

If you try and lever it up with a crowbar the motor turns on and forces it back down again, so its proper secure.

Crisis over! I’ve manage to figure this out myself.
FYI for anyone else doing a reversing cam install:
    1. The Reverse trigger is not required to be tapped on UK cars. All the US FRS guides tend to tell you to run a cable down to tap into the pink reverse trigger cable in the footwell, but on the UK cars its already connected via an existing pin on the 28pin harness.
    2. Some online guides tell you to go into the ‘hidden menu’ on the TAS300 to enable the ‘camera’ option. But this hidden menu doesnt appear to be available on the models without nav. So i didnt do this,
    3. If you buy the Genuine Toyota ‘Fit’ kit off ebay, try and confirm beforehand that the version they are going to send you has the 16 pin connector and not the 24-pin connector like I was sent. The 24-pin connector only fits to the SatNav port and looking at the wiring diagram there doesn’t appear to be any pins on this connector that support video input. I can only assume this version of the cable they sent me is for the facelift 2017+ cars with the TAS400. So i had to dismantle the 24-pin harness they sent me and transfer across the two pins into the existing 16-pin connector I had in the back of the headunit already.
Now its all up and running beautifully.

The washers do need renewing after a few refills. I just OEM oil, it gets done at service.

Leeky reacted to Lauren in Noise cameras
The problem is they'd need an actual drive-by noise limit and I can't find any evidence that there is one anywhere. I'm actually all for restricting noise limits to a point, but it's how it is done and what the limits actually are that seems to lack definition.  There is little that is more annoying than overly loud car or bike. Bikes seem to be the worst offenders though.

Leeky reacted to Kaltorak in General FI questions - Rod strength and supercharger whine
The problem isnt as simple as at X BHP a rod will go.
I got speaking to Mike at TD, he was explaining it was more about peak cylinder pressure. This is something that Supercharging has an advantage over turbo as it increases in a linear fashion where a turbo nowadays can push to max boost early on in the rev range. As the car revs up the peak cylinder pressure naturally drops off.
The rods are also sintered which produces an irregular output hence why it is a lottery.

Leeky reacted to Adam9 in General FI questions - Rod strength and supercharger whine
I've seen a couple let go with no boost at all, its a total lottery. Some of the US cars are running 400+ bhp on stock rods and I think the TD dev car is currently running ~380bhp on a stock engine.

I think I saw somewhere that a one let go at less than ~280 bhp, and I forget whether it was a turbo or not, but at least there's a sticker for that:
    https://mightycarmods.com/collections/stickers/products/rodney-the-piston-sticker
Boost shortens the life of the engine unless it's designed for it or otherwise overengineered, so you shouldn't expect miracles, but supercharging at low boost is probably the least risky version of FI.

Leeky reacted to Kodename47 in Toyota advertising standard specification which is not fitted to their car
Auto hill-hold was advertised on the original models, but wasn't available or an option and it was a misprint. The car is good enough to overlook these kind of convenience features. As for the mirror, again I don't think this is even an option in the UK. That's why they wouldn't fit it. As for compensation, I think £150 is more that suitable for a feature that is not going to be a deal breaker.

    Hi
After having a new Kia Sportage 1.6 GT-S Line for the last year, I decided to change as I really wanted a GT86, so yesterday I purchased my dream (picking up next week), Red, rear parking sensors, Auto (i'm lazy now). Love at first site, gave it a long test drive, Motorway & normal roads, it was so responsive and a BIG grin was had😉.

But who says it’ll actually be called a Supra?
May have a totally different front, back, interior and name.
Dont forget, Supra was just a top spec Celica back in the day.
Most people hear the word “Supra” and instantly think Mk4. Where as I hear “Supra” and think of a mk2/3 Celica with a 6-cyl squeezed in.

    Correct. A40 Supra (mk1) was essentially the MK2 Celica with a lengthened nose with a 2.6 6-cylinder.
Same happened in the MK3 Celica. They put another 2.8 straight 6 in it and that was the MK2 Supra (A60). I had a MK2 and it was awesome. I put a 4.0 V8 1UZ in mine lol
A70 Supra Mk3 was the first non-celica based car. Then we has the Mk4 A80.
I’ve had 3x A80’s. One black NA Auto Aerotop, a white na manual and a red uk spec tt auto. Awesome cars. But total boats compared to the 86.
tbh the new Supra needs to be pretty special to make me trade in my 86 for. Im finding myself drawn more towards a used LC500.
Just thought of something. Supra is back, Corolla is back, Camry is coming back... would make total sense for them to continue this classic name revival and bring the Celica back too. After all, they re-registered the Celica name patent in 2017; so they must be planning to use it.
