Lauren reacted to Nicebiscuit in New GT86 review online
Why? Just curious, but I'd have thought B road driving impressions more relevant to the average prospective owner.
Track reviews are the scourge of the ordinary buyer. I had an Abarth 500 which got reasonable reviews in some quarters. Indeed on perfect track-like tarmac it was a good handling car and a lot of fun. Trouble is, on a bumpy road it completely fell apart, so the majority of the time it was hopeless. Hardly any of the reviews told me that.

The DC2 is incredibly sharp and point to point is just lightening fast. You have to remember the attention to detail is really quite astonishing on the DC2 with thinner windscreens, hand ported heads the like and many suspension revisions compared to the lesser Integra's. It's the type of detail you rarely see this side of a GT3RS.
It's a much sharper tool than a standard GT86. Though my car isn't standard, so I think it runs it very close and is really simply different than the DC2 but just as capable.

It was way, way better with a fully independent rear double wishbone suspension compared to the torsion beam of the FN2. Also LSD as standard and 220bhp. FD2 was the pure drivers car of the like we haven't seen since the DC2.
But it was never sold over here which makes it even more desirable.

Lauren got a reaction from Mike in Brake pad options
But even so, 17K is nothing for stock pads. I did nigh on 40K and there was still pad left.
Progressively increasing your braking force is the way to do it. Stamping on the brakes when you come to the corner is not the way to do it!

I had a DC2, absolutely amazing car.
The only car so far I've cried over when I sold it.
That engine, that amazing chassis, the LSD, the feel, it was just incredible. Best handling car I've had.
I may have another one day when I can build my collection.

The reality is, Keith that you won't make the 168mph or whatever it is geared to in 6th, which you will never get to of course, though the gearing in top is really all about comfortable cruising than balls out acceleration. It will have the effect of shortening the gearing so cruising on the motorway will push the revs up 400rpm at 70mph.
I'd like to see what it's like, but my penchant for lots of motorway miles and upcoming Euro trips puts me off a bit.

Good stuff, Jamie. Does look very low that though!

Lauren got a reaction from Omer86 in Choosing aftermarket wheels - advice wanted
If you're setup is square it won't mean anymore understeer. Minor changes in offset are not really going to be a factor.
More camber on the front to a point will help turn in and likewise on the rear. But you need new suspension as well then. Toe is also a factor, so it's a number of things, with Toe and Camber being the ones that affect it the most.

It's basically 10K miles or yearly whatever is sooner. The answer is it will be September or sooner once you have done 10K miles since the last service.
Sorry Nick. That's wrong!

19's are too big and will look silly as 19's tend to.
I think it's better to stick with 18's as otherwise you're just a GJOB'er. If the wheel isn't quite right choose the other one.

Lauren reacted to RichieK in New BRZ Owner
Hi all,
Just traded-in my Mini Cooper for a BRZ. Loving the BRZ, really well balanced car.
The Mini was my daily driver - I have an S1 for fun, which is now going up for sale.
I chose the BRZ to replace the Mini and Elsie as its fun and reasonably practicle - best of both worlds.
Are there many Scottish owners on this forum?

Miltek have apparently solved the issue with cracking by adding the flexi pipe and you do get the lifetime warranty anyway. Ask Chris at Tarmacsportz for more details.

Produced some pretty lovely engines too!
The Matra V12 produced the best sounding exhaust note of all time! Especially in the 670!
Found a cracking video and now I have it on repeat

Thanks for your replies. Square set up on the wheels it is.. Still want the looks though so was thinking possibly 9j all round then with 225 tyres to match the trd spec.. I really want to heep the handling characteristics as i mainly wanted this car as its a drivers car.. First mods planned when i actually get the car are wheels, tein coilovers and toms tail lights.
An to lauren, yes i was in imoc. Username was dansrev2turbo.. Thought i recognised your avatar..
Heres some pics of the old 2 which i still miss to this day, taken at wra2

To be fair the stock wheels look better painted, but your car is crying out for a decent set of wheels. It would just really finish it off.
Any idea what you might be looking to get?

Another great (and slightly over due) 40odd thousand mile service from Richard Mckay and his team at RRG Macclesfield Toyota and while they were at it, 2 new tyres (Yokohama Advan Sports) and the fitting of a nice big red brake kit (KSport 8 Pots, 330mm vented discs and braided lines). Some serious stopping power which is probably over kill for my car but they look the business and I'm sure they'll come in handy on track......just need to get the rears painted red
Seriously looking forward to getting back on track, I've not even properly pushed the car after having the coilovers fitted and now these big brakes, itching to see what the car can do. I've pushed the car around the twisty roads and it feels really good, solid and planted especially with the wider track from the spacers, makes the steering feel a lil more heavy but again feels more planted but I never really really push it on public roads so interested to see how it performs when I go all out on track.
To be fair I could have done without getting the brakes but it was a spur of the moment buy and a bit of a steal so can't really complain, they've been sat in the house for the past couple of months so thought it was time to get them fitted. On the drive back, the brakes felt good, they don't have the same initial bite like the Stoptech Pads on stock discs did but the Stoptechs sometimes felt like the car wouldn't stop after that initial bite. Where as the KSports feel a lot more progressive, so not as much bit initial bite but as you put your foot further down, you can feel the car progressively yet swiftly slow down. I've not tried using the brakes hard/slamming them yet as on the journey back, I still had the old calipers and stuff in the front passenger side as well as drinks bottles and what not so didn't want them going all over the place. I'll give it some tomorrow sometime but so far so good. Rich and myself did wonder if getting bigger brakes would end up adding more weight to the car and stuff and the box with the the KSport stuff in were pretty heavy, but when I tried to get the box back out with the stock stuff in, I was shocked at how much more heavier the stock kit is, so think I saved a bit of weight in the process which is a win.
All this work so soon after getting the car back has again set me back a fair bob but it's all progress and it satisfies the modding bug. I'm just eager to get a nice set of alloys like I have been meaning to for the past couple of years but the wait must continue as I have to start saving again but I'm glad that I can get back on it and do more stuff to the car without having to feel guilty about buying a lil mod when I should have in fact been saving to get her fixed. Especially when so many of you have helped me throughout the ordeal, the donations of parts, cash and even the time in looking for second hand parts for me, I felt like I had to get the car fixed not just for myself but to all of you who have helped me out. And on that note, as I can't thank you enough, I'll thank you all again for all the support and here's to the club and it's awesome community!

A 7.5" rim shouldn't really put much stretch at all on the tyre. Mine only had a bit, it wasn't extreme on an 8" rim.
