Have had my Harrow for over two years now and can,t rate it highly enough. Give the car really good linear power and makes it great to drive on the road. Mine was mapped at 252 bhp at the rear wheels. All done by Mark at Abbey.

After just 2 weeks of ownership, I can safely say this is the best car I have ever had...and I've had a few in my short 7 years of driving!

Picked her up with just 5,600miles on the clock and have already racked up nearly 800miles in just 2 weeks. Great fun getting around town and on twisty B roads, but also extremely comfortable and economical when I had to drive to Doncaster and back, over 450miles to 1 tank of fuel!

Few pictures of the day I got her:

And after a well deserved 3 hour TLC session today, love the colour in the sun!

Some big plans coming up, so watch this space! Whilst I won't ever tell what I'm getting until it's on the car (I like to be a bit different and therefore keeping you in suspense is more fun  ) my list of mods so far:

    Alloys (ordered)
    Track alloys
    Coilovers
Complete exhaust system from headers to backbox
    New rear lights
Front lip, side skirts and rear spats
    New boot spoiler
    Supercharged

I'll be using a colour scheme I had on my Audi A3 a few years back. Again, it's different but I'm sure you'll see why soon enough

Imho if thieves really will decide on it, no increased safety measures will prevent it. Mine is insured, so i decided against adding/using extra safeguards like those of signal blocker bags for keyless fobs or hidden custom killswitches in car or gps trackers. If it will get stolen i'll get insurance money, but won't have to deal with extra hassles those extra safeguards may bring. It's just as with wheel lock nuts. They probably won't fend of thieves, yet will bring inconvenience.

    It's fool-proof once you know -
    1. Push the side button marked 'push', pressing at the 'p' end.
    2. When the side button is depressed pull the part at the top with the hole for your keyring etc. This is actually the end of the hidden manual door key that allows you to unlock your door if the electrics (or battery) has failed.
    3. With the key out it reveals a small slot that the end of the key fits into.
    4. Twist the key and the key fob will come apart (you will also need to pull it to complete this).
    5. You can the access and change the battery.
    6. re-assembling is as simple as pushing to two fob halves together and reinserting the key (it will lock back into position itself).

I say this as it is always worth knowing how to do it and it is also worth keeping a spare battery in the car somewhere (it is a CR1632). That way if the battery for whatever reason failed when you were away from home you would be able to replace it to get yourself home and without an AA/RAC call out (although when the battery is going it will start to show red on the dash board light to indicate it needs a new battery).

I opened it to get the water out, only to find that there wasn't any, it isn't a case of pulling it apart, just opening it as you would to replace the battery, which coincidentally I'd done a couple of weeks earlier, it's quite a neat design all round actually, with the hidden key fitting the slot to open it.

It finally happened, the other day I left my key fob in a pair of jeans that went in the wash. Only found out when they came out following 2 1/2 hours on a 40 degree with fast spin and feared the worse. Amazingly when I took it apart there was not a drop of water/moisture/condensation inside it as nothing had penetrated the internal seals,  and after a quick dry of the outer case it worked perfectly. I'll try not to do it again, and my leather key fob will never be right again (even after lots of leather conditioner applied to it) but top marks to Toyota for the design!

Welcome. This car is built and tuned well from factory. So an airbox /induction filter will not give you any big gains and neither will a remap with no hardware change though both are possible. I will suggest hold fire on tuning, till you get a new manifold and get it done together.
Regarding exhausts, there is a lot of choice. Popular choices here are Cobra, Tuning Developments and Nvdia. Go for a resonated in case you decide to do the manifold later otherwise it will get loud.

Areet, just got me new red GT86, 65 reg 26k miles.
couple of mods in mind nowt major. ducktail spoiler, either induction or panel filter, probably tint windows and black roof.
Any recommendations on exhaust? And will a basic remap require any updating of any parts?
    Thanks in advance

Bit of an odd one this.

@willfmair and I got talking and he posted some videos of online reviews of the GT86 for a few years back. Now the car in the video has my registration but is red. Where as mine is Orange??

Any idea what Toyota do with their press cars? I went to the launch of the Honda FK2 civic type R a few years back and was told by the guys there that the initial press cars are scrapped after they have served their purpose. Is this the same with Toyota and they have just applied the same reg to another car afterwards?
Car came to me via a Toyota dealership and I even did my own HPI etc and it all came back as complete and it been orange....

Ah yer there she is  what a slut deffo gets around!
Although has that video got a weird filter on as it's the wrong colour???

So the season has come to an end, on a personal note it's great to have won both the TSS N1 pro championship and the fastest NA car too. Also the JSS J10 championship as well. I would like to thank Tuning Developments for making my car as quick as it can be
A big thanks to series sponsors especially RRG for supporting us all  without them and Javelin running the events it wouldn't be the Series we all have come to love.
Lots of behind the scenes help so more thanks to all involved, and of course the competitors of which many are friends and very good drivers too.
See you all next year !!

    Hi Everyone,
Picking up my first 86 on Sunday. Fell in love with the cars as soon as I saw them but had to wait till now to actually own one. Its a 67 plate club series in the subtle orange colour. Seems to be a good community on here - I've been lurking for a while now.
Car will remain standards for a while, mainly due to the warranty and the fact that I've had company cars for years so insurance is not so great at the moment.. But eventually I do hope to spend some money and get the thing turbo'd.
For now I just want to drive and enjoy it... Roll on Sunday!

I HATED IT well actually  TOYOTA really, that's exactly how the car should come from the factory !! To say the car drives different is an understatement it is a major transformation. Any further 86's coming my way will get the same treatment for sure.

I've had this installed for around 2 weeks now. I opted for the EL setup for the small performance advantage it gives over UEL (I think 2-3 hp)
The car feels fantastic! It pulls harder throughout  the entire rev range, the torque dip has been completely eliminated and the car is simply more enjoyable to drive. You no longer feel like you're forced to change down to 2nd coming off a roundabout or overtaking . 3rd pulls like 2nd used to pull on the stock car once you got over the now non existent torque dip.  Also love the throttle response from the tune, makes heal toeing a breeze.
Coming from a guy who likes a loud exhaust.... Unless you like very LOUD! I would suggest you have a resonated exhaust system with this or any catless manifold. I quickly swapped my Cobra non-res for the resonated mid section. It brought the "scary loud" volume down to a nice deep burble when cruising through towns/villages but still has an aggressive growl WOT.
I plan on upgrading to TD's turbo kit in the not too distant future (which is compatible). But until then, this package will keep me satisfied.

    Hello all,

We've decided to put together a package for those wanting to release more power from their GT86 or BRZ, without going for forced induction
    The kit contains the following:

    'Before' Dyno Run
Tuning Developments Manifold (EL or UEL)
    Tuning Developments Overpipe
    Gaskets
    Heat Wrap For 'Downpipe' Section
K&N 'Drop In' Replacement Panel Filter
    Installation
    ECUTeK License
In House Remap On The Dyno

    £1495.00 inc VAT

    Website link here

This package has been proven to remove the torque dip which plagues these cars, along with making more peak power. The whole curve is stronger, making the driving experience much more enjoyable! The ECUTeK Remap features the excellent RaceROM which gives you 4 switchable maps via the cruise control stalk which can be adjusted whilst on the fly. For those without cruise control we can set this up via the heated rear window button. Net gains are upto 30lb.ft through the mid range and upto 25bhp peak power (based against a 100% factory car).

You do not have to have an aftermarket exhaust, this is completely optional. The second CAT can also stay in place if needed. This gives an end result of a car that when cruising, sounds very close to OE sound levels, and has a pleasant bark to it when pressing on through the gears. The gains in torque make it much nicer to drive and give a far more linear delivery.

The top dyno graph has the factory second CAT and factory exhaust.
The lower dyno graph has a high flow second CAT and an aftermarket exhaust.

Above - TD EL Manifold, Full Exhaust & In House ECUTeK Tune (Didn't photo the overlay from before sorry!)

Above - Exhaust & ECUTeK Tune - Versus TD UEL Manifold & In House ECUTeK Tune.

Above - Exhaust & Stock Tune - Versus TD EL Manifold & In house ECUTeK Tune.

Gives a lovely bark when pushing on yet subtle when cruising.

Throughly endorsing Mike and his team . She is now a much nicer drive, more so than I expected, much more ompf, wanting to do more and letting you know the power is there, more so than before . No radio, window down to hear the new sound, just perfect, not loud but has a lovely growl. He also fitted an MTEC shifter spring kit while she was being done, so much sharper gear changes. Couldn’t be happier. Thanks again guys

Amazing value Mike, this should be a no brainer for anyone.
I spent around the same money buying similar parts, except I had the hassle of importing parts from the US and having the manifold fitted by a non-GT86 specialist, so this is a truly great price.
If only you had this available when I bought my car.
