Booboo 11 Report post Posted March 26, 2021 My battery on my MY17 BRZ has finally given up. and as I understand most folks uprate the battery when replacing is it to a 60ah or 65ah? Sadly neither the RAC chap who came out to assist me or my local Halfords have any compatable ones to offer me. Due to the reversed terminals I suspect🙄 Where have owners found the best place to purchase a quality replacement?
Leeky 84 Report post Posted March 26, 2021 Im using a SuperBatt 072 80ah 650cca You can find them on ebay for £65 and they are pretty much the most powerful battery you can find that fits in the standard 86 battery tray. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SB-072-031-069-Heavy-Duty-Car-Van-SUV-Battery-TOYOTA-LANDROVER-MITSUBISHI-/193262633319?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 1 Booboo reacted to this
BRZ-123 174 Report post Posted March 26, 2021 The above by@Leeky seems the best deal. Otherwise you can go to tayna.co.uk and the 2 big brand choices I can suggest are Yuasa YBX3031, 3000, 72Ah, 630A , 18.4 Kg, dimensions 26.0*17.4*22.5 (£74.97 delivered)Varta 70Ah, 630A, E24DIN570 413 063 , dimension 26.1 cm * 17.5 * 22 ( to top of terminal) (£65.89)The prices may not be accurate as i noted it a while ago. will300 812 Report post Posted March 29, 2021 I'm also running a Yuasa YBX3014. Although it's still not perfect and I've had to jump the car a couple of times during lockdown. However my battery is probably 3 or 4 years old now. I'll be making the switch to Lithium when the current one dies, although they are expensive.
Booboo 11 Report post Posted March 30, 2021 Thanks guys Halfords did recommend the Yuasa YBX3014 60Ah but don’t stock it After a bit of digging, I ended up getting a Bosch S4025 from Tayna as it was discounted
McDude 40 Report post Posted March 30, 2021 Bosch batteries are good. I do recommend a battery conditioner/charger if you aren't using it much during lockdown and/or short trips only. I've got a CTEK conditioner which has recovered my battery and kept me going the past year. It comes with nice little tails so you can integrate it with your vehicle wiring so you end up with a nice little connector plug under the bonnet which makes it super easy to use. MartinT 514 Report post Posted March 30, 2021 I'll second the CTEK recommendation, it's very good for restoring battery performance. Fitting the connector to the battery makes charging very easy.

Thanks so much for recommending this battery for my 2017 GT86, which I bought to replace my OEM larger 65ohm Toyota one that was at least 3-4 years old. Plus Toyota said had 61% health. Had the Yuasa about a month or two and volts also seem to read higher and car starts immediately. Love that it has roll over protection and a switch that flicks when it needs to be changed.
