The Four bolts that hold the subframe to the car are 145Nm, the repair manual also says a new bolt should be used.

The two bolts on each side that hold the brace on the front in place are 70Nm, bolts can be reused

    Hope that helps mate

Man it is stupidly hard to get a good picture of the car with the wheels on probably doesn't help that the iPhone camera doesn't like the contrast between the white and the colour... A couple of pics from YMS (neither took by me, just found them on facebook.

Right so about time I closed off stage one of my mods, finally got round to taking some pictures of it after a clean tonight. Shame the sun wasn't properly out to get the true colour of the wheels.

Stage two will hopefully kick off soon, Remap by Fensport asap and a big brake kit; AP initially although at the moment I am getting more and more tempted by the Subaru Impreza Brembo conversion

You shouldn't have any issue with losing the key, will take a fair bit of effort to get it out.

The bolt will be tricky, ours are tightened up to 210Nm on the ZR engine (may be slightly less as the torsional vibration on the crank is less on the FA20), a rather heafty air impactor is used to remove them if needed. I would expect a rather long bar will be needed

Cheers Mark, how you finding the BC's on yours? I have the dampers on fairly soft atm and loving it, can't wait to get it on the track and turn them up a fair whack

Cheers, yeah it is very low, may have to be raised a little bit though so the new wheels will clear without rubbing, need to wait and see about that

Been back and collected the car tonight, without the wheels though, the centre bore needs machining to accomodate the larger impreza diameter over the celica one, no issues though jsut the engineer has decided to become ill, how thoughtful Hopefully I will have them before Friday and the meet at TMUK, but probably not unfortunately

Settling into its new home for the weekend on Friday (forgot I had these)

Had to put it on blocks just to get the lift under

    BC's vs Standard

Looks so sad with no wheels

Shiney Shiney... Single exit exhaust with a nice subtle tip on it.... can see the pipework through the other exhaust hole so I may polish it and leave it uncovered

Stainless flexi has been added in, I know the standard system doesn't have it but better to have and not need than need and not have

What it all sounds like (sorry for the crap video), exactly what I wanted and peaks at 98db at 4.5k as asked so I can still make the use of the majority of trackdays

Yup, shes low, Can't wait for the wheels to be added, will sit 18mm ish further out to nicely fill the arches

A few from when I got back to my flat

Cut the rear panels just enough to allow access to the damping adjustment, its in there somewhere

Finally the first time I'd actually seen the colour of the wheels in the light, I collected them last November in the dark after work and they have lived on my floor out of direct sunlight (They're dusty and my iPhone appears to have ruined the pearl effect on them but you get the idea).

Anyway first thoughts on driving the car with everything fitted is that it has turned what I already thought was brilliant little car into an epic one, removed all the compromise I had noticed as planned, just need to make a few tweeks to the alignment when the wheels are added then work on some damping settings for daily/fast road/track.

    Here's mine

Hmmm why I should be picked is a tricky one... The car is mildly modded to be my perfect daily that I can hammer around track on a weekend yet still comfortable for drive home. The car has been built on a reasonable budget showing that it doesn't take a fortune to build your perfect vehicle to get from A to B and everywhere in between.

Plus it has a single exit exhaust, bright blue wheels, STi gurney flap repping the Subaru aspect and it would massively help break up my 5 hour drive to the hotel for the TSS the following day

    Why I should be selected:-

    I'm Batman.

So I've just got back from day one of the modifications being done, only took one picture as I was busy getting my hands dirty

So all is done apart from the exhaust and alignment now (decided to leave it on the lift so the exhaust could be done without having to shuffle everything round), I will hopefully be collecting either Monday or Tuesday evening depending on work.

Drop on the BC's is looking to be around 40 ~ 45mm but keeping the standard rake.

I was going to upload the image I took of the wheels as its the first time I've actually seen them in proper sunlight Had them since November and I picked them up in the dark, since then they lived on my floor I'm going to wait to upload though until it's finished for the full effect

The colour is exactly how I wanted it, I like the fact they look black unless there in the correct light, adds a bit more intrigue, especially when people don't realise the colour at first. At the moment with the weather there purple all the time though

Hoping someone has a decent camera at the detailing day to get some proper pics

The wheels are 7.5" Lauren, but they have seemed to have stretched the tyre a lot, I have noticed abit of extra stiffness in the ride from it, I turned the dampers down from 10 to 7 and all is fine for the road

Absolutely loving the handling on it at the moment, plenty of grip and the back end will still come out if poked... Can't recommend the white line bump steer and roll centre correction kit enough, as I've dropped it a fair amount (best part of 50mm I think) it was well worth going for it I feel as the front end steering wise feels completely stock and that was the one thing I didn't want to change

Haven't got around to sorting the blanking plate out yet, I refuse to pay more for delivery than the part from ft86speedfactory. Will probably go down the route of making one myself... or if I feel I need more control over the rear settings and get the pretty looking adjustible arms I'll just remove the black "diffuser" section completely

I'm not sure whether it'll be ready, it depends how the exhaust goes tomorrow, but as I've got the overpipe already which looks to be the most complex part for fabricating then I can hope it's all done in a day, if not I'll be collecting next Friday afternoon after the tour...

Sprints are an almost definite Rob, hopefully get a couple in at the back end of the year, need to save abit first

    Stephen It's about time...

The wheels are 17x7.5 et35 Lauren, about the same weight as the standard wheels

Right thought I'd start my first ever project thread as it's D-Day tomorrow for my 86.

Although I find the car very capable, I still think it's a little bit of a compromise meant to cater for various different types of people, I wish to remove this compromise to make it my own This is what this car is supposed to be all about right?

So everyones seen a white gt86 before but I love how shiney this picture is:

Now the list of mods to be fitted:
    Pearl purple Compomotive MO5's
BC Coilovers with 5kg Front & Rear spring rates
Whiteline roll centre & bump steer correction
    Whiteline positive shift kit
    Superpro rear subframe inserts
    Superpro rear camber control bushes
    Cobra overpipe
    Custom 2.5" single exit exhaust
Samco intake pipe with generator delete
    K&N panel filter

Thanks to Fensport for the majority of bits, Toyokid for the coilovers and some guy from the other side for the overpipe.

How they have spent the last 5months in my living room:

    All loaded up:

Unfortunately I don't have the capability at my flat to make all the modifications myself so the car is booked in at a GT4 specialists in Blackburn where he'll be completing the exhaust whilst I get to do the majority of the other work, can not wait, it's been far too long since I've got my hands dirty messing with cars, brand new engines just don't cut it

I shall try take as many pictures as possible, but the majority will be "after" images I presume.

Ohhh will I be the first in the UK with a single exit exhaust bar the Fensport GT86R? haven't seen any others over here

Japan Parts is a dangerous place to go browsing

I got my STi rear lip from there, will definitely be using them again in the future as well...

You'll have to let me have a go once the final drive is fitted, its something I'm tempted by

Sorry for the resurrection of an old thread I'm sure there was a newer one but I can't find it anywhere (maybe tied in with someones project/mods thread  )

Just thought I would close this issue off for people looking in the future:

There is a TSB for the squeaking brakes (front only) issued on the 16/02/2015 that instructs the dealer to replace with new pads. The new pads will use a different friction material which has a lower coefficient of friction so if you can't stand the squeal you will lose some braking performance (you should be told this by the dealer before they replace them).

There, apparently, will be no change to production so new cars will still have the original pads, so if you are replacing due to wear you should still also get the old pads.

This fix is covered by warranty.

Hmmm I'm hammered so not sure if Ive understood correctly, but looking at the entry list I'm the only one that hasn't put the DC as a team that is unsponsored and the like...

Lauren is down as RRG because Gary couldn't get his car finished/make it in assuming as he's off the list now...

8quid isn't expensive to get the name about at all and I'm more than happy to pay for it.

I don't think the TSS side of the Club should take money out of the rest as there is 20 of us(approx) that compete out of the membership.

Those that compete should be happy (I know I am) with paying the extra to keep and promote the support this club gets...
