Have done the man maths and justified a catback while I am there. Kind of makes sense as it's a 5 - 6 hour round trip for me depending on traffic. Insurance informed (Adrian Flux), no change in premium as I took out a modified policy when I got the 86.

Had an amazing day at Anglesey on Monday. It's the first time I've been but I'd definitely like to go back. I spent the majority of the day trying to get my head around the correct lines and even by the end there were still several corners I wasnt entirely sure about.
Here's a video from my second session of the day:-
    Plenty of room for improvement!
A couple of photos from the day too. I was the only 86 there which seems to be quite rare on most trackdays now.

All the best. Just 2 more days to go. Put your dyno chart up and am sure you will love the drive back home.

The new JDL 4-2-1 also looks good, not sure how it compares getting one into the UK price wise but will be up there with the ACE/Rogue ones I reckon.

Booked in for Thursday. Looking forward to it. Never had car mapped before, let alone stuck on a dyno!

This is the screen removed in case you have to leave the car somewhere and don't want it on display.

    Thank you.
It needs a wiring loom adaptor, an adaptor to keep the USB working by the stop/start button, an aerial adaptor and I bought a fitting kit of brackets and surround. All in it came out as about £315. With the focal too you're looking at about £450.
The stereo also comes with a dash cam and reversing cam that you can plug into it too but I haven't fitted those at the moment.

I did a trackday at Blyton Park yesterday. Despite the weather forcast (and the weather most of the country seemed to get) Blyton wasn't too bad. It rained on and off throughout the day making the track quite greasy even when it dried out from the fairly strong winds.
It was really nice to meet up with Michael and Andrew and their respective 86's too.
A video of one of the sessions I did comprising a couple of warm up laps, a few normal laps and a cool down.
There was a nice mix of cars in attendance so a good mixture of cars to chase, overtake or be overtaken by and driving standards were generally very good which was nice.

Hello all, picked up a lovely 14 plate gt86 in metallic black yesterday. I traded in a 05 350z for it and while i miss the sheer torque and noise of the z i just love the handling, comfort and pure joy of driving this, especially in all the rain and thunderstorms this afternoon......Z wot Z?!?Great forum by the way, been reading all week while waiting to get car.  Cheers Pete

I tend to watch this Tyre Reviews channel:
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEvB1bmKjPWZ3V1wSdBnXPQ
Does real world tests for various tyres and gives honest opinions. Quite often the tests are done on RWD cars and not FWD hot hatches, this does make a difference.

The new copy of Evo arrived through the post today and they have their annual tyre test. The test size was 225/40/18 and the test car a Golf GTi. The test was carried out at Pirelli's test track.
Possibly unsurprisingly (depending how cynical you are) Pirelli's P-Zero Came first. The Michelin PS4 came second and Continental Premium Contact 6 came third.
The interesting bit was right at the end of the article though. They also tested the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 but didn't include it officially in the test as it was supplied to them by Maxxis as they couldn't purchase them from the UK wholesale market (not really sure why as a quick look on tyre reviews suggests they're easily available 🤷‍♂️). The Maxxis took part in all the same tests as the others and would have been the overall winner had it been officially included. They commented that it 'has great feel and performs very well in the wet and the dry', it was the cheapest tyre they tested and was 'top in some tests, near the top in most and scored well subjectively'.
May be a good option to try, especially for those who maybe don't want to spend the money for the PS4's which most of us use and is generally regarded as about the best normal road tyre for this platform.

I went to ProTyre this morning and they said that the 'faulty' TPMS sensor had a random code in it and had clearly not been cloned properly.
They apologised, programmed the code in and my TPMS light has remained off.  Carista confirms that all four codes are present and correct.  Sorted!

Thanks guys yes i found out it is a 1632 and opening up the key fob is amazingly easy once I found the right video online. Top tip on getting spares as I'm sure my second fob will follow shortly.
I still need to find a battery but for anyone wondering on how to remove the battery. Press in the bottom on the side of the fob to release the manual key from the fob. Pull out the manual key. WIth the tip of the manual key insert it into the recess in the fob and twist to split the fob in half. You then have to release the circuit board gently to uncover batter on the other side.

Been a busy few weeks. A short while ago I did a lovely 2 minute mod, getting rid of the plastic dash panel and slipping in something altogether more bovine

This week the first job was to collect a rental whilst the BRZ is in the shop. Free upgrade to a C Class as well, thank you Enterprise.

Rather enjoyed the change of pace, I can see the attraction of wafting on the highway; as it gets harder and harder to enjoy the roads through a combination of road surfaces and traffic. It was pretty quick and deathly silent compared to the BRZ, didn't really get on with the 9 gears, it was never in the right one - but I wouldn't mind trying a non-oil burner, with 2-4 more cylinders though.
Anyway, the reason for the rental car was to drop off the BRZ, for these little beauties to be fitted. AP BBK for the front end. Thanks to Reyland for supplying the kit. All went on smooth as butter.

Much like the fairer sex, it seemed rude not to tend to her undercarriage whilst she was on top (of the ramp).

Looks rather fetching all buffed up, if I do say so myself.
As for the back end, as per my other thread, I just wanted these to match the fronts, rather than perform better. So I sent off some OEM rears to be refurbished and painted at Godspeed. Sadly, the courier was a day late returning the finished items, which isn't a huge deal, unless you've already handed back your rental car and find yourself carless, miles from home - d'oh!
Helpfully, my mate, who is also my mechanic, happened to have his own DC5 around, so I got the loan of that for the weekend.

As you can imagine, not only was I relieved to have a car to get home, I was very excited to drive a 'Teg. I've not driven VTEC (yo!) before and the DC5 is a fairly well regarded vehicle in JDM folklore, to say the least. It certainly did not disapoint. So much fun. Ooooodles of grip, that addictive burst as the revs surge and as pretty as you like - if I didn't have a lightweight sports coupe, I'd be VERY tempted to go to the dark side of FWD for one of these.
Anyway, the rear callipers arrived today, looked sweet and went straight on. Huge thanks to @will300 who very generously, not to mention trustingly, lent me his OEM rears to go away and be refurbished and painted, so as to cut the time my BRZ was off the road. Top bloke, I'm very grateful for your help, not just with the callipers but info and advice too - callipers coming your way in tomorrow's post.

All in all, a pleasing bit of work all around. A nice blend of form and function.

    <sheepish mode on>
This evening I thought I'd check the tyre pressures, still puzzling over the system working for a while and then erroring.  I thought maybe one tyre was too low.  It turned out that ProTyre had pumped them up way too high - three were at 2.55 and one was 2.6 bar!  I dropped them all down to 2.4, reset the TPMS system again and the light has gone out.  I hadn't realised that they also warned on over-pressure!
I'll see on my motorway commute tomorrow but I may have cracked it.

    1. Insurance is not needed as unlike track days, you are all alone driving it. Cant give away everything but rest assured I was like you before, safe than sorry.
    2. Tyres- Primacy 3 is technically the replacement for HP, so not hugely different, just a bit better. When you have a tyre go ( puncture/ sidewall) and have no spare wheel in boot, such choices need to be made based on instant availability in that tyre shop/ roadside assistance.
Good news that across the axle your tyres have same wear as with an LSD it is particularly key for the rears. Overinflate tyres to 45 psi when there to not damage your sidewalls and you will lose about 1.5 mm tread on the day. Definitely don't go with brand new tyres. Hope this helps.

Sorry guys/gals, I have a couple of questions
    - I know VAD told me it's not necessary, but did any of you buy insurance for this event?
    - I would like some advice on tyres - I only have had this car for a couple of months and it came with the original (circa 2015!) primacy tyres in the front and rear, but someone has replaced only one tyre at the front right - a primacy 3 instead of primacy HP.. I measure the depths and it was ~4mm at the rears and 6-7mm at the fronts.
I was thinking of replacing all 4 with Yoko V105s, but wasn't sure if i should do it before or after the event.. I'm just afraid if i change it before the event I might damage my brand new-ish tyres..
    Thanks

To reiterate Spikyone's statement, the old readings were as per NEDC and hence higher. The new readings are as per WLTP and when it was launched the road tax slabs were also changed to reflect new CO2 calculations. I think WLTP was implemented in Sept 2017 and all manufacturers had to comply and universally MPG went down. Some websites still have the old NEDC values while others have WLTP.

I was up at 45 when I did it and was a good thing. You spin off a few times and one of the side effects was that I blew my hose off the idle air valve and the car started stalling and could not idle. If any of you get into this situation, it's a quick fix. Remove the engine plastic cover and you will see a dislodged rubber hose. Connect that back in and put the cover on.
