Was talking to someone yesterday about the rear lens condensation issue and I mention I'd seen a TSB somewhere.

It was on the US FT86 forum here

    http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21868

It has links to pdf versions of the TSBs, which include how to check if you have the issue and how to fix it.

So if you think you have one of these issues worth downloading and printing it out before going down to your dealer

    Teams

    The Fujiwaras

    Takumi and his Dad

    Akina Speedstars

The Akina SpeedStars (秋名スピードスターズ, Akina Supidosutazu) is a team made up from a bunch of friends who like to race in their leisure time. Based in Gunma, their home course is Akina. Named after a Japanese brand of wheel, they are among the weakest teams in the series, not having proper training and using erroneous techniques. In manga version, it is called "Spirit" as seen on the sticker on Iketani's car.

    Akagi RedSuns (Stage 1)

The Akagi RedSuns (赤城レッドサンズ, Akagi Reddosanzu) is a highly skilled team led by Ryosuke Takahashi. The RedSuns' team policy is not to race on their home course, because, according to Keisuke, they "can't get excited about it". Based in Gunma, their home course is Mt.Akagi.

    Myogi NightKids (Stage 1)

The Myogi NightKids (妙義ナイトキッズ Myōgi Naitokizzu) is a team of average skill led by Takeshi Nakazato. Even though the team is united under Takeshi, there seems to be two factions fighting for leadership, aligned with Takeshi and the team's number two driver, Shingo Shoji. Based in Gunma, their home course is Myogi. Shingo and Takeshi both show aggressive driving styles, hence why both their races with Akina's Eight-Six ended in a crash. In Extra Stage, They were challening Usui's Impact Blue and have both lost a race.

    Impact Blue (Stage 1)

Impact Blue (インパクトブルー Inpakuto Burū) is a partnership between its two members, Mako and Sayuki. Their home course is Usui. It is revealed that Impact Blue is disbanded in Extra Stage 2 due to Mako leaving for Tokyo to race there for a year.

    Emperor (Stage 2)

Emperor (エンペラー Enperā) is a highly skilled team led by Kyoichi Sudo. The entire team is made of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions, claiming their cars are the king of the mountains. Based in Tochigi, their home course is the one-way road of Irohazaka . Mitsuru Sudo is Kyoichi little brother and ask to be train by Takumi to drive in a two-way road and he became the best in Irohazaka but he lets Kyoichi the leader of Emperor.

    Seven Star Leaf (Stage 4)

Seven Star Leaf (セブンスターリーフ Sebun Sutā Rīfu, "SSR") is an average skilled team, and the first team to face Project D in 4th Stage, there are previous Project D victories mentioned prior to the start of 4th Stage. Based in Tochigi, their home course is the Nichien-Momiji line. Like the Akina Speed Stars, they are named after the same Japanese wheel manufacturer (Speed Star Racing).

    Todo School (Stage 4)

The Todo School (東堂塾 Tōdō Juku) is a racing school run by a performance shop owner/ex-rally driver named Todo. They are very highly skilled, with many of their graduates going semi-pro/professional. Interestingly, they prefer FWD cars, particularly Hondas, using the Civic Type R as their best "demonstration" car. Based in Yaita, Tochigi, their home course is the Enna Skyline or Happogahara.

The Todo School exclusively use parts from Spoon Sports to modify their cars.

    Northen Saitama Alliance (Stage 4)

The Northern Saitama Alliance (埼玉北西エリア連合チーム, Saitama Hokusei Eria Rengō Chīmu, lit. "Saitama Northwest Area Union Team") is a racing group made of teams located in the Saitama Prefecture. Included in this alliance, is the team that Nobuhiko Akiyama and Kyoko Iwase are on, which remains unnamed, and also includes Wataru Akiyama. They joined together to meet the challenge they knew would be coming from Project D. Nobuhiko is the leader of the Alliance. The Alliance faces Project D twice, on two different courses, the first one being Sadamine. The Alliance throws the first downhill race against Project D so that Nobuhiko can gather enough information on Takumi to defeat him during the second set of races. Nobuhiko recruits Sakamoto for the job of defeating Takumi and all of the Alliance members (except Kyoko) chip in to purchase a Suzuki Cappuccino for Sakamoto to use in the race.

Tsuchisaka Lan Evo Team (Stage 4)

A couple of Baduns in Lan EVos

    Purple Shadow (Stage 4)

Purple Shadow (パープルシャドウ, Pāpuru Shadō) is a two-man team consisting of Toshiya "God Arm" Joshima and Kozo "God Foot" Hoshino, both of whom are legendary around those parts. Based in Ibaraki, they drive on a course on Mount Tsukuba called the "Fruits Line".

    Team 246 (Stage 5)

Team 246 (チーム246(ツーフォーシックス) Chīmu Tsū Fō Shikksu), also known as "The 246ers", is a team based in the Kanagawa Prefecture. Racing in Yabitsu , they are direct rivals to Team Sidewinder, another team located in the Shizuoka Prefecture. According to Bunta and Ryosuke, Shizuoka is the center of street (drift) racing, notable for its mountainous regions (Mount Fuji is located there) as well as the Fuji Speedway. Therefore, Shizuoka attracts many racers, amateur and professionals alike.

Team 246 has many members, where representatives for a race are voted by its 31 members. The representative who will race against Keisuke on the uphill: Kobayakawa received 26 out of 31 votes, and races with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (which Fumihiro has made fun of, as Keisuke is an emerging FD Evo Killer). Takumi will race against 246's leader: Omiya, who unanimously received 31 votes to represent Team 246 on the downhill. He will be driving a heavily modified Mazda Roadster.

Racing Team Katagiri Street Version (Stage 5)

Racing Team Katagiri Street Version (レーシングチームカタギリ ストリート バージョン, Rēshingu Chīmu Katagiri Sutorīto Bājon, often called R.T. Katagiri S.V.) are the Second Line in Kanagawa's "Four Lines of Defense". Their home course is Nagao, in Hakone. The team was named after the real professional racing team, Katagiri.

    Team Spiral (Stage 5)

Based at Hakone Nanamagari, Team Spiral (チーム・スパイラル, Chīmu Supairaru) is the 3rd line in the "4 lines of defense" strategy formulated by team Sidewinder. Their philosophy is tuning a car to bring out its full potential to fit the characteristics and skills of the driver through heavy modification, which is often misconceived as simply buying the most expensive parts. Unlike R.T. Katagiri, the members of Team Spiral have no professional racing background and have acquired their near professional level skills from racing in the streets. The ranks of Team Spiral are unusual in the fact that Ikeda, while being team leader, is not considered the number 1 driver.

    Sidewinder (Stage 5)

Sidewinder (サイドワインダー Saidowaindā) is a highly skilled team that organized the "4 lines of defense". Their home course is the Tsubaki Line, but the nearby Toyo Turnpike may be a part of their home territory (Ryosuke's battle with Rin Hojo was raced there). There are many rumors that they might be the "fourth line" or the last team in Kanagawa that Project D will compete with. In the storyline, this team is trying to analyze Project D's weaknesses. They collect information by watching Project D during their practices and races.

keelerad got a reaction from Andrew Smith in Torque App with Blue Tooth OBDII adaptor
    See also youtube vids
As I have just got a new phone and new adpator and had to configure it again, I thought I'd add a thread on here for the benefit of others

    The Torque App

Its an app (http://torque-bhp.com/) that can be run on an Android device to monitor the vehicles ECU using a blue tooth adaptor plugged into the ODBII port (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-board_diagnostics#OBD-II)

The torque app lets you monitor various data points that the ECU uses and can also display (and if you purchase the paid for version, reset) vehicle fault codes

The torque app will also use your devices GPS and accelorometers to allow speed and G to be measured and it can log data against GPS location, producing a map that overlays on Google maps of your speed or oil temp on a journey.

    The adaptor

This plugs into the ODBII port provided by manufacturers for monitoring the ECU and makes data available to another device via bluetooth. This can be anything the ECU monitors examples include rpm, coolant temp, oil temp, inlet temp, air fuel ratio etc. The one you want is an ELM327 one.

They come in various shapes but with where its situated on the '86 you either want a short one or some sort of extension or its likely to hit your left leg when driving

The one I got was this one from fleabay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231164930452?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) you can get cheaper ones but the £8 one I bought last time stopped working after about 6 months so I thought I'd risk a bit more this time

    Plug in the adaptor

You can find the connector for it under the dash, look above where your left knee would be when seated and you should find it. Note the connector is shaped so you have to get it the right way round

Pair the ODBII device to your Android device

Power on your car to power up the dongle, I did it with the engine running so I knew it would have power. Go into your device settings and make sure bluetooth is on and search for new devices

Mine appeared at first as a HEX address a bit like a MAC address ie AA:11:22:33:44:DD but then updated to appear with the name OBDII

Select the device and it should ask you enter a pairing code, for mine this was 1234, some use 0000, check with your supplier if neither work

    Start Torque

When you start Torque it will ask you to choose the bluetooth device, select the adaptor you paired above.

If you then select Realtime information the Torque App will start displaying data received from your car, rpm is the obvious one to check, press the go pedal and watch it rise !

You can configure the display to change what is shown, you can also modify what data is logged on a journey

There is also some point where it asks for setting up a profile for your car, it does this when you first use it but as mine is already setup I can't remember what it asked.

To reconfigure the display press and hold on any of the dials to get a menu that lets you delete, move, resize, change dial type

To add a new display press and hold on an empty area of the screen and you get a add menu

    Oil Temperature

Although Oil Temperature is a normal ODBII PID our car doesn't use the standard one, it uses a bespoke one instead.

The Torque App can be configured to monitor this custom PID as follows

Open the Torque app and then hit the menu button.

Select "Manage extra PIDs/Sensors" (should be second from the bottom).

Hit the menu key again and select "Add custom PID".

    Enter the following information

    OBD2 Mode and PID: 2101
    Minimum Value: -40
    Maximum Value: 215
    Scale factor: x1
    Unit type: C
    Equation: AC-40
    OBD Header: 7E0
Hit ok. The oil temp parameter will now be available for logging and real time display.

The aluminium extrusion was all brought from a company in Leicester who for a lil extra would cut all the bits to the correct lengths but the brackets from them would have been extortionate so I ended up ordering them from China which took a while but were mega cheap compared to the UK. The extrusion on the other hand would have been mega expensive from China primarily due to the weight and size of the stuff.

Here are all the 30x30 extrusions that I brought all laid out.

The various 30x30 and 30x60 brackets from China along with a boat load of cap screws and t nuts.

Some interior L brackets that will need modifying so I can use them to help support the small plate for the steering to sit on, this plate can either lift up and be flush with the rest of the table for everyday/keyboard use or they can hold the plate at a set angle for the steering wheel to mount to and face in the correct direction to me.

After a lot of modifying of brackets, the corner brackets all had extra bits sticking out of the flat faces (which you might just make out on the brackets to the right) to prevent the brackets from twisting but because I need to rotate most of these 90deg or whatever funny degrees I needed, I had to sand down these knobbly bits.

Once all the components had arrived, I then eagerly start to put her together starting with the seat frame first.

    80% of the seat complete

Mock test of the seat mounting to the seat frame.

Parts for the front frame all laid out on the floor.

Sadly, due to my own incompetence, I took the dimensions of the brackets and extrusions from a different source which meant that some things arrived bigger than I originally anticipated, so I had to rejig some bits to fit together and luckily I was allowed to take a load of unwanted bolts from work that were long enough for the bigger parts.

Part way through, I also modified the racing pedals by literally swapping the clutch and accelerator pedals around so when you flip the pedals upside down, they were in the correct order.

Another issue I came across was when I had some 12mm thick MDF brought and cut from B&Q, the guy at B&Q missed out a panel of MDF that I the drawings for which was even handed to him.....he just ignored it or completely forgot....and because he had the drawings I forgot too so again, I had to rejig some of them too but it all eventually came together.

The only thing that remains to be done is the arm rests which I have the pieces for and the foam but I just need some fabric and staples to put everything together. But I've been using it so far and it is glorious!!! Many people will not understand why, some will but think I'm crazy, but I'm sure there will be those who geek out at stuff like this either way, it's all about the journey. Being able to design something and actually create it is always a great feeling, it's just a bonus that it's a racing simulator that I use to play Project Cars and Dirt Rally with! Hope you enjoyed the story!!!
