I think good tyres would make even more difference on a flowing track like Donington or Cadwell, Bedford is a bit of a power circuit. That said when Steve took me out in his HKS supercharged car it was only 8 mph faster on the long straight.
The extra torque will give you more options on gear selection though.

People dont beleive me when I say that the supercharger doesnt reduce lap time by that much at all. Even at Bedford I don't think it more than 3 seconds.

You spend far more time braking and cornering where you are grip limited so tyres (and brakes if they fade) are the best way to reduce laptimes.

There's a comparison of primacies vs AD08Rs somewhere on you tube in an Frs and iirc the guy dropped 3.7s in a 1min 20s lap so you can see how at beford or snet 300 it could be 10seconds.

You're having a bit of hassle with those brakes. Even by the law of averages you'd expect half of it to be fitted right way around.

It's easy to get a cheap hotel room in the vicinity of Donington (cost me 18 quid last time for a Travelodge type place), due to it being next to East Midlands airport. Which is quite handy if you're travelling from the South. Have a relaxed drive up the night before, get up almost-normal time and have breakfast at the circuit.
Also PS4's (which I think you have?) are really good in the wet.

Yep those are going to be heat retention veins on AP's, not good.

Slight update. As from previous posts I intended to purchase a BBK so I did and now I need to bed them in as with most of the country its not really quite ready for some big safe stops

Obviously very dirty but you get the idea. Also changed the rear pads and fensport headlight adjuster. So roll on Blyton on the 21st so I can test those brakes out

Also thanks again to Mike and TD for fitting

This is a GT86 forum what do you think the answer is going to be?
Ask this queation on pistonheads or such like if you want an unbiased opinion.

But since you are asking... buy a GT86, it's better because I said so

Cheers! Yeah, all good, I'll need a new TPMS sensor and will get the alignment checked just in case, but otherwise it was just a bit of ego damage. Lessons learned - with Primacies and no nannies 9/10ths is more than enough, and if you're ever catching a Cayman GT4 it's because they're smart enough not to take the piss with it rather than because you're far more talented than them...

My old flat made did that. Span off on Paddock on the first session of an evening event then spent the rest of the time digging gravel out of his MR2's tyres.
    Hope you're all sorted Dave.

Well, I finally got to do a track day after my December date was snowed off, without any actual snow. So I rebooked for the 27th January. It seemed a long way off at that point. The good news was that I could get my rear discs and pads refreshed as I knew that there wasn't a lot left of the Project Mu's on the rear. The discs looked pretty bad too. From the feedback I got the pads were in a bad way.
Naturally all this coincided with my 110K service just to make it a bit more expensive. I went for OEM disc and matching Ferodo DS2500 pads for the rear. I got them for £125 online.  Still good to get it done and I was now absolutely ready for a day at Oulton Park. I was only joined by one other GT86, which was Neal's and he was having a whole day of tuition, so it almost felt lonely there for a time. The day started off wet, got a lot wetter then dried but unfortunately for me, it never completely dried so I couldn't give the brakes a real full test that I wanted to.
Obligatory pic after a bit of lapping in the paddock at Oulton:

And what the wheels look like after a 160 mile work out round Oulton!

It was a really good day and was just so quiet out on track, particularly in the afternoon. I took advantage of this and what I noticed about the brakes in comparison to how they were before on stock calipers is that the brakes were strong and simply consistent. It didn't matter how many laps I did they worked the same on lap five as they did on lap one. And it was just brilliant to have the confidence, well reassurance to brake as hard as you liked, lap after lap and there was just no change. Neal was out on stock brakes apart from PFC pads and his were smoking. He had to come in to let the brakes cool as he was getting fade. This was an issue I knew well till I fitted the AP four pots. I've come to the conclusion that going for a decent front caliper/disc setup is the only real way to cure this issue.
I think this was why I ended up doing 160 miles on track. Think it's about the most I've ever done, but the car took it well and I had a great time. A fair few friends to turned up to come for hot laps and well, I did a few!
I did notice though that the car was whining at the rear a bit, well I thought it was the diff, which was worrying, but a trip down to RRG and after taking Gary out for a spin, he was not happy that I slid the car on a roundabout, accidentally on purpose of course! But he and Richard correctly diagnosed a rear wheel bearing. So the car was back a couple of weeks later and my bank account was relieved of £450 as I needed a new rear set of tyres as well. After having to shell out insurance for the year as well, it's been a rather expensive four weeks costing me around £1750 what with insurance, service, wheel bearing, discs and pads and a pair of tyres.
On both occasions my car was in, Richard lent me his GT86 CS demonstrator. It's nice not to have to drive a Yaris courtesy car as it makes getting back into my own car rather less of a shock. The demonstrator has only 5K mile on the clock and it is quieter and more refined than my car, a nice place to be really. It doesn't feel as sharp and the engine whilst eager enough obviously feels like it doesn't have quite the power and definitely not the torque of my car. Whenever I borrow it, I just drive it ten miles home then back to RRG after they've got my car ready and I always forget how loud that cold start is. So glad I've got mine mapped out now.

We been waiting for a Ecutek RaceRom update to allow us to push on our Traction control development , being a master tuner we have a Beta RR package that allows us to do this.
With some carefully built RR maps and the EVI Ecutek Bluetooth module we have got a pretty good adjustable traction control set up still needs some more work but already it is pretty good     Your see wheel slip at the bottom being controlled. Throttle pedal is fully down commanding 80% throttle butterfly opening but our RaceRom custom maps is keeping the Throttle butterfly only @ 54% reducing the power together with reducing timing normally @ 5000rpm and 1.9 engine load we would see around 23/24 deg timing our RaceRom maps are dropping the timing to around 14 degs to reduce the power to keep the wheel speed (slip) under control. The traction is controllable via the Ecutek Bluetooth EVI with a slider to adjust the amount of traction control   We should soon have this sorted so when the new RaceRom update is released it will be available to our Ecutek tuned customers. We hope to have 2 levels calibrated to enable use without having a Ecutek EVI module but it wont be adjustable by the driver

But it's not really the temperature that's the issue, was more my point. Let's, for example, pick a top of the range oil designed for high temp use. At 130C and 6k RPM after 2 laps, a 0W20 is at 50psi, 0W30 at 80psi, 5W40 is 95psi. Out of those, the temperature on the 0W20 is an issue as the pressure is dropping, the 0W30 is probably on it's limits but the 5W40 is still capable of more abuse. Yes this car could do with more oil cooling, but I would be more concerned with oil pressure than peak temperatures. Knowing the relationship between those 2 with what you run is where you want to be at. Any track car should be running an oil pressure gauge IMO.

OEM Porsche GT3 air ducts are cheap and can be attached with a few tie wraps. I'm not sure they do a huge amount, but for the cost worth a go.
