Not a problem, they're sat under my desk at work gathering dust.

They're 210mm centre to centre, not sure how much shorter that is than stock though, other than they're definitely shorter.

I'm not at Japfest but should be able to leave them with someone who is today, will let you know.

If you can't see any witness marks where the drop links are hitting anything check the drop links are tight in the ARB and the strut. My right front drop link came loose at the ARB and made a similar noise under similar symptoms to what you've described.

With the drop links been a weak point on our cars, I'd say get a pair of shorter ones, get them fitted, if it cures the knock "great" if not you have a spare set.
If I'd done this I would have saved a whole lot of time, money and effort.

I'd say there's a reasonable chance you may be catching something. I'd jack it up, take the wheel off and have a really good look especially if you are about 40mm+ lowered.

    Cheers Keith.

Definitely would be good to catch up!

I haven't really thought past this point to be honest. A new set of wheels would be nice but I think I'll focus on some smaller aesthetic bits for the next few months. I think I'll look to get the roof wrapped black next, and perhaps a few more carbon bits for the interior! Would like a different spoiler too but still not decided what I want to go for.

    Hi guys,
After being a part of this forum for over 12 months and seeing all of the amazing cars you guys have built, gaining knowledge and inspiration along the way. I feel it's time I should start a record of my progress on my own car. I've held back until now, simply because I felt my progress would be too slow and would not do the rest of the builds on the forum justice. There really are some amazing examples on here.
I hope you all enjoy the read!
    Knighty's 86 Build Thread

It all started in January 2016 when I found the 86 at a local car supermarket, it was a 64 plate, with 5000 miles on the clock, after looking on the market for an 86 for some time I realised this car was offered at a great price for the spec, Ideally I was first looking for a white or dare I say it, ginger model . But I love red cars and when I saw it I just had to have it, a deposit was placed, I test drove it a week later, and picked it up the following day, sadly leaving behind my beautiful 7th generation Celica GT.

It only took a few weeks before I added my first modification, which was much needed in my opinion...

Toyota OEM armrest. Having somewhere to put your arm that isn't in the cupholder improved things no end! Also added an 86 plaque for the heated seat switch surround.

Next up, not really a modification, I applied my personal plate to the car, and bought some 3D gel resin number plates from Demonplates. these number plates are really nice quality, with the lettering mounted onto the plate, rather than part of the reflective backing.

Carbon fibre is one of my favourite materials to look at, and I soon found that a whole host of interior trim pieces were available to give a nice premium look. I started with the steering wheel piece.

I then added the door handle trims

There's still a lot of carbon trim left to buy, but hopefully I'll get round to it at some point!
The car stayed like this for a few months before I treated myself for my birthday to something I'd been wanting for a while.

Cobra Sport resonated exhaust. The sound of this still makes me smile even now, wakes the car up so much! just what was needed!
Around the same time I treated the car to its first proper detail...
    This consisted of;
    Snow Foam
    Shampoo wash
    Clay Bar
    Machine Polish (Light polish)
    Paint Sealant
    Wax
Below are some of the after shots

    After this the car was just enjoyed for the rest of the year, I took it out on drives through the peak district, snake pass and so on;

The day at snake pass was absolutely awesome! Gorgeous sunshine, open road, the 86 and just me, myself and I. I feel like a club outing into the peaks could be an amazing idea, however it does tend to get very busy with cyclists and the like, so might not be suitable!
Next day out was a trip to Blyton with the club. The first time I got to meet many of you! Many thanks for the warm welcome and making me feel at home! Got some awesome passenger laps with you all!

Then finally onto JAE, my first year at the show and had such a great time! Again thankyou to everyone who made me feel welcome!

Before JAE I was undecided on what to do with the 86. I wanted to lower it, but was unsure of the best way to go about it. At first I thought springs would be the way to go, but after a bit of research and talking to other members. I decided that springs wouldn't give me what I was looking for, and so I turned to the trusted brand TEIN.
I ordered a set of TEIN Flex A coilovers with Amber Performance, and after a long wait, they arrived for me at work!

I then had to decide on what camber adjustment I'd like for the rear of the car, again the wealth of information on the forum saved me, and I opted to go for a set of summit/Swave rear arms. Really nice quality and a great price again from Amber performance.

I had a set of 17 x 8.5 Japan Racing JR3 alloys wrapped in Toyo T1R tyres left over from the Celica build and decided to make use of them, installing them on a stock height car I was a little unsure.
    Before

    After

I ended up really liking them on the car after a while and thought the machined look, really hit a nice contrast with the paint. They looked a little small in the arches, but I decided to see how they looked when the arch gap was removed.
Finally after a few months, the faithful day arrived on Friday the 24th February. The car was booked in with Mike at Tuning Developments to have both the coilovers and rear arms installed, along with a fast road alignment. To say I was looking forward to it was an understatement.
When I picked the car up. I wasn't disappointed.
This is how the car currently sits

This has just transformed the car. You don't truly appreciate just how high the 86 sits on stock suspension until you see it lowered. I absolutely love it, and the wheels look so much better now the arch gap has been removed.
The intention was always to purchase a new set of wheels for the car, but I'm quite happy to keep these on for a while.
So far I'm extremely impressed with how good the ride quality is on the TEIN suspension. I currently have it set to full stiff all round, but I'll start to make some adjustments soon.
The car also feels so much more responsive with the alignment setup.
And so this brings me up to the point the car is currently at. To everyone that helped and gave me advice up to this point a huge thankyou is in order. I appreciate everyones help! Hopefully I can keep making steady progress with this thread as time goes on. There is still a lot of things I have in mind for it!
    Until next time!

    A couple of little things..
I got my Joying Android head unit fitted after a bit of aggro. I bought the connects2 dash kit for the GT86 and the brackets and the Joying did not want to play ball. There were some metal tabs on the brackets that where preventing them from sitting flush against the unit. A bit of angle grinding later, and it was in. Unfortunately, the bits of trim that comes in the connects2 kit also don't fit (GG really), they're ever so slightly too large so I currently have a bit of gap in the dash. I can live with it though, for now at least.
I also took long awaited receipt of my Anarchy Motive Titan gear knob. I didn't realise quite how big a difference a heavier knob would make, but shift feel is massively improved. When you consider cost and difference made, it's my favourite change so far.

I went to a cars and coffee meet last month and it was a nice sunny day and I'd cleaned my wheels for the meet so I grabbed a few better pics of the wheels on the way home.

I spent this weekend just gone in Surrey and managed to get booked in to Abbey while I was there. I was visiting for a full geo check and also to add to the soundtrack
I did get the geo done when I got the suspension fitted but I kept on thinking that something wasn't right so I wanted to get it on the Hunter to check everything. It was out of shape by quite some way to my surprise, camber all over the place and quite an amount of toe at the rears. This has been sorted now and the car felt rather different on the drive home.
So yea, pops and bangs. I have always wanted a setup that bangs etc and I'm not sure why I didn't ask for something to be done when I originally got the car mapped but oh well, with the recent discussions I decided I'd get something sorted.
I asked Mark to go nuts with it as it's a copy of the map I use day-to-day so I can easily swap back and forth between the two and go nuts he did  Now I've run it a bit I have a couple of things I might get tweaked next time I pop down as it can be a little harsh but it certainly makes some noise.
It's pretty ridiculous tbf but that's where having changeable maps comes in handy.
I got the gf to do a couple of (admittedly crap) videos and the car was being a little camera shy I think but it gives you an idea anyway. I also found a video that I did ages ago and never shared so here's that too.

    This consisted of;
    Snow Foam
    Shampoo wash
    Clay Bar
    Machine Polish (Light polish)
    Paint Sealant
    Wax
Below are some of the after shots

    After this the car was just enjoyed for the rest of the year, I took it out on drives through the peak district, snake pass and so on;

Easily. It's what I've done. Just don't get the bushes like Lauren has as they can only be adjusted off the car. Get the whiteline ones which are on car adjustable.

Depends what camber you put up the front
Because of my wheel fitment I wanted a couple of degrees on the rear to bring the wheels into the arches, plus I just couldn't handle them being different/not properly done. I viewed LCAs as a must buy with the coilovers.
Not sure about the holes off the top of my head but if that's where the adjuster attaches then they must do because I have the Cusco adjuster fitted...

They have all the holes required including headlight levellers.

Well I'll buck the trend, I fitted the Japspeed LCA and they have done 2 seasons of TSS several trackdays and many road miles. All without any problems at all, being happy with them I now have a set on my new 86.

Kind of in the same boat as you at the moment @Knighty. But not sure that paying £500 for a pair of LCA's (Can't really see past the SPL ones) is worth the adjustability/getting rid of the camber mismatch, where I could probably better spend it on a track day or on some mods to make the car better to live with.

I went Summit / S-Wave in the end, they haven't broke so can recommend haha

Summit / S-Wave are your best bet. However if money is no object then the SPL would be top of my list (Velox don't have a bolt hole for the headlight level adjuster).

I have the Cusco arms as I got them at a great price second hand and like the rubber boot that protects the rose joint, been fitted for 6-7K on my car including 2 track days and they make no noise or show any signs of wear.
I bought some Japspeed adjustable drop links and the quality was awful, the rose joints lasted a matter of weeks, I wouldn't trust their LCA's personally.
I would have gone spl or velox if the Cusco ones hadn't shown up in the classifieds.

Buddy Club units are around £300 I believe. Don't know of anyone with them fitted in the UK, but I'm sure plenty in the US. May be worth a look.

I'm a bit stuck in the same position. I wouldn't use Japspeed parts as they are too budget. I love the look of the SPL ones, but the price! The Swave/Summit ones are well used and I don't know of any problems. But I baulk at fitting Taiwanese parts for some reason. There is Cusco which are mid-range IMO, but higher on price than mid-range.
I really want the SPL ones, but just trying to stomach the price. I'd be interested too in what others say. I've ran offset bushed for three years and once set they are fine. But they are a real pain to setup. Took RRG nearly four hours to adjust them last time as everytime you have to remove the bushes to adjust them. It's a royal pain and being accurate takes a lot of guesswork and trial and error.
