    Will300's Subaru BRZ Build

Update 19/03/2019 - Bedford Trackday Another month, another trackday. This time at Bedford Autodrome, I've been to Bedford several times now and it's such a good circuit as it has quite a mixed track layout, long straights, tight corners, hairpins, chicanes, etc. It was a fantastic day, everyone was well behaved, there was lots of track time, only 1 red flag and little traffic. The weather was also good for March and dry for most of the day, other than 5 mins at lunch when there was a quick shower. Thank you @VAD17 for arranging. There is nothing new to report on the car, it performed relatively flawlessly as expected. A few things I've noticed, the car doesn't seem to roll as much at Bedford compared to Silverstone, so Anti Roll Bars have been removed from the shopping list for now. Suspension for both track day was set at the 1st click from full stiff. @willclarke said it's very flat round the corners which he didn't expect. Overall I'm happy with the balance of the car, its very neutral, precise and easy to rotate on throttle, making it excellent in the corners. My only complaint is with my brake fluid. I'm not happy with how my pedal feels and how soft it gets after a short period. I'm currently using ATE Type 200 which although is track focused, I think I'm going to get something with a higher boiling point. Here are a couple of photo's from the day:

Finally pulled the trigger on a turbo install from Mike at TD. I couldn't be happier, the car feels incredible. Mike was super helpful all the way through, couldn't have asked for better communication. Even went the extra mile (literally) - making an hour long trip up to KSport HQ to pick up replacement calipers for me after they sent out the wrong ones to make sure all the work was done in time for my pickup. If you're in any doubt about pulling the trigger on this - stop wasting time and go for it, you wont find a better option.

Recognise quite a few cars from the photos [emoji3] Mike- wasn't you also planning to do a track version? Would be interested to hear/ see how its going. And from personal experience can vouch for the quality of TD craftsmanship. I went from NA to TD turbo kit (with super resonated exhaust), and most other mods have been done by TD team as well. I only wish Warrington was closer to London/ SW... Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

    Unsure What To Do?

They're just trying to ring you of cash while your car was in with them. Just tell them to do one and get the plugs done at 60k. Even then the quote of 1k (or 1.3k without their "discount") is ludicrous. I'd expect the spark plugs to be crafted by the hands of Zeus himself and sprinkled with gold dust for that 🤣

Let's do something. I've met up with a few European friends before, in Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. If you have any cool events going on over there, do please let me know.

I wouldn't say you do. I changed mine at 65k after noticing a few rough starts.

Spark plugs don't need doing until the car has gone 60k... pointless doing them at 38k

My advice? Get some spark plugs from us, and get them done yourself. Fiddly but easy job, took me 4 hours to do all 4, but saves you hundreds of pounds 😁

    Thinking of coming back

Wasn't sure where to post this, but kind of feels the right place as I've been away for so long. I'm thinking of coming back to a BRZ. I had one of the first in 2012, but about three years ago swapped for a Seat Leon Cupra estate due to a lack of space in the back for my young lads. The Seat's faster, quicker, quieter, comfier, more grip, more brakes (with the big Brembo kit on it), just about as economical, easier to get in n' out, carries more (just about), but dull as anything. "Dull" might be the wrong word - it's 280bhp, so perhaps "uninvolving" is better....I recall the BRZ was plenty fast enough on the road, except away from the lights surrounded by German mid range diesels!! It never felt out of its depth, even on standard tyres on the track. So, if it's been improved for the 2017 facelift, it might be knocking one of the other options for a 2nd car, a 981 Cayman, out of the picture.
