rob275 1817 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 So I phoned my insurers (Admiral) and the inevitable has happened, they don't insure anyone with superchargers or any FI. So why the f*ck is it listed on your site? tools. So i compared the market, I do this not for the best deal but to get average prices. Bet came back £1306 22, 23 in feb with 4 years NCB in an area that is regrettably getting a worse crime rate by the day. I phones Sky and Luke managed to get a quote of £1280, reasonable? I'm currently paying £780 all mods declared with admiral, I'm not sure how much it would generally up the price. I assume its a fair hike due to my age and the shitty area. Special K 442 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 Bad news, Rob... it has gotta be the area, I reckon. Mine is £800-odd with full 10-year NCB (protected), so £1280 sounds pretty good to me.. Spec K
rob275 1817 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 Re-assuring, he did say that normally they don't insure FI until 25 so I can't complain really. And its with protected NCB
Mike 458 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 Can't help with your situation but seeing as your with Admiral, did you get insured pre-remap? If so, how much did getting the car remapped change the insurance by? I've seen various reports on other sites where Admiral have refused some people, some were a small charge and some unlucky person got their insurance cancelled on the spot for just asking! rob275 1817 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 what re-map? My mods only cost me £40 extra, exhaust springs wheels etc etc... They refused to insure me but i merely asked for a quote so they know I will be cancelling but they havent cancelled it as its not fitted.
Mike 458 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 *looks at the end of Rob's sig* but £40 for general mods seems fine - sure some insurer's admin charge is close to that
rob275 1817 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 yeah it wasn't bad, and the cheapest insurer at the time. Shame that they cannot insure me

rob275 1817 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 Flux kicked Sky's quote in the arse for me. I'll contact them, only ever contacted them once and they wouldn't insure me cos I wasn't 21 at the time
Test Drives Unlimited 278 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 Have just renewed my Car Insurance with AXA Ins for £312.
Keethos 842 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 You can give Greenlight a try, and they're pretty good for trackday goers and they only charge £50 I think for trackday cover.....but....and this is a big but....they wouldn't insure me as they have a vehicle value cap of £20,000. I tried getting a quote this year and said that the car is worth a lil less than £20k and they still wouldn't insure me cos the car was too expensive.....pretty redonkulous considering they specialise in performance cars, but give them a try anyways mate as they were really good price wise when I had the Clio 200! Deacon 1357 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 Chris Knott are also pretty good for price when I've tried them. With all mods declared I'm paying about £400.
GT86Jay 202 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 My quote for FI from Elephant came back at £960 full comp. protected no claims and £500 excess. Others were quoting like £2k Also isn't Elephant part of Admiral?
Special K 442 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 That's a remarkably good price, Jay!I suppose it's your neighbours... they all drive round in horse and carts chewing on bits of straw...<darfc>Spec K
GT86Jay 202 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 That's it! There's about 15 houses within about 10 miles of me. No-one has ever had a car stolen and no body has ever crashed. If they do they patch they 4x4 up with some duck tape and carry on their day... I've got 3.2 years driving with nearly 4 years NCB.

Others were quoting like £2k Also isn't Elephant part of Admiral? They are, so I don't understand why they won't insure me. :S However be careful Jay, elephant wont replace mods like for like. Infact they will do anything to get out of not replacing anything, i've been there and got the t-shirt.

rob275 1817 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 Adrian Flux = £1075, now awaiting a call from Luke @ Sky once he's seen if he can match it. Bird from Adrian Flux was so pushy i felt violated on the phone. I was like NO I DONT WANT IT, but you get free ding dings? NO
Keethos 842 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 Wow, that's pretty good, Adrian Flux could't get any where near Sky on my current insurance with all my mods and potential mods declared.....but it's one of those things....one insurance company will give one person a terrible quote but then give someone else with similar stats an amazing quote, but then another company will do the complete opposite. Just keep on looking Rob!
Rab 60 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 Rob, I got my best quote from Prestige. Almost half what Sky quoted. Flux were exactly halfway in between! Try performance direct too
