I had a day that doesn't seem to happen to me very often. I remembered all my corner speeds, so just hit it straight away. To be fair, my first run would have won by two seconds nearly, but obviously I chipped away at it all day just in case Kev and Jamie looked like they were getting close.

In the end I was 3.2 seconds clear, so my biggest win by a big margin. I was absolutely in the zone on that day and really felt that there was nothing more I could get out of the car. A wonderful day for me and so pleased to win and convincingly rather than coming bloody second again which I hate.

Mike, for you, turn in later, feed the power in, use more track, particularly so at Port Froid where you should just be hanging the inside wheels on the right (well left) side of the corner outside line! Learn to heel and toe. Seriously put the effort in, it's just so worth it.

Had a great time, so much for a wet weekend. 4 Different types of rain protection for my kit and not one bottle of suncream!

Now I have the task of sorting through 1600 photos including removing duplicates, processing and uploading.

86alex - it's not something you borrow 'cos once your stickers are on you can't get 'em off and once you've cut 'em to size they're bl**dy useless to anyone else !!

I've got some, I'll bring a couple of sheets and can bring my scalpels/scissors/steel rule if you need 'em.

(I'm not sure what car I'll be in - if I'm in the tonka toy I can get my cutting board in as well.)

The day has finally come, I've finally dropped my car off to get it fixed and ultimately transform into something epically awesome! CAN'T WAIT! Had to drop it off early as I don't have time to drop it off any other time so work won't actually start till next week, and sadly it'll be about 3 weeks  the wait is guna kill me!

It has been too long but it was also kinda fun driving around in this state, the faces and looks was amusing, and the amount of people talking about my car all over the country was impressive, my boss over heard some people chatting about a battered 86 while at a scanning event, turns out they were from Bentley and it was my car they were talking about, I've even had a stalker hunt me down on Facebook after seeing my car parked up somewhere. But the car will come back looking epic, there are lots of extra bits going on so the car will be completely transformed, but I'll leave some of that as a surprise!  But for the time being, I'm currently driving around in a Hyundai i10 which has so far made me a lil car sick....and I was driving

It's a great track. Plenty of run off apart from one chicane exit, but it's got a good surface and you can really push it there. Recommended!

    I'm booked already.

18x8 with a 225/40/18 is fine. If you want wheels that are light, you'll need to look second hand unless you have a couple of grand knocking about.

Cheap Taiwanese copies (Rota etc) are heavy and not as strong as forged wheels. Most people buy them for aesthetics and price. I prefer 17's, as cars handle better on smaller wheels, plus they are lighter. My wheels are 7.4kg, against stock at 9.2kg. A light wheel makes a big difference.

If you can't afford forged wheels like TE37's, etc, then you could look at Gram Lights which are a good half way house, being a decent Japanese wheel and still relatively light.

If you fit 17's and put 225/45/17s on then there is too much sidewall flex, this is why I run stock sizes on an 8" rim. 225/40's on an 18" wheel are fine though as there's less flex with the reduction in profile.

It all depends what you want really. If you want cheap and for it to look good, buy some Taiwanese copies. If you are all about handling and that, save up for some Rays or keep a beady eye out and buy secondhand like I did, then refurb them. The good thing is, my wheels will always be worth what it's cost me.

Or find a compromise and buy Gram Lights, Enkei or Works wheels.

I'm pretty sure i didn't do anything silly to cause the problem, however the more you think, the more self doubt creeps in! As you say, I'm glad it's sorted now. I will continue to run these discs and see how they hold up. This of course means I need to do another track day to see if i can replicate the issue! If they go again I will look into upgrading.

I thought it prudent not to mention any track day frivolities!

    Copied from my other post:
Don't forget that the tune also includes the ECUtek cable which is £250ish in it's own right.

FWIW, I think the 1.1 isn't far off, £2000-2200 is reasonable.
The 1.2 will likely be using a much higher quality cat than most aftermarket HFC pipes, Milltek/Cobra etc use decat pipes. These cost money and are required for some European approval. So maybe the extra £800 is justified. A decent manifold is going to be £800-1000 with that kind of heat coating.

I don't think its fair to comment on the stage 2 kit. I doubt they'll remove the stock airbox before stage 3 based on what I asked. But it will be more than £3-3.5k, the other systems on the market are.
