Rich got a reaction from Deacon in TTR's San Remo BRZ
Delivery is a fiver, which adds significantly to the cost! Still think I'll get some, about £12 delivered.

Wheels arrived today to go with the PS4's. They are Autec Wizards in 18x8" et35.
The wheels weigh 9.6kg's each. The ps4's in 225/40/18 also weigh 9.6kg so the combined package is 19.2kg a wheel and tyre. Definitely not the lightest but also not terrible and not a million miles from the stock wheel and tyre combos weight.
I bought these to use as my summer road wheels and wet track duty after seeing them on a car at Santa Pod recently and really liking the way they looked so in that sense weight wasn't really a driving force (otherwise I'd have stuck with my usual choice of 17's). I've never had 18's on my 86 so I'll be interested to see if there's any noticeable difference.
They'll either be on the car this weekend or next depending on what the weather is looking like for the club blyton park event.

Rich reacted to Ade in Ade's Audio Install
I'd say the door and rear rear arches are equally as effective.
The carpet already has sound deadening foam underneath, but the above to places are basically metal panels (that ring like a mother) and the a plastic trim over the top. Everywhere else there is at least something to kill noise a bit.
In both cases make sure you apply CLD and Thinsulate to the inside of the plastic trim as well as the metal panels.
The roof is also a tinny bit of metal with a bit of trim over it, but obviously less sound comes throguh there... unless its raining.
I have to say it does make the car a more refined experience. Much lower road noise and the nice but reasonalby quiet exhaust note make it feel more like an OEM German sports car IMO.

Rich got a reaction from Mark-in-Stoke in Parking in Manchester
NCP are quite expensive in Manchester. Parkopedia is a good site to check parking prices.

I can't do evenings at Snett, it's 5 hours away... Anglesey is tempting though, I can be there in two hours, give or take.

I have a Javelin voucher to spend, could be tempted by Snett if it's a Javelin day (will try not to crash this time).

Rich got a reaction from Lowe in Spotted, white Aero with Castrol livery, M6 South J15-11
The Castrol one is/was Oakmere Toyota's demo. First one I looked at - it was running a TD catback and induction kit, sounded ace and really got me hooked on getting one.

Rich got a reaction from CHOSENMAN007 in Tein coilovers paired to edfc
Active Pro has independent 4 wheel adjustment and lateral G force adjustment. So it can vary the stiffness left to right as well as front to back. Active just does front to back. I think it's worth it as the cornering adjustment is one of the best features of EDFC - it reduces roll without needing to fit overly stiff ARBs.
Also, Active Pro has ECU speed input, so if you opt for Active you'll need the GPS kit.
There's a table at the bottom of this page with a comparison of the kits: http://www.tein.co.uk/product/edfc_active_pro.html

A few pictures from Bedford yesterday with the new rear spoiler fitted. The Spec L exhaust recorded 80dB at 4500rpm, plenty of headroom for when the stock manifold is ditched

Rich got a reaction from TTR in Tyre choices
I'm pretty sure it was, yes. Blackcircles is the cheapest I've found for PS4s, which I am getting shortly.

Rich reacted to billdingo in General wheels question
Tyres are off. Seems the GF's scales are tiny, so had to make do and balance one against my leg to stop it rolling off, but it came in at 6.4kg.
They're caked in many years of brake dust. So hopefully come out roughly the same once cleaned up and powder coated. Shame I'll lose the stickers on the inside.

Rich reacted to rob275 in Guy fitting my coilovers says the car won't be road legal, should i roll/pull my arches?
A slight protrusion isn't an MOT failure. Ignore him he doesn't know what he's talking about, perhaps someone else should fit the coilovers that knows what they are talking about?

Rich reacted to Deacon in The TSS tyre question!
Obviously I can only speak for myself but it doesn't read like 'banter' to be honest. It makes it sound like the TSS is no fun and is quite off putting imho.

To be fair it's a fairly expensive way to find out you're crap. Speaking from experience.

Rich reacted to Philip in Phone ban - watch out...
I'm afraid that your local plod is incorrect (he's not the only one) - if you were to challenge him to show where the law says this, he wouldn't be able to. The restrictions on touching a screen related purely to hand-held devices - once it is in a cradle, a phone is no longer regarded by the law as hand-held, and the same rules apply as if you were interacting with a built-in stereo or satnav.
For example, the Government's own web site says:
It's illegal to use a handheld mobile when driving. This includes using your phone to follow a map, read a text or check social media. This applies even if you’re stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic. It is also illegal to use a handheld phone or similar device when supervising a learner driver. You can only use a handheld phone if you are safely parked or need to call 999 or 112 in an emergency and it’s unsafe or impractical to stop. If you’re caught using a handheld phone while driving, you’ll get 6 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £200. Points on your licence will result in higher insurance costs. If you get just 6 points in the first two years after passing your test, you will lose your licence. Using hands free (e.g. for navigation) is not illegal. However, if this distracts you and affects your ability to drive safely, you can still be prosecuted by the police. You'll note that these all of these (apart from the last one) relate to hand-held devices rather than hands-free.
The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2003 at Regulation 2(6)(a) say: a mobile telephone or other device is to be treated as hand-held if it is, or must be, held at some point during the course of making or receiving a call or performing any other interactive communication function.
The BBC web site also has some advice on this, including:
Can I use my phone's sat nav?
Yes - as long as the phone is mounted in a hands-free holder. If it's in your hands, it's illegal.
What counts as hands-free?
A dashboard holder or cradle, earphones or a Bluetooth connection.
So, as I said above:
As long as your phone is in a cradle, then it is not regarded as a "hand-held device" under the law and (provided that it does not affect your driving) you can do whatever you want with it - answer calls, change your satnav, etc. You can treat it as you would a built-in satnav or stereo and you can press as many buttons as you wish.
If the phone is not in a cradle, then it is a "hand-held device" according to the law, and you cannot interact with it in any way while driving.
