Is remapping nessecary if installing uel header?

2 cats are there from the manufacturer for a very good reason. Taking one out could help you pass for the initial years but as the cat ages and wears out with mileage, is destined to fail. Finding a friendly garage is a nice way to make something illegal, legal for cheap. Not my way of thinking but hey ho. Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

    No Sound From USB Connection

Correct, till 2017 just old school CD player without sat nav or Bluetooth unless customer went for a 1600£ pioneer upgrade. 2018 onwards subaru starlink based touch screen with apple car play and android auto. Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

Op has a BRZ, so no touch and go. It's an old school CD player without touch screen. Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

    No Sound From USB Connection

As Gazza said, You need to connect the 3.5mm audio jack to Aux in just next to USB and if you have a new iPhone you need that port conversion thing as apple has kindly decided to let the 3.5mm audio jack out. If you use a USB drive /pen drive, then it works seamlessly. Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

It will not give you gains but give you the boxer rumble, if you change your exhaust too. With OE exhaust and a UEL without a tune, you get very minimal gains. So do it if you want to but not expect gains or save up and do it with a tune. Tuning development links on this site will show you examples of people who fitted the manifold themselves and later went for a tune. Their dyno will give you before and after. How to select Exhaust Manifold

The coil packs one is not consistent otherwise, with the number of TD's sold, would've come to light quite quickly as many track the car. A few here and there cannot directly be attributed to manifold, i guess. With FI, another radiator will cause additional engine bay temp is the right theory but hard to measure the problem it will cause as there are no statistical evidences. I agree to the principle though. The manufacturer could have saved costs by not having a heat shield but they did not go down that route and have clearly engineered it for a reason.

    How to select Exhaust Manifold

Heat management with SC is something I am not sure about but being NA, I do not see any difference before and after manifold (TD) in coolant or engine oil temps. I cannot measure engine bay temp so cannot statistically say. All data from different days, different times, different duration of drive. Love your comprehensive responses DJ! How to select Exhaust Manifold

Agreed. It's a 4-2-1 not 4-1 but up and over is what I meant [emoji4] Also Cosworth use/recommend nameless and the OP had an interest in Cosworth. A up and over manifold like TD should work is my theory, but i am no expert.

    How to select Exhaust Manifold

FA20 was a copy of nameless, I thought. Having said this, up and over and the overpipe integration (like Ace) are the only two successful formulae. So, go for a manifold first only if you have a long wait before you go supercharged, as per the common advise. Another person you can ask is matt@cosworth as to what best suits their SC. They were going to halt production of SC, at least for a while I believe. Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

    Oil usage

Same story here, no oil consumption between services. Was paranoid when i got the car to check very frequently but now check once every quarter, just to be safe. My friend has a BMW 116i, and it drinks a litre of oil for every 1000 miles and the dealer says its normal. Just keep the habit of topping it up

Could we not use an ecu code switch off tool? As is done to switch off check engine light when putting a catless manifold? Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

    Deacons '86

Interesting results. Thanks for sharing and glad you are having the gains. Looking at the graphs, the JDL did not get rid of the torque dip, while i expected it to eliminate it, as a very well regarded UEL but may be the USA folks have different dynos and conditions. How does the manifold sound on full throttle? Is it audible, raspy etc etc. compared to the JDL? Do you still have the catback and does it sound any different in terms of loudness ( except the burble, of course).

Looks lovely and resembles the ACE though not exactly same 4-2-1 design. What does the dyno tell us in terms of gains, Jeff? Not heard of Rogue but they have done a ve4y decent job with the JDL cat removal too. You sure have expensive tastes with manifolds [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

    New in South Shields

Welcome. This car is built and tuned well from factory. So an airbox /induction filter will not give you any big gains and neither will a remap with no hardware change though both are possible. I will suggest hold fire on tuning, till you get a new manifold and get it done together. Regarding exhausts, there is a lot of choice. Popular choices here are Cobra, Tuning Developments and Nvdia. Go for a resonated in case you decide to do the manifold later otherwise it will get loud.

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments

May the better way to put it is, the hardware made the change to reduce the torque dip, the software didn't as it was not tuned. If ECU does not learn much, how does it work with detecting fuel changes (i.e. high octane vs low octane) and adjust timing to prevent knock? And with a battery reset, its always mentioned ECU needs time to relearn the map, is that a myth then?

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments

To fully gain yes, but the power and torque gains are low compared to someone who went stock upwards. So if budget and/or availability of a reputable tuner is hard, you can benefit from the manifold only. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments

It has indeed. From a typical 20 lbft dip it has gone to 10lbft dip. The dip has got a bit wider though. Starts at 3k instead of 3250. Hence the max gains both torque and power is not as high as old tune has adjusted well to the hardware. This should be a reference graph for people wanting to decide if they need a tune or not.
