I would go with ECUTeK through one of the dealers, Ourselves, Fensport, Abbey, all traders on this forum and all done plenty of these cars.
A 'flash map' wouldn't be my preferred choice for the 86/BRZ.

    Cheers

    The more the merrier!

Just another reminder that we'll be running the dyno again at reduced cost for the day for those intrigued to run theirs up. We have lots of existing data from these cars to give feedback with.

We'll put some food on again as per last time, hopefully we get some sunshine too

    Thanks

Success! I managed to borrow the time and garage of a friend this afternoon and got my catback fitted. I also remembered to take pics.
The noise difference for having the catback on is phenomenal. While just having the manifold fitted made it a bit louder, it now is properly loud, with a lovely low rumble at idle which develops into a raspy roar when you boot it.
    So, on to the pics.
First a couple of pics I took yesterday while fitting the manifold of the stock system. A bit dirty, but my car has done just over 15,000 miles.

A pic from this morning of the manifold before I refitted the undertrays, nice and shiny:

On to this afternoon, stock stripped off and ready for the new catback.

    And here it is!

Yes I know the car really needs a wash, but fitting the exhaust had to take priority.

So it's time to start a build thread, for my ginger 86, which has become known as "Max Weapon" since the plate more or less spells that, and I like it in an 80s action hero kind of way.
Previously I'd fitted a K&N drop in air filter, but today he got his first proper mod, a new exhaust manifold and overpipe. I'd like to post pics, but in the excitement of trying to get it done myself before my garage time ran out I forgot to take any. I also forgot to put the undertrays back on, oops. Guess I'll be under the car on axle stands tomorrow for that. I'll try to snap a pic of the manifold while I'm at it.
Also planned for today was a Milltek secondary cat back, but that was stumped as I couldn't get the midpipe to join to the stock front pipe correctly. Any hints from anyone who has fitted one?
Results so far are fairly minimal noise wise. Since I'm running the majority of the stock pipe it's not gotten much louder. There's a definite change in tone from the UEL manifold though. Looking forward to the proper sound when I get the cat back on.
Not noticed a big difference in power either really, but I'm due in for a remap at TD next weekend, so I think that will be when I properly feel it.

Yes the milltek is flat flange. According to a post on ft86club you can just pop the donut gasket off. I'm going to have a crack this afternoon I think. In the meanwhile I refitted the undertrays this morning, and got a few snaps of the new manifold in situ while I was at it. I'll post them later.

Hi, I was also under the car this weekend refitting all my pipes (on my ginger!) - I've replaced the stock front pipe and it uses a doughnut gasket-style joint. Does your milltek potentially have a flat flange connector on it? If it does, might just be a bit trickier connecting the two pipes.
Good choice on the uel - makes the car sound so much better!

Being an ex Codemasters employee, this brings back memories and I've always loved the rally games, even if I would work on them day in day out, I'd still play them once the game was released.  All that is behind me now but I still have friends in the company which are hyping the next DiRT Rally game (sadly missed the early access as it was just for PC and don't tend to game that much with my PC) and has been very successful thus far.  The console version is due out soon and after I told my mate that I was planning on building a racing frame for my Logitech G29, which I picked up from Curry's at a very good price, he gave me a shout out on their DiRT Rally Road Book blog site, I decided to send him some pics of what I had done so far and this is what he's posted up:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember last week, when Keith posted in the PS4 Gossip Thread about planning his custom built racing  frame? Well, he’s pulled his metaphorical finger out and started work on his masterpiece. Building a custom frame isn’t unprecedented, but Keith has gone to incredible lengths to get his just right. He’s a member of the GT86 Drivers Club, but by day he spends his time scanning cars and producing 3D models. This put him in the perfect position to replicate the feeling of being behind the wheel of his own car:
“I used a 3D scanning system (laser line scanner) and our software (PolyWorks) to scan the interior of my GT86, followed by scanning of the Logitech G29 peripherals.

Once I had finished scanning, I then manually aligned, by eye, the scans of the G29 parts to their relative positions within my car.  Once roughly aligned, I could then use PolyWorks to measure the mating faces and fixture holes so I could then export that information out into a CAD package called Solidworks.  From there, I could then design the frame around these key locations using primarily 30x30mm aluminium extrusions.”
How cool is that?! If you’re working on your own custom build, or if you just want to share your home setup with us, feel free to get at us in the usual places.

I asked him to give the club a shout out and he did, what a legend.  I've pretty much finished the design, just getting prices for parts etc which has been a bit of a mission, might end up sourcing the aluminium extrusions locally but then buy the brackets and what not from china as its a lot cheaper, the extrusion would be too but shipping is the killer really.  Can't wait to get this made and to play DiRT!
