Hello :)

Hi everybody :) I've been knocking around the 'other' forum for a while oblivious to the existence of this one until I visited RRG Macclesfield when I picked up a set of wheels & winter tyres for the BRZ, warm welcome by the team there despite driving the Scoob version! Mind you, one of the salemen did ask if I fancied a change lol :D Not changed much (yet) on the car just deciding which route to go down regarding the exhaust, want to get that Scooby burble released http://www.gt86.org.uk/forums/filedata/fetch?id=4549 Jude

Hi Jude, nice pic! Yes, Sunday was a good day (and the new reversing camera Jay fitted is the dog's do-dah's). I also picked up a set of OEM rims and Yoko winters from riceburner there and saw that there was another set awaiting collection - now we know who for! Mind you, then driving at Lauren speed on the cat and fiddle run afterwards with the one on top sliding violently to one side then another when cornering gave drifting a whole different meaning for me :DI'm also looking at exhaust options having heard a couple of different milltek combinations and Jay's full Cobra on Sunday. RRG do a very good price on the Milltek and you also get it included in the 5 year Toyota warranty if they fit it, although I realise that assumes you have the correct badge in the first place :P

Welcome aboard, good to have you. :+:Jim, yes, know what you mean, this is why I went for the Milltek. I later went back and got the decat pipe fitted with overpipe at my first service. :)

Lauren, can I just ask - given you went from a secondary Milltek system to a primary one, what were the noticable differences both in terms of sound and power, and having driven with both would you recommend the primary as being better than seciondary if you can afford it (i.e., is it worth the extra money!)?

I'd strongly recommend getting the decat pipe buddy. It doesn't particularly seat very well with the standard front pipe. The overpipe however is a rip off as far as i'm concerned. Also the decat sounds nicer :P powerwise I think yes you are going to get better airflow, in theory you will get more power, coupled with a remap the gains can be quite impressive.

It got a lot louder when I got the decat. Performance wise I think the decat gave the biggest increase. Yes, it's worth the money I think! If you're going to do it, you might as well do it properly... :)

Welcome and glad you could join us! It was a shame you didn't pop over on Sunday to pick up the wheels as we had a rather nice meet there!

Curses  if I'd joined the forum earlier I would have seen this and popped down. Next time :DThanks for the welcome everybody, nice to feel welcome.Jude

Regarding the exhaust, STILL waiting for Subaru & Pro-R to announce details of the exhaust system that will be available. I know they are going for the Miltek but don't know if res or non-res, obviously this route would be warranty friendly.BUT - if they don't get a move on then it'll be back to RRG for a non-res Miltek as already discussed with Riceburner :32 (1): and I'll just take a risk with the warranty on the engine. Not heard of too many engines going pop so should be OK.

You wont do any damage to your engine with an exhaust change. If you do' date=' you shouldn't be driving. ;)[/quote'] True. But I know only too well that Subaru will use any excuse to void a warranty claim :(

Not according to my local Subaru dealer (Ballsal Common), they've fitted their demo car with the Miltek exhaust, slapped on some 18" Impreza STi wheels (I think they're the STi wheels) as well as some decals, suspension springs and stuff, just ask Quball, he brought it! The dealer told me that Subaru were well aware of what they were doing and had no problems with it as they were pretty confident that as long as the parts were fitted correctly, you can't really go wrong with those parts (if they went forced induction on the other hand, then they'll probably have a word as you're more prone to issues). The last time I spoke to them, they were trying to build a relationship with Cosworth so they could tune cars for customers and be ok with it. So that dealer seems to be doing the same type of stuff that Riceburner is doing with his demo cars/customers and Toyota.

Thanks Keethos :)I am pretty sure that there won't be issues with the engine unlike the 08-10 Impreza hatch which had chocolate pistons and Subaru very rarely accepted any claims under warranty for that fault.I will probably ring Cross Roads in the week as they are a little nearer the Ballsal Common and they too are very much into their upgrades

Cool, so you from around the midland area then? I actually test drove the demo at the Cross Roads dealer, the guy there saw 3 pretty big fellas was in and asked for a test drive and his actual words were "well I don't fancy getting in the back with you boys in there so if you leave me your keys, you 3 can test drive the car out without me", pretty cool of him as my local Toyota dealer wouldn't let me test drive it without him in the car!

No, I'm in the North West but used Cross Roads to do a few bits on my Impreza whilst we were in between dealers up here. For some reason the Subaru dealers only stay open a couple of years, bit too much of a niche brand perhaps. If I recall - are Ballsal Common part of the Unity Group?

Ooo, I have no idea, sorry, never really paid much attention to see what group they belonged to.

More welcomes, thanks very much :+:So today I finally got round to ringing Cross Roads Subaru regarding the Pro-R exhaust. Final details will be released end of October/early November. Chris said that he'd driven the Stage 1 BRZ with the Pro-R goodies fitted and that the exhaust sounded pretty good. So for the sake of warranty friendliness looks like I will be going down this route. And in other news - my car stickers arrived today. Just in time for Lads (Lancashire & District Subaru Owners) meet on Sunday. Better get the car washed then, can't and daren't turn up in a dirty car!! :rolleyes:Have a great weekend allJude

Better get the car washed then, can't and daren't turn up in a dirty car!![/quote']Yes, I may get along to a future LADS meet as I've been told I can join even with the 'wrong' badge given the nature of the car :)Incidentally, I've also had a few conversations with Richard and Steve at Scooby specialists Cotton Competition near Garstang - http://www.cotcomp.com/ - who are trying to work out some sustainable pricing and offers around both modding (mainly exhausts and ecutek) and servicing for the 86/BRZ (they used to be a scooby main dealer). I think I will be using RRG myself, but they could be good for you and as long as they use genuine parts (which they will) your warranty will be secure. I've also mentioned getting involved in club discounts/group buys, but for the moment I think they need to catch up on the car (and fill a much needed Lancs gap so far as a specialist/modding garage is concerned).
