  1. No worries, the change in brake disc size also has an influence. I don't know if the 4% calc included that as well.

If it genuinely is only 4% I wouldn't worry about that, but I'd confirm its 4% first, I don't normally trust numbers off the internet unless I can see they've been calculated properly.

I've not checked the maths in that NASIOC spreadsheet, but it looks like its been done by someone who knows what they're doing.

  2. Are you just changing the fronts?

If you can measure the diameters of the pistons and the diameter of the discs then its a quick spreadsheet calc to work out the brake bias difference. IIRC its been done already somewhere on the FT86 forum.

Some people will be able to tell the difference, others won't notice 4%.

One word of caution with mixing pad compounds is that their coefficient of friction vs temperature will be different so you'll get different bias as they warm up, and how much braking the front and rear axles are doing directly affects how much more heat energy goes in to the front or rear brakes. That said the same is true with the same pads front and rear to a lesser degree.

  3. In road driving the extra torque at the wheels when pulling away from junctions can be useful.

Track wise I've found that typically I'm a gear higher than cars with the std FD in most corners, less across the gate downshifts to second is a bonus but otherwise there isn't much in it.

I imagine there'd be a small advantage on some sprints pulling away from the line, but that depends on how far it is to the first braking point and whether you'll have to make an extra shift with the shorter ratios.

If I had my time again I would spend my money elsewhere, but don't regret it as I've learnt plenty from doing it.

  4. It's worth having a look to see if you can get rubber gaiters for the sphericals. I know they're available for common rod end sizes, not looked for these larger sphericals.

The LCAs do look like a nice bit of kit :-)

  5. Event Title: MK Meets and Eats - The Betsey Wynne, Swanbourne

    Event Date: 03.03.2018 to 03.03.2018

    Hi everyone,

With the January slog almost over its time to start thinking about cleaning down your cars from all the winter grime and enjoying a hopefully dry and sunny lunchtime meet at The Betsey Wynne in Swanbourne.

    https://www.thebetseywynne.co.uk/

Its very popular on Saturdays so a 12:30 arrival for meal at 1:00 should mean we can all park together. I'll need to book a couple of weeks before and depending on numbers may need to take a deposit, will  let you know.

** Due to table availability please aim to arrive for 2.30pm for food at 3.00pm **

I look forward to catching up with the familiar faces and hopefully seeing a few new ones as well.

    Dan.

  6. Thanks mate. That is a good shout - I did consider this but it would involve paying somebody to take the kit off and put the stock stuff back on, then reflash. No idea how much... I can’t do it myself.
I also think that the car as it is represents a great buy for someone so I’ll try like this first.
I personally was never interested in ‘a few HP here and there’ with manifolds, air filters, tunes, catbacks etc. I wanted a step change in performance and it’s exactly what I got, at a cost (£££). However, now that I’ve absorbed that cost, whoever buys this doesn’t have to! Not fair really....
Shame to see you selling up, a real bargain for whoever buys it!
