GNoodle 5 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 Hey Guys Has anyone tried bypassing the number plate mount and bolting the plate straight to the bumper using the plate mount holes? I have a 330 x 155 front plate, I've been looking for mounts without much luck, but having taken the mount off today, to look at cutting it own to size, I think it would look better without it. Any help much appreciated.
Keethos 842 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 Not sure how but I've seen various people without the big black mount.
Tom B 44 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 Mines held on with some strong Velcro! Sticky pads would work the same I assume. Looks miles better!
long-gone 152 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 I also use Velcro but it looks a bit cheap/naff. Would prefer a nice mount for my 3/4 size plate.

Mikey P 32 Report post Posted September 21, 2016 I just removed the plate holder and screwed the new plate into the holes in bumper from the plate holder (think I even used the same screws) assumed this is what everyone was using surely much more secure than Velcro. 1 Ztox reacted to this

Snap, just drilled the plate to marry up to the holes behind the holder.

That's actually a really good and simple idea!! Might have to steal that one! What size plate do you need to cover the holes?

I can't remember exactly what mine is and I can't find the paperwork at the moment, my car also isn't kept at home but it looks like this... The gap between the holes is smaller that on the holder. 1 Minion reacted to this

Keethos 842 Report post Posted September 22, 2016 Both my front and rear are held on by velcro and they're very secure, almost a mission to get them off just to put show plates on

Yep, that's what the original question was... 11 hours ago, Minion said: That's actually a really good and simple idea!! Might have to steal that one! What size plate do you need to cover the holes? Mine was 330mm, you can see from pic there isn't a great deal of room to spare.
