smudge 1020 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Has anyone looked at actually making the "vent" above the wheel arch an actual vent? When you remove the vent, I assume it's not straight through to the engine bay, it just sits on top of the skeleton of the body? Think I've been given a great idea over the weekend that would look better than the standard 86 vents and also function fairly well to allow heat to escape... Lee 82 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 The actual hole behind the 'vent cover' is actually very small, it would require a fair bit of cutting and welding to open it up properly
AJ124 118 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 I saw this on the US site: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70815&highlight=prova+air+vent
smudge 1020 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Thanks AJ, that's interesting to see that there is actually holes in the skeleton at that part of the car so you don't have to cut into it
rob275 1817 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Unsure how much it's realistically going to vent. It's been spoken about before, but nobody has had the balls to cut it.
smudge 1020 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 The hole in the skeleton is big enough already, just need the actual plastic bit on the vent cutting to allow it out. I wouldn't go cutting into the actual bodywork

smudge 1020 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Enough of a hole there to allow the heat to escape
rob275 1817 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 That would be because in them pictures he cut it

Kodename47 446 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Not that big a deal thoughDepends on how good you are at cutting metal and making it look ok. I would assume you'd want to take the bonnet off to make it easier as there isn't much room up there

Varelco 211 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Surely when he closes the bonnet the bonnet hinges will cover up where it's been cut? Just trying to figure it from the photo.
Keethos 842 Report post Posted August 19, 2015 The bonnet hinges would sit in front of the vents but there'll be space around it for the air to travel around. Would it not be easier to cut if you to actually take the wings off?
